Description of the Whitefield vacation cottage rental

Have you decided what you want to do on your vacation' Why not have it all' You can swim, canoe, fish, golf, ride gondolas, walk, hike, or bike during the summer months; you can ice skate, x-country or alpine ski, snow shoe, or snowmobile in the winter. Autumn brings stunning fall foliage; spring has just the sparkle to chase those winter doldrums.

Come stay in the cottage that has it all. "Sonia" is a four season lake side cottage on spring fed and trout stocked Mirror Lake deep in the White Mountains of northern New Hampshire. It is located in the picturesque New England town of Whitefield where you can find pancake breakfasts in the summer, movies for the kids anytime, and the famous eatery, Grandma's Kitchen, featured in Town and Leisure magazine.

Whitefield is located near numerous northern New Hampshire attractions. For the kids (and bigger people, too!) we have Storyland, Six Gun City, and water slides. Mount Washington is 26 miles away. Climb it on foot, by the Cog rail road, or by car. Ski on Loon Mountain (38 miles), Attitash (35 miles), Cannon (25 miles), or Bretton Woods (15 miles), but pay only a fraction of the lodging cost. Hike some of New Hampshire's 48 four thousand-foot mountains. Go antiquing; scout bargains at numerous outlet shops, including L.L. Bean. Or just kick back and watch the play of light on Mirror Lake while sipping your favorite brew.

Sonia sleeps 5. There is a queen size bed in the loft, a double in the bedroom, a double size, pull out couch, and an Aero air matress. The front porch is screened; the back deck overlooks the lake. The kitchen is fully furnished (refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, two burner stove top, toaster oven) and seats 3. The screened porch seats 4; the picnic table seats 4. Cable television, VCR, DVD player, and a radio complement the living area.

This is a very private setting with immediate access to a major roadway.

My husband and I loved "Sonia"! It was neat as a pin, efficient, charming, and had a spectacular view of the lake. We caught bass and, if we had tried bait, would've gotten trout, no doubt. Our favorite moments: watching the mist rise from the lake in the morning, the light from the firepit at night, and the rising of the moon over the lake. The peaceful setting meant I got to read more than I have in months. We hope to return sometime soon!

Oh, Sonia cottage, what a wonderful experience you were! How to describe the cry of the loons as the sun goes down, or the taste of grilled trout straight from the lake, or the stillness in the canoe as my husband and I paddled from shore to shore in the early morning hours. We opted to stay in the loft bedroom instead of the first floor one, because it has such a cozy feeling. We sort of nestled in and read ourselves to sleep instead of bothering with the television and the real life that it brings with it. We wanted a hiatus from reality and our day-to-day lives, and we found it on Mirror Lake in Sonia cottage. Thank you for a memorable week. We'll be back!
