Description of the Woodstock vacation cottage rental

A lovingly restored 1928 cottage located less than a mile from the base of Blue Mountain, New York. Charming original details remain, but all major systems have been updated. Located less then 6 miles from the iconic village of Woodstock, approximately 2 hours north of New York City. Just minutes to the trailhead of Platte Clove featuring swimming holes and waterfalls in summer; breathtaking postcard-worthy sites in Winter, Spring Summer or Fall. Set on a dead end road on a lovely parcel with mature trees on 3 sides and a peaceful view of Blue Mountain from the front porch. Wood burning stove in Living Room. Swimming holes a one minute walk away.

Area Information

You drive over Plattekill Creek waterfall down a one-lane road with old stone fences past swimming holes and lovely views to of the mountains. There is a beautiful walk on the road. With in a couple of miles are terrific hikes. The nearby town of Saugerties has interesting antiquing, incredible chocolate at Lucky chocolates, Partitian Wines and great restaurants, the newest being Fez, a Mediterranean-Moroccan restaurant. Woodstock has an eclectic blend of stores and yummy places to eat also, such as the Bear Cafe, Red Onion and Orillol 9.

My husband, two teenage daughters and I had a very restful stay last week at this cottage in West Saugerties. It is in a lovely setting, with a beautiful view of the mountain at the front and completely privacy as it is surrounded by trees. There are nice walks to take and plenty of places to just sit and read or relax. The house itself is very nicely laid out and feels like a real home. We went on excursions to Katerskill Falls and Tannersville- about a half hour drive away and also canoeing on North South Lake. Woodstock and Saugerties are both very close, full of history and great places to eat. We'd happily return sometime!
