Description of the Yosemite National Pk vacation home rental

Secluded holiday home 20 miles from Yosemite South Gate on 2 acres, pool, seasonal creek/waterfalls & game room~~Welcome to MORNING STAR RANCH! (See more photos below on morningstar-ranch)

Our 2 bedroom & 2 bath ranch-style home comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests and is perfect for a couples get-away or family fun. The master bedroom has a King size bed, faux fireplace unit and an ensuite bathroom with separate shower stall, bathtub, dual sinks & lots of closet space. The guest bedroom is outfitted wit a Queen size bed. There are TVs in each bedroom, both connected to satellite. There is a double-sized sleeper sofa located in the living room & game room. We also have a very comfortable self-inflating, raised Queen aerobed available which can be used in the game room (summer months only) or living room. You are provided with all the necessary linens, blankets, pillows and towels as well as paper products & soaps so all you need to pack are your clothes & food.

The detached game room (converted garage a few steps from the kitchen door) has a pool table, ping pong table, darts, chess, backgammon, TV, DVD/CD player and bar with mini frig. The immediate backyard and private pool area is completely enclosed so the kids can have full run of the grassy yard, patio & wooden deck overlooking the seasonal creek with waterfalls. We also have badminton, croquet, horseshoes & a basketball hoop available for you and the kids to use after enjoying a day in the pool.

Spacious living room/dining room/kitchen area for all your entertaining needs with 30" HD TV, HBO/satellite, stereo, DVD player with surround sound & iPOD dock, WiFi, VCR player & wood burning fireplace (ample wood provided). Extensive library of DVD movies & concerts and video cassettes as well as a laptop with wireless DSL internet access & printer/scanner. And there is a phone for all your local calls or bring your calling card.

In our kitchen you will have access to every necessary applicance or kitchen gadget needed to prepare your breakfast, lunch or dinner. We provide all pots & pans, dishes, glassware & flatware as well as spices and condiments.

This secluded and very private property located between the town of Ahwahnee & Oakhurst is your own peaceful sanctuary, away from the tourists that you will meet in nearby Yosemite Valley, about an hour away. Begin your Yosemite adventure at the Mariposa Grove of giant redwoods located at the southern entrance gate to Yosemite National Park 20 miles away from our home. Or take the 60 mile drive from Highway 49 to the all-weather Scenic Highway 140 which winds along the beautiful Merced River and into the western Arch Rock entrance to Yosemite Valley.

On your way to Yosemite visit the historic Yosemite Sugar Pine Railway, with it's old-fashioned steam locomotives. Take a ride on "The Logger", stay for lunch or dinner and enjoy their entertainment.

For the snow skiers, snow boarders & cross country skiers, Badger Pass Ski Resort in Yosemite is only about an hour away and opens in mid December through spring. Tenaya Lodge is up the road 20 miles and offers outdoor ice skating and sleigh rides in the winter months. There is also a snow play area for sledding & tubing on the way to the Tenaya Lodge in Fish Camp.

When the weather warms up, be adventurous and make reservations with Zephyr Whitewater for whitewater rafting on the Merced or Tuolumne Rivers in the spring and summer. Or go for a trail ride on horseback at the stables located in Yosemite Valley or a local stable near Fish Camp just 17 miles away.

Bring your fishing pole, boat, wave runner or jet ski (or rent one at the local marina) and have a glorious day on pristine Bass Lake 10 miles away, fishing, picnicking and enjoying water sports. Horseback riding is also available locally. For the golfers, River Creek Golf Course is a public, 9-hole course where you can rent a golf cart & hit the links for $20/day and only minutes away.

Visit the town of Oakhurst (3 miles) for all your shopping needs. You will find well-stocked Vons & Raley's grocery stores, Longs & Rite-Aid drug stores, a 6-screen movie theatre, bowling alley, fine restaurants & fast food, gas stations and even Starbucks.
