Description of the Amelia vacation villa rental
Poggio Le Stalle is a beautifully restored spacious 18c stone farmhouse with pool. The tranquil location sets the scene for a relaxing holiday for families and groups of friend who are looking for spacious self catering accommodation in a traditional rural location. Snuggled on the edge of a nature reserve it has stunning views over a virtually private valley stretching to the Terminillo mountain range. The 300 sq m villa is on two floors with many origional features maintained. The arched spaces downstairs were where the cows were once stabled while upstairs were the farmers' living quarters. A large veranda with a vine-strewn pergola, perfect for al fresco dining, overlooks beautifully maintained terraced gardens, with fruit trees and vegetables, that sweep down to the swimming pool (14x7m)

Area Information
Set in the heart of rural Umbria the villa is truly idyllic countryside retrea. Cut off from the bustle of city life it is reached by a drive along a dirt track. The asphalt road stops at our local village Macchie which is a 5 minute drive, or 15 minute walk away. The villagers are very welcoming and the village shop -despite its small size, stocks most of what guests might need.
The medieval walled town of Amelia, whose cyclopean walls are reputedly older than the walls of Rome is just a short drive away. Lesser known than Tuscany (and therefore less spoilt by tourism) Umbria boasts many famous Umbria medieval towns, such as Orvieto, Narni, Todi and other less known but truly charming smaller ones. The villa offers a great base for exploring the delights of Umbria. Rome is a 90 minute drive away.
For those who wish to stay close to home there are plenty of activities on offer, from horse riding and pizza making to language courses and and wine tasting or, if you simply want to relax, we can offer reflexology, shiatsu, massage, reiki or yoga.
