Description of the Wickford vacation home rental
Colorfully renovated, "original" summer "add-on" cottage in historic Wickford Village provides you with approximately 1240 sq.ft. of open contemporary living space. As you walk into the main village you are surrounded by Wickford Cove with multiple waterviews and spectacular neighboring gardens in their various stages of bloom throughout spring, summer and fall.

This quiet hidden neighborhood in the village of Wickford, though not "historic" has it's own history of being the summer get away for city people in the mid 1900's our summer "cottages" have been thoughtfully and lovingly renovated providing a pleasant surprise when discovered. Thirty five years of wonderful finds at the Wickford Art Festival have provided this cottage with it's "artsy" colorful decor, combined with modern comforts you will enjoy the cozy warmth, fun and beauty of dozens of artists.

You are only a short walk from Main St. and the dozens of quaint shops, antique stores, restaurants, churches, art galleries, library, fish market, liquor store and pharmacy. If you desire a break from the hustle and bustle of your everyday life, then just walking down these historic streets and enjoying the beautifully restored homes and gardens can provide you with tranquility and a sort of subtle joy.

"Early" morning walks to Pleasant Street (5 minutes) will provide you with a breath-taking sunrise on Narragansett Bay looking towards Jamestown Island. From the side and front yard the evenings will delight with the occasional radiant sunset over the westward tree line of Wilson Park.

Easy water access is available to those who like to kayak, if you have your own kayak you can just walk down the street and launch or if you are just beginning and want to rent you can walk into the village and go directly to "The Kayak Store".

Area Info
Historic Wickford Village is 15-20 minutes from Jamestown, Newport and Narragansett. A 30 minute drive will bring you to Providence with it's lovely river walk and Federal Hill, known for a multitude of gourmet restaurants. The airport is a 20 minute drive as is the Kingston train station. The town beach is within walking distance, the state beaches at Scarborough are 30-40 minutes south. The cliff walk in Newport is a delight if you are a hiker or a hearty walker.

Originally a commercial seaport Wickford is still home to many local fishermen and the town dock is a working dock. Wickford is also known for its spectacular annual Wickford Art Festival held in July. The winter months are definitely quiet, yet serene and beautiful in a snowy and winter way with just a touch of sparkle during the Festival of Lights. Wickford Village was founded in 1663 and we are lucky to have so many historic homes restored and a part of our everyday coming and going.
