Great 3 day stay. Relaxing at the lake. Trees were changing colors. Fire pit used every night, made smores. Two excellent hikes within 20 to 30 minutes (University of the South perimeter trail and The Walls of Jericho trail.) Cabin is small and cozy perfect for two. More than normal amenities present. no washing machine or dryer which was fine they would have taken to much space.

Owner's reply:

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! The fall is a lovely time, with all the trees changing colors, and no heat and humidity. Great time to sit around the campfire and make s'mores!

A hidden gem!

My husband and I spent out 2nd anniversary at the Hawk's Nest this past weekend. We absolutely fell in love with the place. I can't wait to visit again and bring my son. The Hawk's Nest is much more than as described. The view from the dock was nice and peaceful. Such a treasure to have and for you to share with others. We look forward to visiting again! Thank you!

Mary & David Dilsaver

Owner's reply:

Thanks, Jackie! We're always glad to hear that someone else enjoys the cabin and surrounding area as much as we do. If we lived closer, we would be there every weekend we could! I hope you will come back and stay again soon. Mary

A lil slice of Heaven :-)

We just spent 3 days at the cabin for our 15th yr anniversary! What a wonderful place it is!!! EVERYTHING you need is already there. We put our canoe in by our private dock, had coffee on the swing by the lake, enjoyed the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. We fell in love with this place ♥ It's very quaint, very clean, and truly has all the comforts of home. We recommend this place 100%. We will be booking it alot more in the future. Thank you for a great home-away-from-home.

Mary & David Dilsaver

Owner's reply:

Thanks so much for your kind words, Tammy! We're always glad when someone falls as much in love with the cabin as we are! I hope you come back again soon. You don't have to wait for an anniversary to enjoy the peace and quiet.

A great getaway

The Hawks Nest cabin could not have been a better place to stay as I needed was a great place to hide from the world and rest for a few days. The scenery was beautiful, the house was fabulous and very well-designed and well-stocked to help the renter just arrive and enjoy. You can barely see the road from the cottage to give you an idea how remote it is, yet it is only a 5 minute drive to town. I will be back.

Mary & David Dilsaver

Owner's reply:

Thank you for your kind words, Keith. We look forward to having you back again!

This was my second trip to Hawk's Nest and I have to say better than the first because the weather was a little cooler. This place is absolutely one of the best places I have ever been and will make this one of my yearly visits for sure. The owners are easy to contact and the caretakers do an excellent job! I couldn't ask for a more pleasant experience. This has become one of my favorite places to stay and I might even visit twice a year instead of just one! They, also, make sure you have everything you need while at the cabin!!

Mary & David Dilsaver

Owner's reply:

Thanks, Brenda! I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit. We'd be happy to have you back anytime!

Rest and Relaxation

The cabin is a very nice, quiet and small getaway. They have everything you need, all you have to bring is food, clothes and yourself. The only thing I think they may need to add is a light between the cabin and the lake. We had a very good time and will be thinking about returning next year.

We LOVE the Hawk's Nest! This was our 4th summer trip to the Cabin and we love it more each time! What a cozy, peaceful place to rest and have lots of family fun! The private boat dock is perfect for our boat and we also enjoy swimming right off the dock as well! The owners truly make you feel like your part of the family with all of the extras they leave for you! We plan to return next summer!

Absolutely Wonderful!

We had a wonderful time at Hawk's Nest! It is absolutely the most well equipped cabin we have ever stayed in. We have rented many cabins in Tennessee over the past six years including many in East Tennessee. Hawk's Nest is definitely our favorite. Most of the time you need to take items like aluminum foil, zip-lock bags, and first aid items, but this cabin already had all those items. The drawers and cabinets are all labeled with the contents which really helps when trying to locate something. The dock was perfect for fishing, the area was quiet, the gas grill was clean and ready to use, and there is also a charcol grill if you prefer. We will be renting Hawk's nest again soon!

Wonderful retreat

If you're looking for a quiet little cabin in the woods by the lake, this is it. Hawk's Nest was everything we expected and more. A great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors... whether sitting by the fire, swinging in the porch swing or lounging on the pier at the lake. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely return. Thank you Mary, you have a wonderful place.

Peaceful Vacation

We loved staying at the Hawk's Nest. It was so cozy and comfortable. I have never stayed at a place that was so well equipped for visitors. Loved the outside areas. We look forward to staying again in the future.

Fantastic Cabin Retreat

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hawk's Next cabin. Loved the rustic log walls and atmosphere. The outside space (sitting areas, swings, fire pit, bbq grills, etc.) and the views of the lake through the tall trees were amazing. Just what I needed for my working retreat. Peace and quiet in an ideal setting. Cabin is well-appointed with everything you might need. Kitchen was great. Living area with comfy sofas and nice selection of movies. Upstairs had two comfortable bedrooms (after climbing up on a fun and funky set of stairs in the middle of the cabin). Would definitely recommend it to anyone and can't wait to take my family there for fun.

Perfect place to share with someone you love

We found the cabin--both inside and outside--a perfect place to relax, cook, eat, and talk.

we loved it!

The Hawk's Nest is a lovely little cabin with all the comforts of a real home....not too fancy, but extremely comfortable and it is clear that the owners have thought of everyone who might stay and made provisions for any eventuality. They even left coffee and condiments just in case you arrived in need of caffeine! It was quiet, serene, and made for a simple, great week. Now, if it were just possible to eliminate gnats and mosquitos from lakefront woods, the world would be perfect. Thank you, Mary!

Cute cabin on the mountain!

This cute, doll-house sized cabin is just right for a couple (or two) to spend the week. It is very clean with a large, well appointed deck over-looking the lake. The kitchen is fully equipped with a good sized stove, refrigerator and microwave. It is within 5 minutes of downtown Winchester and 25 minutes down the mountain from Sewanee. We will definitely come back again!
