Description of the Winter Harbor vacation home rental

Breathtaking water views of the mountains of Acadia across the Harbor, views over Lighthouse Island out to the open Ocean, and even views of tranquil Mill Stream. Every single room in this spacious cottage (including the bathrooms and even the attached garage!) has at least one water view; many rooms have two water views, and the views from the breezy screened sun porch are amazing! Located just steps down the street from the Bar Harbor ferry dock and within easy walking distance of the art galleries, antique stores and restaurants of the scenic village of Winter Harbor. Nearby bike and kayak rentals make this the perfect place to explore the Schoodic Loop of Acadia National Park - and the Park entrance is less than a half mile away! There's a reason we call this "The Cook's Cottage" - a large and well equipped kitchen is at the center of this 1893 home. First floor master bedroom suite AND second floor master bedroom, plus two additional large bedrooms on the second floor. Full bathroom on the second floor, plus a half-bath on the first floor next to the living room.

Area Information

Acadia National Park (the Mount Desert Island section) is just a ferry ride away; the Schoodic Section of Acadia National Park is less than a half mile away. DownEast Maine, with its many lighthouses, cliff walks, and picturesque coastal villages, is less than a half hour away. Blue Hill Peninsula, with all it offers, is less than an hour away. A great central locations for exploring Acadia, Downeast Maine, and the Blue Hill Region.

Cooks Cottage...a perfect Maine vacation

We just returned from "Cooks Cottage" and were very pleased with this lovely home. Winter Harbor is a perfect place to stay if you want to relax and enjoy the beauty of the seashore. The location is perfect for day trips to all the surrounding areas and each evening you look forward to coming home to a cozy cottage with the most comfortable beds to enjoy a wonderful nights sleep. Best of both worlds!

One of the special things about Cook's Cottage is where it is located--close to the ferry to Bar Harbor and to grocery stores and restaurants and yet remote enough that we could go sit on the rocks on the Schoodic Peninsula which were only 10 minutes away. It was peaceful, but not isolated....and charming but with all the modern conveniences to make our vacation easy and comfortable. We kayaked near by, had dinner on the lovely closed-in porch, watched sunsets every evening and enjoyed the eagles flying by. A perfect vacation for us!

My family rented this home in Winter Harbor just as its renovation was completed in August. The 4 bedrooms had king sized beds that were the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. The house was spacious and equipped with a well stocked kitchen for those who like to cook. The screened porch was perfect for watching the sun set over the harbor. I would stay here again.
