Description of the Whidbey Island vacation cottage rental
Maxwelton Aerie Alpaca Ranch farmhouse is nestled on a bluff overlooking both the Maxwelton Valley and Useless Bay. It perches like the eagles nest beside it taking in magnificent views of the sun rising over the steaming pasture, alpacas grazing just outside the window and velvet sunsets over the mountains and sound. Leave the cares of the world as you ascend the driveway to the little red farmhouse. It's the simplicity of the place with the wonders of nature on every side that takes you back to the joy of discovery. Just one and one-half hours from Seattle and you're in a different world. After a night or more in this heaven, you'll leave with a sense of well-being, and a renewed spring in your step.
Maxwelton Aerie is a great place for memorable experiences with family and friends.
Note: as a working farm we have restrictions on pets. We occasionally approve a house pet but animals cannot run free on the farm and prior approval is always required.
This working alpaca ranch is surrounded by natural wonders. Very private with 740 feet of bluff waterfront and 25 acreas.
Historic beach village of Langley just 15 minutes away.

Reviews for this vacation cottage rental in Whidbey Island, Washington
Our stay began with a lightning storm over the water. The house was cozy and warm, a perfect perch to watch the wild weather. Lots of games, books, and alpaca-watching! The kitchen is the best equipped of any rental I've ever had. Fresh eggs were delivered to our door. We're coming back as soon as possible!
I almost don't want to share how beautiful this was, because I don't want to have to compete with everyone to rent it again (and again). First of all, the Alpaca ranch manager and the owner of the ranch and house are both wonderful people. Friendly, kind, and accomodating. We had our wedding in the backyard overlooking the water, and my family stayed in the farmhouse for 4 days before the event. In the middle of wedding planning mayhem, I visited the ranch to get my mother settled there. It was as if I had entered a dreamy relaxing, blissful world. The flowers, the setting, the house itself. All of it was amazing. I highly highly recommend it to everyone who can appareciate nature, quiet, and beauty.
This place is a gem. Every detail is perfect, from the telescope, the view, the tables for games, the game cabinet, the comfy overstuffed couch, to the warm alpaca throws. We stayed with another family for four days and wish we could have stayed another week! A real treasure.
Of course I new the farm would be very nice but really pictures do not describe how really beautiful this farm is and so clean. You won't even believe it's a working farm. The landscaping is incredible, everywhere you look inside the farmhouse there is another piece of artwork to look at. If you have children Carolyn and her team have provided so many games for the children to play as well as for the adults. My friends and I played monopoly and we had such fun and laughed so hard! None of us had played for years! It's so warm and cozy in the farmhouse and oh the beds are so comfortable with lots of blankets to keep you warm. What a great kitchen to prepare food. With all the utensils one might need to create that fabulous meal away from home. I can hardly wait to go again, it was truly a delightful and relaxing time.

“What a truly magical place this is. We came seeking peace and relaxation and that is exactly what we found. A time and place to replenish our much depleted batteries.”

“We decided there was no higher purpose for a summer day as lovely as this one. The day was spent admiring the textures of sunrise over the Maxwelton Valley, roaming seemingly endless beaches, and visitng with family. Maxwelton Valley came out in full glory this evening. Not a cloud remains in the sky, the bay is perfectly calm and the house is filled with the light of summer. We thouroughly enjoyed the views from every window of your home, your wonderful library, the sun melt at days end as witnessed from the hammock. We’ve never seen a house in a more beautiful setting! “An evening sunset,
A morning sunrise,
Eagles soar and
Waves wash beneath
A task of heaven,
Paradise on earth,
Peace, tranquility,
Joy deep in my soul
Truly moments to treasure.”

“We had the most marvelous time! The weather was gorgeous, bright sunny skies. The sunsets were awesome. We picked blackberries and made a pie, beach combed and had many a croquet tournament, read books, played games and just enjoyed each others company.”
