A visit with the Alpaca Whisperer
April 14, 2013
My cousin, Mother and I stayed at the extradinary Maxwelton Aerie Alpaca Ranch in November. After a long talk about alpacas and all things fiber with Carolyn Geise, we headed out from Seattle to Whidbey Island for a never to be forgotten experience. We loved the Ranch at first sight, and immediately felt at home with alpacas and cozy farmhouse overlooking the sea. We were up early to meet Bill Frasier and watch alpacas who were trained to to enter their own feeding station and eat breakfast. We learned so much from Bill that we were inspired to start our own alpaca farm in Texas! The farmhouse was very comfortable, and we enjoyed playing the piano and singing after dinner. The wireless network access was great and we were connected with family and friends on the mainland. Thank you Bill and Carolyn for a wonderful experience!

Serenity and Beauty and Activity
March 14, 2013
Three friends and I stayed two nights at Maxwelton. We loved the rustic but comfortable farmhouse, and the company of the 20+ alpacas and their two llama guards who raised their heads and stared whenever we came into view. The beds were comfortable, and the farmhouse was clean and well stocked with games, books, and information about local places to visit. The walks on the beach were fantastic. We enjoyed the 100+ well build stairs down to /up from the beach. The view from the house over Puget Sound is spectacular. The kitchen had all the amenities one might expect and more. A lovely space to relax, read, eat, rest, walk, talk, and gawk. Can't recommend it enough!

Awesome Getaway Spot!
August 24, 2012
The Maxwelton Aerie Alpaca farmhouse on Whidbey Island is a perfect place to get away! The quaint cottage is warm and relaxing and the property views are breathtaking. We recently stayed there with five of our friends for 10 days. Having only one restroom was the only downside....but even that didn't hinder the wonderful time we spent there! I highly recommend this vacation spot. Can't wait to go back!
Owner's reply:
Robin,
So glad you and your friends had a good time at our little piece of heaven. We are working on a second restroom but need to upgrade the septic system first and that is a challenge so can't promise when it will be finished. We do bring in an upscale port-potty with running water for larger groups. Look forward to your next visit.

A farm by the ocean... what magic!!!
March 26, 2012
Hi Carolyn... I just wanted to say thank you for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful and unique home!! We all had such a magical time there. My daughter who is 6 has said since she was very young that she wants to become a farmer, and my husband and son and I have all said we want to live near the ocean... you have the fortune to have both!! And now we realise... it is possible to have both. Also, I can't say how much we appreciated having Bill there. He was so fantastic with the kids - so patient and kind and engaging. And I can't tell you how much I learned about Alpacas and Lamas!!! So again, thank you for your flexibility and generosity in opening up your amazing world to us. Best Naomi and gang!!

we love this place!
September 3, 2011
Beautiful sunsets, an amazingly outfitted kitchen complete with all the fixings to make a pie or any kind of dinner, and access to the beach. What could be better on Whidbey. This was our fourth or fifth stay, and we love it. The animals are a hoot, and Bill, the caretaker, is the best.

Perfect for kids and adults!
May 4, 2011
Our stay in the farmhouse was the PERFECT setting for my family vacation. My parents were visiting from the east coast and this property was the full northwest package. As my dad said "I wouldn't change a thing". Beautiful views of the sound, eagles, alpacas, misty valley, sunrises and sunsets, mountains. My 18 month old daughter loved feeding the alpacas and Bill (the Alpaca caretaker) was so great. He spent about an hour with us telling us all things alpaca. You will enjoy your stay and will not want to leave.

Great place for families!
April 9, 2011
We're not too far from this property, but it felt like we were worlds away. Fantastic location. Great access to the beach. Wonderful care giver who looks after the alpacas, as well as visitors. Just an all around delightful experience. Every imaginable amenity, though no tv for family movie night. Great place to unplug, unwind, connect and enjoy your surroundings. Rooms upstairs are a bit drafty. This will be a regular vacation spot!

Here is a place with all great stuff you need for cooking -including top of the line knives! The surrounds are gorgeous and the Keeper of the Alpaca's is incredible as an all around help and teaching all of us and the children about alpacas. Going with two families in the winter doesn't give many options for space to retreat as the bedrooms are too cold to be inviting. Otherwise a spectacular spot!

Quiet getaway
September 30, 2010
We loved our trip at the alpaca farm. It was my husband and myself and our children 10, 4 1/2, and 2 1/2. The beach was just a short walk down the stairs and the scenery was beautiful. The nice part was we didn't watch any TV the entire time. We played at the beach, played games indoor and out, and feed the chickens and alpacas. My kids wanted to stay longer. It was so quiet, and we got away from the phones ringing and video games. It truly wonderful!

We love maxwelton aerie. This is our second time staying here. The decor is wonderful. The kitchen well stocked. The grounds are beautiful. Bill, the caretaker alpaca man, is great and attentive. Fresh eggs in the morning are the finishing touch.

The Most Perfect Girls Getaway Weekend Ever!
May 19, 2010
In celebration of my mother's 60th birthday, her sister and nieces flew in from all over the country and we gathered here for a perfect weekend of walking on the beach, eating outside in the garden looking at the water and gazing across the sound at the peninsula mountains. We relaxed and talked, strolled through the gardens, met and fed the alpacas (with Bills kind help), searched for eggs and later, for the perfect shells on the beach. We enjoyed camp fires at night and waking to the rising sun. We couldn't have been more relaxed and it couldn't have been a more perfect weekend. We will certainly be back, maybe to celebrate another milestone, maybe just to have another perfect weekend.

Peaceful Island Retreat
April 7, 2010
My wife and I treated ourselves to a long weekend at the Farmhouse for our first anniversary. We had a no stress, peaceful, and rejuvenating stay. Close by walking trails, amazing scenery, and the cluster of alpacas made the trip perfect. The Farmhouse was very clean, cozy, and had all the necessities (including wi-fi) to make the trip complete. We'll be sure to return for another getaway in the future. Whidbey Island is our new favorite place thanks to this visit.

The alpaca farm is perched on top of a bluff, with eagles landing in nearby trees almost at eye level. The place feels like home, not like a typical sterile vacation rental. The view from the dining room table and kitchen sink is of the Olympic Mountain range. My family all loved the place as we celebrated my mom's 75th birthday.

Alpacas and a cozy farmhouse
November 17, 2009
Our stay began with a lightning storm over the water. The house was cozy and warm, a perfect perch to watch the wild weather. Lots of games, books, and alpaca-watching! The kitchen is the best equipped of any rental I've ever had. Fresh eggs were delivered to our door. We're coming back as soon as possible!

The most beautful wedding ever
September 16, 2009
I almost don't want to share how beautiful this was, because I don't want to have to compete with everyone to rent it again (and again). First of all, the Alpaca ranch manager and the owner of the ranch and house are both wonderful people. Friendly, kind, and accomodating. We had our wedding in the backyard overlooking the water, and my family stayed in the farmhouse for 4 days before the event. In the middle of wedding planning mayhem, I visited the ranch to get my mother settled there. It was as if I had entered a dreamy relaxing, blissful world. The flowers, the setting, the house itself. All of it was amazing. I highly highly recommend it to everyone who can appareciate nature, quiet, and beauty.

A Little Piece of Paradise!
June 12, 2008
Of course I new the farm would be very nice but really pictures do not describe how really beautiful this farm is and so clean. You won't even believe it's a working farm. The landscaping is incredible, everywhere you look inside the farmhouse there is another piece of artwork to look at. If you have children Carolyn and her team have provided so many games for the children to play as well as for the adults. My friends and I played monopoly and we had such fun and laughed so hard! None of us had played for years! It's so warm and cozy in the farmhouse and oh the beds are so comfortable with lots of blankets to keep you warm. What a great kitchen to prepare food. With all the utensils one might need to create that fabulous meal away from home. I can hardly wait to go again, it was truly a delightful and relaxing time.

“What a truly magical place this is. We came seeking peace and relaxation and that is exactly what we found. A time and place to replenish our much depleted batteries.”

“We decided there was no higher purpose for a summer day as lovely as this one. The day was spent admiring the textures of sunrise over the Maxwelton Valley, roaming seemingly endless beaches, and visitng with family. Maxwelton Valley came out in full glory this evening. Not a cloud remains in the sky, the bay is perfectly calm and the house is filled with the light of summer. We thouroughly enjoyed the views from every window of your home, your wonderful library, the sun melt at days end as witnessed from the hammock. We’ve never seen a house in a more beautiful setting! “An evening sunset,
A morning sunrise,
Eagles soar and
Waves wash beneath
A task of heaven,
Paradise on earth,
Peace, tranquility,
Joy deep in my soul
Truly moments to treasure.”

“We had the most marvelous time! The weather was gorgeous, bright sunny skies. The sunsets were awesome. We picked blackberries and made a pie, beach combed and had many a croquet tournament, read books, played games and just enjoyed each others company.”
