Featured on the Whidbey Island Garden Tour for 2007, "The Retreat At Sunset Beach" is a very special one-of-a-kind destination. Located on the west side of Whidbey Island, it is 15 minutes from the Deception Pass Bridge, considered by many to be the 8th Wonder of the World! The home sleeps 6 comfortably with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths and 2 1/2 baths. A couch, loveseat and large leather sectional accommodate additional children or adults.

"The Retreat at Sunset Beach" is the perfect haven for relaxing days combing the miles-long beach or nestling into a comfy adirondak on the deck with your favorite book in front of the fire. Or indulge your romantic side with the ultimate, a late-night dip in the commodious hot tub as you watch the sun set in spectacular crimson.

On the east side of the home is Swan Lake Game Preserve where you can view and photograph abundant wildlife, including blue heron, eagles, duck and geese. The home also has its own private exercise room which includes a stationary bike, treadmill, and Stairmaster. There is also a television (with video) for your convenience to make your workout more enjoyable!

The "Retreat At Sunset Beach" is located 20 minutes from either the San Juan or Port Townsend ferry. The sky is the limit on the adventures that exist in and around this home. Come and enjoy an incredibly relaxing vacation!

 Where I hope to hang my hat again soon, July 29, 2009

Whidbey Island, WA, USA – couple of years ago I had no idea where this place was. For my young age I have travelled quite a lot and I still have a lot to travel. I am very well aware that there are many amazing places hidden to general knowledge. The moment I set my foot in the West Beach Rd. house on Whidbey Island, I knew this was one of them. A Czech writer once said that home is where you hang your hat. I did hang my hat in the West Beach house, although it is quite a trip from Prague to Whidbey and I believe to be back there one day soon, to hang my hat there again. When I look at my pictures from the West Beach from time to time I feel a bit the wind coming from the ocean, the rays of the Sun setting behind the small islands, the sound of waves hitting the rocky beach, the scream of the seagulls, the warmth of the house. One would have to be senseless not to enjoy all of it and not to be eager to go back there soon.

The house met all of our expectations, and in some cases exceeded them! The island was a great place to explore, and this house gave us a perfect "base," not to mention the fact the at the end of each day, it was peaceful and relaxing. I would recommend HIGHLY recommend this home.

If you're looking for a peaceful and luxurious spot to wind down and relax, this is it! I've spent a lot of time here and I can highly recommend it. The house is beautifully appointed, spacious and situated between the ocean and a large, undeveloped wildlife refuge. Lounge on the spacious and gorgeous deck, build a fire, and watch the waves roll in. Heavenly! Work out in the attached mini-gym on quality equipment, or soak in the hot tub and watch your nerves untangle and your body relax. Wake up to a view of the ocean through nearly floor-to-ceiling windows. This is my idea of a perfect retreat and I plan to return yearly as long as possible.

We stayed for 4 nights with our two kids and our parents. We had a wonderful time. There was plenty of room for all of us. Between the yard in front, the deck and the beach, our kids did not want leave. We rarely left the house the entire time. We all hope to come back again.

My wife and I stayed here for a week on our honeymoon. Unbelievable! From falling asleep to the sound of gentle waves to sipping our coffee on the deck in the cool of the morning, it was an escape unparalleled. By the time you add closeness to groceries and video rentals, a sleek but warm kitchen to prepare meals and finish your days with walks on the beach, you are thoroughly lost in relaxation. Did I mention we highly recommend it?!
