A detached 17th century cottage on the outskirts of Alston in Cumbria that can sleep two people in one bedroom.Skelgill Rigg is a detached cottage on the outskirts of Alston in Cumbria. It has one twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room and can sleep two people. Also inside is a kitchen, utility, dining room and sitting room. Outside is ample off road parking, front and rear lawns and a front patio with furniture. Skelgill Rigg is a charming cottage in a fantastic secluded location.

Amenities: Electric central heating. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer, smart TV with Freeview, WIFI. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Ample off road parking. Lockable bike storage. Front and rear lawn, front patio with furniture. Two well-behaved pets welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Pub and shop 1 mile. Note: No children under the age of 7 years. Note: Please note there are two steps up/down from the front door.

Region: Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Town: Alston is in the North Pennines in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by moorland, hills, rivers and waterfalls, and is England's highest market town. This town, with its cobbled streets and nooks and crannies, was the filming location Jane Eyre and Oliver Twist. Alston and the North Pennines have inspired artists and writers; the poet and writer W H Auden loved the area. There is a host of shops in the town including crafts and galleries. Take a ride on one of the steam engines through the South Tyne valley on the South Tynedale Railway. The River Tyne is also noted as one of the finest salmon rivers in England and day-ticket fishing is available. The North Pennines used to be one of the wealthiest lead mining centres in Europe, and the Killhope Lead Mining Museum offers a family day out with interactive exhibitions. With the drive along the A686 recognised by the AA as one of the world's best drives, and northern Cumbria, County Durham and Northumberland, all within easy reach, this makes a superb base.
