My wife and I recently spent a long weekend here, and the home was everything we hoped for. The owner greeted us upong arrival to show us everything and ensure we were comfortable. And, the house was stocked with everything we needed to have a great weekend. No detail was overlooked. We've stayed in several homes, and this one was by far the best experiene we've had. We can't wait to go back!

We stayed here for two weeks in the summer with our two six-year olds and had a great time. The big front yard is a wonderful place to play. On hot days we swam in the pond and hopped over rocks across the brook. We ate most of our meals on the back porch, convenient to the kitchen, and enjoyed the view, rather than eating in the dining room. At night we sat out on the big balcony above the back porch and enjoyed the Milky Way, which the kids could never see in the city. We saw rabbits and a variety of wild turkeys, smaller birds and other wildlife, both at the house and by the pond.

Everything in the house is built very well and it is clear that the builder loves fine woodwork and materials. Its Georgian architecture is different from many vacation rentals in the area, which tend to use a contemporary or colonial style, but we found it very comfortable. The huge kitchen – as big as a room in most houses - was easy to use with lots of under-counter storage and wonderful views. The kids loved watching the Olympics on the big flat-screen, but there is much to enjoy outside that we would advise setting kid limits on TV viewing the first day of your stay! On a few chilly mornings we put the heat on, which made the house toasty very quickly. We didn’t use the fireplaces (wood in the living room, gas in the master bedroom) because it was summer, but would certainly do so in the cooler months.

The owners were very helpful in showing us how everything worked and were always available by phone to answer questions (such as when we couldn’t find the light switch for the kitchen).

The nearby fruit/vegetable stand on Route 28 has an excellent and reasonably priced selection, and we also enjoyed farmer’s markets in Woodstock and Kingston. Overall we were very satisfied and would recommend this house. The kids recommend it, too.
love the catskills sag harbor.

We spent Christmas 2008 at this spectacular home with our 2 children-and we had the most delightful stay. Having rented in the greater Woodstock area for the past 7 years, we truly appreciated the fact this house was by far the most immaculate and luxurious that we have experienced thus far. The owners could not have been more gracious-they made us feel immediately at home and even left toys for our children at our request. Waking up with the mountains all around was an absolute thrill-the house is sited in a spectacular location-complete with waterfall! All the appliances are modern-the jacuzzi tubs are an added luxury-and the house is very airy and light. We truly had a joyous experience here-and look forward to renting this lovely home again in the future.
Owners Response: Our mission is to provide our guests with the best experience possible in our vacation home. It brings us such delight to hear the positive feedback!!! My husband is a builder and this was his dream to build a New Old House with historic precedence, combined with a blend of modern luxuries. The house was completed end of 2007. We are not able to live in the home full time, so we decided to convert the house to a Vacation Home. We take pride in the fact that this is a one-of-a-kind home, and that we can share this experience with our guests.

This house was really great. It was extremely comfortable, clean, and well built house. Everything you desire in a house you will find within this house.

There are plenty of bedrooms so your family will be comfortable, in the large beautiful, airy bedrooms. There is plenty of closet space (including walk-in closets), and drawer space (You can come with your entire wardrobe). I enjoyed plenty of natural sunlight (Vitamin D), as the house has plenty of huge windows. I enjoyed waking up to the view of Mt. Tremper, and the sounds of the river and lake right outside. The master bedroom is equipped with a gas fireplace, and has access to a balcony. Another bedroom has access to a desktop computer, and a large television. The third bedroom, came with twin beds, an appropriate room for families with children, and there was access to a third balcony!

The kitchen is where we had spent most of our time. It was because we are city-folk, and have to deal with tiny kitchens. We had a real chance to do some real cooking in this house. The stove and oven worked beautifully. There is plenty of counter space (all granite) to prepare meals. When the food is ready, you can either choose to eat in the dining room, or eat in the kitchen, on the bar-like counters, which come equipped with very comfortable sitting stools. The kitchen ceilings are really high, there are plenty of windows, and the kitchen is spacious indeed.

The hosts were very accommodating people. They greeted us joyfully, and made us really feel welcome. The first day we arrived, our hosts showed us how where to find everything, how to work the thermostats, and electronics, and explained all aspects of the kitchen. They let us know we could contact them if we had any problems, and made us feel comfortable and helped us adjust to this beautiful house.

I definitely recommend this location.
