What a great house! It was PERFECT for our group of 6. A beautiful setting - we spent most of our time outside on the front porch. We caught a few fish, had a nice cookout, and got over to Levon Helm's studio for a concert. We had a blast in Woodstock and that was in large part thanks to this house providing a great atmosphere for the trip. In addition, the owner was a pleasure to deal with. This will be the only place we'll stay for any return trips!

We were 2 families (3 adults and 3 kids) and we stayed in this house over the recent Memorial Day weekend. We absolutely loved it and didn't want to go home! The house is a lovely old farm house and furnished in a very attractive and laid-back way, and the yard is huge and gorgeous and wonderful for running/playing/jumping kids. We were so relaxed and happy hanging out in the house and yard that we barely went anywhere else during our stay -- just into town for 45 minutes. Also, the separate studio area (up a separate staircase) was a perfect set-up for me with my 19 month old because we could get up early and not wake up anyone else, and he could take his naps undisturbed. I look forward to returning to this lovely get-away for another stay before too long.

As a veteran of many property rentals, I recommend that you stay away from this overpriced property and it's inept ownership. I rented this property President's Week 2009 for a family get-together, and the stay was less than satisfactory. The actual condition of the house is not what you see in the pictures - the pictures are from years ago. You should also know that the owner of the property is actually the owner of the Barqua R.E., the rental agent. Barqua and it's unlicensed rental agent, Ms. Tiu, messed up our contracted check-in time, and members of my family had to wait outside for MOST OF THE FIRST DAY for the house to be readied for our occupancy. When we finally got inside, we found the house to be old and dilapidated. The beautiful upstairs hot tub that we saw pictured was filthy and leaked severely. The outdoor Jacuzzi was never cleaned or treated from the prior tenants. Cree Quaker was certainly no help. When I spoke to her on the morning of our arrival to find out why we couldn't occupy the house at the contracted time of 9:00am, she could not offer an explanation (even though her name appears on a contract with a 9:00am check-in time). All she could muster was that Barqua's "usual policy" was a 4:00pm check-in time. No apology, no nothing. Families, stay away! This is a frat house bawdy barn, nothing more, and that's all the owner seems to want. This house is not geared to the family-oriented, repeat customer. Tried to resolve with Barqua, to no avai

I stayed at the zen chalet the first weekend in October. I was told by Cree that I would receive my $500 deposit back a couple of weeks after we vacated. It is now nearing the end of December and I have not received my deposit. Cree has stopped returning my emails and no one from the Machree Group has returned my phone calls. They're completely unprofessional. I would look elsewhere for a rental.

The house was beautiful and the location was perfect for a vacation with family members, however we had a terrible experience with Barqua Real Estate, the company managing the property. We had to contact the agent to bring us light bulbs because the lights were burnt in two of the rooms, there was a mouse in the kitchen and worst of all, the agent never returned our $250 deposit. I have been trying to reach her for months and she has not returned my calls or email messages. I will never deal with this company again!

Everything was great. It was a clean, spacious house with really nice surroundings. We woke up to the babbling brook outside each morning. Access was easy. The kitchen was large and made it easy to cook for the 7 people we had. It was cool outside and the heat came right up and made the atmosphere very comfortable. Only downside was that the hot tub did not work properly. We didn't really need it, but for a larger group it would be missed.

A group of friends and I spent a weekend at the chalet, and it couldn't have gone better. It has the quirks and charms of a hand built home, but is complete with modern comforts, including 2 kitchens and the hot tub. The bedrooms were comfortable and felt private. The common space was very cozy and accomodated all of us. Highly recommended as an escape from the city!
I fell in love with Woodstock and the house was beautiful and we had a great time! Thanks!

We had a such a great time at your house, we never wanted to leave. On the
last day before we drove off we just stood there and looked at the house,
I thought we were both going to cry. Our friends loved the house too, we
were so proud to have our wedding in such a unique and beautiful setting.
The big table was perect for our huge spread of food and the couches made
a perfect sitting area at the end of the night, it was better than I could
have imagined. I am addicted to the skylight over the bath idea now, it is
going in our next house for sure! I'm glad you enjoyed the flowers and
greens, I didn't have the heart to throw them out.
My husband and I were married here and are coming back for our first anniversary. A magical house in a magical town!
