Description of the Acadia vacation cottage rental
Cove's Edge Seaside Cottage offers you an opportunity to sample Acadia National Park, lobster, chowder, dining out, boating, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, ocean and freshwater swimming, hiking, walking, bicycling, blueberry picking, birding, garden touring, shopping in quaint boutiques, and more -- or to just get some quiet relaxation and reading time in your cozy oceanfront cottage. Cove's Edge Seaside Cottage is a 3-bedroom, 3-bath house right on the water with your own access to a private stretch of pebbled shore, with expansive views of the cove, islands, and open ocean beyond. It has a game room and two relaxing patios in addition to living, kitchen, and dining rooms with high-end, custom finishes in this architect-designed home. It is well suited to accommodate multiple generations or a small group of friends, where you can both enjoy common rooms as well as preserve your privacy.

You can enjoy any of several cozy nooks to settle in with a good book. Or play ping pong with friends or family on a day at home. You are surrounded by gorgeous ocean views that you can enjoy from nearly every room in the house. And you are steps away from your own private stretch of beach, where you can put in a canoe or kayak, beach comb for shells and sea treasures, or simply enjoy the view out to Maine's famous island-dotted shore, with the Nature Conservancy's Placentia Island in the distance, and Swan's Island just beyond. Every bedroom has an en suite bath. You are less than five minutes' drive from the Acadia National Park trails called Wonderland and Ship's Harbor, which bring you out to gorgeous rocky bluffs along the open ocean and Maine's famous rocky coast. A minute more and you're at Bass Harbor Head Light, the most photographed lighthouse on the U.S. East Coast. In five minutes you're in Southwest Harbor with ample opportunities for shopping, dining, and boating; in two more minutes you're hiking Acadia Mountain or swimming in Echo Lake; and in ten minutes you're in Bar Harbor, with its quaint shops, restaurants, whale watching, naturalist boating, sailing, deep-sea diving, Park tours, and many other opportunities.

Few locations in the United States can compare to the beauty and diversity of Mt. Desert Island (MDI) and Acadia National Park. Acadia National Park and its famous gateway towns are treasured the world over as some of the most beautiful spots "where the mountains meet the sea."? Ocean, lakes, mountains, miles and miles of hiking trails, dedicated bicycling and walking trails, gorgeous countryside, and the towns of Tremont, Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and Bar Harbor provide unlimited opportunities for relaxation and recreation. Come for some much-needed rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation at Cove's Edge Seaside Cottage!

Beautiful, quiet, spacious home on the water

September 18, 2016

Cove Edge is a beautiful spacious home on the water. It is stocked w everything that you would need. It has three levels, a game room and a beautiful view of the water. It is very quiet and private. It is 30 minutes from all of the crowds at Bar Harbor but an easy drive over. There are several good restaurants close by(Thurstons) and the town of Southwest Harbir is very close as is the Causeway 9 hole golf course Cove Edge is an excellent place to stay on MDI. Peter and Joy are excellent hosts. Highly recommended for your stay on MDI.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

Lovely house, great location. Really enjoyed the table tennis table and eating out at Thurstons.

My husband, father and I simply didn't want to leave. Each day we were torn between going out to enjoy the surrounding area and staying at home to enjoy the house and Duck Cove right outside the door. The place was spotless and well stocked. We were particularly grateful for the laundry detergent since that was something we did not think to bring with us. Nice touch. Views were superb, beds were comfortable, house nicely laid out, and we so enjoyed the ping pong -- our nightly tournaments provided much hilarity! Communication with Joy and Peter couldn't have been better. Our stay was totally perfect, and we hope to return for a longer stay next time.

We could not have been more thrilled with our choice for our recent stay "Downeast." Location is positively blissful... Our days were bookended with beautiful sunrises and awesome sunsets. Easy access to the park and wonderful hikes. No shortage of great food nearby. House is well equipped for one's every need. Would return here in a heartbeat!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are fun activities to do in the area?
A: Acadia National Park on Mt. Desert Island (MDI) offers just about every kind of opportunity for physical recreation or sublime relaxation that you can think about. Hang out on the beach -- either fresh water or oceanside -- with fellow beachgoers, or quietly in private: you decide. Go shopping. Take in a ranger-led program at the Park. Go for an interpretive boat ride and learn about the islands and wildlife, cycle along any of the 50 miles of Carriage Paths. Or just kick back and let someone take you on a sail around the outer islands. You can hike, walk, fish, swim, canoe, enjoy a meal dockside or on linen tablecloths, visit a museum or a beautiful garden; catch up on your reading. Acadia can be about whatever you want it to be but, most of all, Acadia is about getting out and enjoying nature.
Q: Can you give us some examples of activities you recommend?
A: Here?s a sampling of activities within 2 to 20 minutes of your accommodation at Acadia Seaside Cottages:
Walk on your own private beach. Right outside your door, down your own private steps is beachcomber?s
paradise. Canoeists and kayakers can explore protected Duck Cove.
Tour Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse.
Visit the shops in Bar Harobor, enjoy a meal, or just stroll the sidewalks for some eclectic window shopping.
Rent a canoe on Long Lake.
Hike Acadia Mountain, then swim in Echo Lake at the end of the trail.
Rent bikes at Southwest Cycle in Southwest Harbor for a tour around the Carriage Paths.
Get an ice cream at the Quiet Side Caf? in Southwest Harbor (they have some of the best blueberry pie in the
region, too, and we might add).
Eat lobster on the pier at Thurston?s in Bernard (lunch is best since it's less crowded).
Take in a round of golf at the Causeway Club in Southwest Harbor.
Do the driving tour on Park Loop Road in the Park, and then enjoy traditional tea and popovers at the Jordan
Pond House, or a day at Sand Beach.
Take in Ship Harbor Nature Trail.
Walk the Wonderland Nature Trail (also accessible to wheel chairs and strollers).
Glide on your cedar front-porch glider in the evening, as the sun sets over the cove and the outer islands.
Add your favoite activity! Blueberry picking on the Carriage Paths? Dinner and a show in Bar Harbor?
Q: Is it easy to kayak or canoe in the cove?
A: Yes it is. You can have kayaks delivered to your door by a local outfitter and enjoy them throughout your stay. The cove is a nice protected area in which to paddle and explore - and then adventurers can venture out into the open ocean for an even greater adventure. Gorgeous views, lovely water; very refreshing.
Q: Are linens included?
A: Yes, we provide bath and bed linens; if you'd like beach towels, please plan to bring your own.
Q: Can our well-behaved pet join us?
A: No, we do not allow pets of any kind - not even our own dogs join us. In our experience, everyone believes their pet is well behaved, but it is not always the case, and anyway, we do not allow pets as a courtesy to all of our guests, some of whom have allergies.
