Area Description
West Falmouth is a delightful residential community and historic neighborhood. The Old Stone Barn is over 200 years old, and sits adjacent to several other houses dating to the 1700's and early 1800's.
The house looks onto Black Beach, a public beach accessible only by water or by walking at low tide from one of the nearby public beaches (Woodneck or Chapaquoit). The nearest public beach is Chapaquoit, approximately 10 minutes by bike, past the West Falmouth harbor. Beach stickers for parking at all the town beaches can be purchased at the Town Beach with a rental contract, or by the day at Old Silver Beach in North Falmouth.
There is a bike trail from Falmouth to Woods Hole- The Shining Sea Bikeway - a great excursion along beach and to the coffee shop and aquarium. The trail extension through West Falmouth was just completed and is easily accessible via Quahog Pond Lane, a quarter mile to the north.

Reviews for this vacation home rental in West Falmouth, Massachusetts
This is a perfect house for a large group! We are a group of 7 childhood friends (had room for a few more) in our early 40s that came together for a week of laughter, reminiscing, and new memories made at the Old Stone Barn. Having never been to the Cape, I found it to be in the perfect location - easy access to Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard (ferries are 15 - 20 min away), Hyannis (great Brazilian Grill), beaches, even drove to Provincetown for a day (45 min - we were there after Labor Day). The house had history, character, and charm - and the site is gorgeous - the views of Buzzard Bay are amazing!! Everything you need is provided...the kitchen is well stocked. Falmouth is close and has some cute shops (sweatshirt outlet has GREAT deals!) ...try The Clam Man fish shop for great lobster - we bought it live and cooked it at the barn - DELISH!!! We hope to make this a bi-annual reunion!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Anyone who has ever driven Rte28a in Falmouth will recognize this home with its colomned front lawn. The views are awe-inspiring. This home has everything from a fully stocked kitchen, air hockey game and left behind treasures from other guests. The veranda is stocked with books, fiction as well as the history of the Great Marsh, games and quiet sofa cornors. This home easily slept our extended family with plenty of play area when the sun was too hot or the clouds too wet.
A true gem
we brought our little 11 month old newly walking daughter to the old stone barn and had a wonderful time. The house had everything we could need, was clean, modern, and had a beautiful view of the ocean and a large yard and path to the bike trail. We went to a different beach every day and a nearby freshwate pond and grilled every night and ate out a few times as well. highly recommend this lovely home.
We have rented houses in West Falmouth for over 20 years and this is the best. The house is old but everything inside is modern and tasteful. We loved the sit on the upstairs deck and watch the ocean and the bikes on the bike path or sit downstairs and see the little bunnies on the lawn.
We had a great time at the old stone barn. Extremely close to a beautiful quiet beach, more than enough living space, everything you need in a house, and a great sun room where everyone you're with has room to sit down and relax. I suggest wearing bug spray if you're walking through the boardwalk in the marshland...we found a few ticks on people throughout the week. Regardless, we had a great stay in West Falmouth, and would definitely return in the future!
What a perfect place for a get away. You feel right at home as soon as you walk in. Peaceful and serene, yet close enough to shops, restaurants, etc. We really enjoyed our retreat!
For our extended family gathering, this home was perfect. There was room for everyone from grandparents to tiny tots. The game room was a favorite of the children. The deck off the master bedroom with views of the Bay were my favorite. Hiking through the trail toward the water was exciting and a true get away. Accomodations and supplies were excellent.
We loved his place so much. Lots of room and very well stocked. One of our best rentals yet. Great water views and an interesting walk to the beach. We would rent the Old Stone Barn again and again. The owners are nice people who answered all our questions prior to the rental. Parking for 5 cars easily. Lots of games and books for kids and adults.
4 bathrooms were a real plus. Great location away from from traffic but close to shopping and entertainment. Great backkyard for kids an adults. The master bedroom views are to die for. We could go on and on. In short, it is a great house for a short or long term rental. Should we return to the Cape this property would be our first choice.
The old stone barn was the perfect house for our large group of students and staff who were on the cape for a tracking expedition. I found it charming and felt transported to another time and place. Having visited many temples in both Greece and Turkey, I found the magnificent pillar that graces the entryway a strong statement of a well kept home that was sacred and well loved.
We stayed at the old stone barn for our son's wedding in September. When we crossed the threshold, I felt at home almost immediately. My memories of that space consists of family, love and fabulous friends. The view of the ocean from our balcony and the tantalizing smell of wild grapes from the yard will be etched in my mind forever.
It's really a fantastic piece of property in an exceptional area. I grew up driving right past this home and it always stuck out, mainly due to the large column and bamboo grove next to the driveway. It's a fun, roomy, well equipped home away from home, great for larger parties. If you are looking to make your vacation memorable it's the place for you. My whole family will remember the Old Stone Barn.
We stayed at the Old Stone Barn only for a few days but would have preferred to stay the month. It is a really interesting, beutiful - but comfortable - space that overlooks the marshes and a great back yard. Great for sharing with friends, leisurely dinner parties and beach excursions. It is close to hearby beaches - we purchased a non-resident beach sticker to get into the "special" beaches in the area. This is not necessary however. This is a wonderful place for family and friends - enjoy!
