Description of the Ahwahnee vacation estate rental
This is a luxury estate that has pool, jacuzzi (natural rock), fully fenced, privacy and centrally located. It is a vacation rental by owner that is managed by us. There are no fees to book thru us.
People call the Ahwahnee Riverbend Area spectacular (it is), we call it Shangri-La. Ross and I chose these beautiful mountain meadows for the weather and location. Our meadow is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It really is amazing and truly Warm and Wonderful.
Wait until you see the house, check out the photos! There are private gates and a Redwood lined driveway entrance and separate exit for trucks, boats, and horse trailers.
This house is 4800 sq ft (7 1/2 acres) of beautiful. The kitchen is really big with lovely grey quartzite countertops and easy to use appliances and ample counter space to cook.
The laundry room is big with new washer, dryer and plenty of room for food in the walk-in pantry.
The house has two full suites (one Cal King, one Queen) with private entrance bathrooms (one suite can have TWO private entrance bathrooms) and both have private entrance/exit from the house. The Master has a fireplace (gas and wood, usable in winter). The second King has a lovely view of the meadows and bathroom is across the hall. We have an additional standard double bed that sleeps one very comfortably with a private entrance/exit from the house. Our capacity at this time is seven people. We have four bedrooms and 3? bathrooms.
There are three flat screen TVs (all have DVD). One in the Master Suite (45in), really big one in the den (52in), and the third (36in) is in front of the fireplace in the living room. You have full Dish satellite with movies and the ability to start a show in one room and finish it in another. We even have a work out room. It has a TV with DVD (and VCR) for our library of movies and shows. If you need our high speed Internet, that is OK, too.
If you calculate roof size of house, barn, horse shelters, pool house, garage, breezeways, patio, porches (all covered), two well houses (plenty of water) there's
10,000 sq ft of Malibu Blue roof on our lovely ranch style estate. The pool is quite large, too. It is about 40,000 gal and Jacuzzi (heats up fast) is about 400 gal. The natural rock waterfall is almost one story high. The deck around the pool has plenty of room for our four umbrellas and seating. One huge umbrella partially covers the pool for our sun-sensitive guests. The Jacuzzi has a (November to March only) fire pit (propane) that is easy to use and wonderful to sit and talk. Our motto is "Sit Long, Talk Much".
We are less than five miles from a rockin mountain village with 20 great restaurants, a full multi screen cinema, microbrewery, and Raley's grocery; famous for quality markets in Bel Aire and Knob Hill. There are numerous art galleries, retail stores, and farmer's markets. We are ? mile from Hwy 49 and our area is very accessible. Our little paradise sits almost in the middle of the front (Oakhurst) and back (Mariposa) gates to Yosemite National Park. Yosemite is too beautiful for words. You can ride a narrow gage logging train, see Glacier Point, Bridleveil Falls, or just wander the glories of nature. Now THAT is truly spectacular.
If you like water sports, 12 miles away you can play at Bass Lake (four more large lakes are less than an hour away) in season waterskiing, boating, fishing (rod + fly) and a classy restaurant and bar with patio overlooking the lake and boat dock. The lake is beautiful because spring rain makes it clean, crisp, and clear.
Just 1 ? miles north on Hwy 49 is the hottest Cowboy bar in two counties with dancing, big screen TV for sports, great food and tons of local color.
We are less than a mile from "Open Range" where cattle and their calves graze along the road and we have a working cattle ranch two miles away where you can watch real cowboys (and cowgirls) sort and rope cattle.
You can pan for gold (good luck with that) a half mile away at a secluded riverside park. We're walking distance from a darling nine hole golf course with restaurant, bar, and a real Chef. (ooh, yummy: he sure can cook! Also, available for special
events; as is the Golf Course). There is another 18 hole golf course about four miles away. The meadows in this area are lovely and perfect for all season activities as you see from the photos of the estate.
If you are road weary travelers, couples wishing an exclusive get-away (rarely see neighbors, they are some distance away), best friends that just want to chill, or crave to wander the mountains with your equine pet (we have maps). This is the place for you.
Summer is fun and winter is exciting here at Ahwahnee Riverbend. Snow at 2000 feet elevation usually only lasts until 10am when the sun comes out, which makes travel much easier. But no worries! There is usually plenty of snow in the Snow Play area up in the Nat'l Forest, 12 miles up the mountain. People love to snow shoe, sleigh ride, cross-country and sled. You can trail ride all year long, summer in the mountains, winter down on the flats. You can 4-wheel drive, Yosemite Zip, horseback ride, hike, bike, ride the railroad, work cattle, ski (both kinds), swim, sightsee, shop, browse art galleries, eat, play, and love.
This is our home. We left LA, found Ahwahnee and never looked back. One of our best friends already bought a place here and another best buddy is looking for property. What does that tell you? We love it, our horses love it, EVERYBODY loves it, you will, too. This is a beautiful area and a super place to stay.

Warmest regards,

Louisa and Ross Weddle

Area Information
Yosemite National Park, centrally located on the South Gate, 4.5 miles from Oakhurst (rockin' little mountain town with excellent restaurants), 20 minutes from Mariposa County Fairgrounds (down home, old fashioned fun!) with shows and events almost every weekend including the fair and demo derby. We are 1 mile from open range where real cowboys and cowgirls work cattle. Just a mile up Scenic Hwy 49 is the hottest cowboy bar in two counties and it has interesting local color, dancing, bands and really good food (huge cowboy style portions), too.
We're only 15minutes from Bass Lake with water skiing, fishing (both kinds), resort overlooking a clear water natural lake that has boats for rent, two great restaurants and a lodge featured in several movies; picturesque and quaint, there is always something to do in Bass Lake and picnic sites along the lake are numerous and usually attached to beaches for swimming, docking the boat for lunch, etc. etc.
Up in the park you have, hiking, biking, riding, cross country, down hill, and snow shoeing. There are meadows to walk to remote mountain lakes, and streams in the wilderness. BUT before you even get into the far reaches of our famous park (125 yrs old this year, thank you very much) you can ride the Narrow Gage RR up on a steam train with hollowed out Sequoia's as seats and the steam engine is huge, neat and they let sometimes let you climb on for photos. Just into the park is Mariposa Grove, Bridleveil Falls, Glacier Point and the Yosemite Visitor's Bureau Guide will open your eyes to a land your children, your children's children and hopefully for as long as it already has stood, enjoyment. Come along, all are welcome. When you tire of the local sites you have the estate to come home to with the horses lulling in the mountain meadow. With or without horses this is a beautiful place.
