High elevation (4500') new LOG CABIN near West Jefferson, NC. Some of the best VIEWS in the area of the Blue Ridge Mountains including Grandfather, Sugar, and Appalachian Mountains - all to be enjoyed from the rocking chairs on our large, wrap-around porch.

Area Description

Located within 5 mi. of West Jefferson - a quaint mountain village with both modern conveniences and old-time charm offering several good restaurants, a great coffee shop (w/ free wireless!), and several art galleries. Both BOONE and BLOWING ROCK are 30-45 min away for more shopping, dining, and entertainment options.

There are two nearby GOLF courses - Mountain Aire golf course is minutes away and Jefferson Landing is only slightly further. The NEW RIVER w/ access for FISHING, TUBING, and CANOEING/Hiking is also nearby. Almost 30 river miles of paddling is available within 30 min drive of the cabin!

Of course, HIKING and mountain BIKING are as close as the backdoor with many options within a short drive including Mt. Jefferson, numerous places along the the BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY (15 min away), and Mt. Rogers Recreation Area, VA. For casual bikers, the Virgina Creeper Trail is less than an hour way and a great day outing.

Explore several quaint mountain town with local flavor. There is an abundance of Bluegrass music (ie. Todd General Store), country cooking (Shatley Springs), etc.

Other attractions include Grandfather Mtn, Tweetsie Railroad, Valle Crucis, and all the area ski resorts (Appalachian / Beech / Sugar / Hawksnest)in under an hours drive.

What a beautiful place, October 28, 2009

We stayed in the cottage three days in October 2009. Actually I did not want to leave there, because what a comfortable, warm, and beautiful place in nature! Deep fall, leaves’ color was turning, so we enjoyed the great view of Blue Ridge Mountains. We moved from Japan seven months ago, and the house was the best place we visited in the states ever. My mother and all of my family love the house.

Peace and Quiet, September 16, 2009

Lovely cabin/home with an unbelievable view. Peace and tranquility, back to nature place to be. Thoroughly enjoyed the getaway from daily grind. Nature walks were challenging for the hills, saw some deer. Only drawback was the lack of a flatscreen TV to watch the opening of the football season. Smaller tube TV had to suffice. Local area towns had choice for eating and exploring. All in all a very enjoyable stay. Will do it again.

The nicest rental property we’ve had! Outstanding views! Watched the 4th fireworks from 7 or 8 different locations (Boone, Blowing Rock, etc) from the deck. Quiet even on the 4th weekend. The cabin is very comfortable with large bedrooms and 3 floors for everyone to get some personal space if desired. Activities were endless. We rented kayaks from Riverside Canoe (highly recommend them) and paddled the South Fork of the New River. The New River State Park area was beautiful. Also played golf at Mountain Aire course about 3 miles from the cabin. Fun mountain course. Didn’t do very much hiking but there are plenty of great hikes in the area (along Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, in Blowing Rock, etc). Didn’t want to leave.
