Area Information
Beach goers will love York’s beaches. Long Sands is best known for its 2 mile stretch of white sand and good surfing action, while Short Sands Beach is popular for its amusement park atmosphere with a carousel, playground and arcade plus restaurants, shops and the Golden Rod candy shop that you can walk to and watch them make salt water taffy (since 1896).
In York Harbor, you will find seaside inns and resorts, plus York Harbor Beach with a gentle surf and views of the Atlantic along with the comings and goings of the boats out of the harbor. Walks across York’s Wiggly Bridge on York River or along the Cliff Walk are great ways to explore York’s waterfront and coastline.
Cape Neddick is a must visit in York. The 1879 Nubble Light is the focal point of Cape Neddick, the most photographed lighthouse in the country arguably. You can drive out to Sohier Park to take pictures of “the Nubble”, which is an island. From this vantage point you also have great views of Boon Island Light - 6 miles off shore and the Isles of Shoals. Passaconaway Beach is located on Cape Neddick as well, popular for its tidal pools during low tide.
York has numerous golf courses for avid golfers, and York’s Wild Kingdom to keep the kids entertained with Maine’s largest zoo and an amusement park full of rides, games and mini-golf.
Foodees will enjoy great seafood restaurants in York, and shops offering Maine made gourmet foods - like Stonewall Kitchen whose flagship store and cooking school are based in York.
Nature lovers will enjoy Mount Agamenticus, the tallest mountain on the Southern Maine Coast at 692’ above sea level. This was once a ski area called “Big A.” Now Mount Agamenticus is enjoyed by hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and picnickers making the short hike to the summit for views as far as Boston, Cape Elizabeth, and Mount Washington.
York is incredibly historic, as the nation’s first chartered city in 1641 and the first incorporated city in 1642. History buffs, and school age kids, should visit the Old York Historical Society which operates a community museum, including the oldest jail in America, "where history comes alive" for all ages. Here you can step back in time to New England colonial life 300 years ago. The living history museum of Old York encompasses nine buildings including the old jail, a schoolhouse and a tavern. The Museum of Old York is located in the heart of York Village.
Southern Maine Coast Lodging GuideYork is a year round community, with festivals and family events in every season including the “Lighting of the Nubble” at Christmas time to York’s Harvestfest in the Fall, and York Days in the summer.
A trip to York can be all things to everyone in the family from golfing 18 holes or kayaking the York River, to relaxing on Long Sands Beach, then cracking open a fresh Maine lobster at a York Inn or restaurant.

Reviews for this vacation home rental in York Beach, Maine

Great vacation
July 3, 2012
The property was awesome. Very clean with all the amenities of home. The outdoor shower was a huge plus. The owners were always avaible and easy to work with. The only draw back was the couple renting upstairs had litlle kids that they let run wild. I had to speak to them with no avail. I had 5 kids with me and you didn't know it. I would rent this property again.

Fabulous!
August 19, 2011
My family rented the lower level and we had plenty of room. The location was right on cue! Brief walking distance from the home to the beach or to shopping areas. When we decided to drive to the areas, we had no problem finding parking. The neighborhood was quiet, and the upper level guests were warm and welcoming- since we were not familiar with the area. The owners went out of their way to make our stay a fabulous one!

Everything you wanted in a vacation
August 15, 2011
The place is in a great location between both beaches and an easy walk to both. Everything you need to enjoy your stay is there. The place was clean and plenty of room with a great balcony/deck with a Weber grill. You won't be dissapointed. Rob

Great Location, Clean, Just Perfect!
July 2, 2011
We stayed upstairs of the house. There were 2 adults and 2 small children. It is a perfect location, just minutes to the beach. It's very quiet at night. The place was very clean and we felt comfortable. Overall we were more than satisfied and hope to return next year, for longer!!
