we come again
just a short note to thank you very much for our enjoyable stay in your apartment over the weekend. it worked perfectly for us - being relaxed enough for us to really feel at home in amsterdam, and so central we could walk out and explore the city. my grandfather really enjoyed his stay and we hope to be able to visit again.

we have been to amsterdam during the years, 3 or 4 times, this stay was the best.
raamstraat appartment we were 5 persons: mother and father, daughter and husband, and the precious grandchild, haakon 3 years old. the flat suited us fine in every respect. the location is perfect, 50 meters from prinsengracht and still quiet. enough space. haakon loved the small attic, spent a lot of time there playing. my wife and i loved the garden. kitchen excellent, fully equipped but there could have been more plates, forks and spoons. bathroom excellent, beautiful bathtub. the small disadvantage is that the shower and the wc is in the same room, making mornings a little bit stressing. not much. good beds. good books. lots of vivid colors. lighting a little sparingly done. to let in enough light is the challenge in all these long and narrow channel houses in amsterdam. no doors, the whole flat is more or less one big room, so people who are staying have to know and like each other well. or be young. many cafes and eateries around and a good supermarket in 5 minutes walking distance. and the best: the child could roam around freely, nothing to be afraid of breaking. a huge advantage. amsterdam in may is a great experience. we loved it. we have been to amsterdam during the years, 3 or 4 times, this stay was the best. i recommend raamstraat , great place. kind regards, hidas family.

the rest of my review...
the one posted below cut off before the end: ...no phone or internet (only a problem if you need to confirm flights or call a taxi) the owners have several other apartments around the city, including a larger one in this same building. we very much enjoyed our stay--while the furnishings are basic, the location is excellent, and the place is clean and cozy. a good value for a low price, much better than a comparably priced hotel room.

convenient & cozy
we stayed a week at the studio achterhuis. the owners, fred & kitty, met us there upon arrival, and were very nice. the studio is in the red light area (between dam square & the waag--convenient to trams, with good restaurants & coffeeshops nearby) but the apartment doesn't face the street so it's quiet at night. it has a teenytiny terrace, but wet weather prevented us from using it. nice to look at tho, and makes the fairly small room seem larger (in fairness, most hotel rooms are no bigger). it's only one flight of stairs up to the studio. it has a small kitchen area (coffeemaker, stove, refrig) and a good shower, and adequate heating. two single beds pushed together (standard in ams), and a tv with a couple of english channels (bbc news & cnn int'l). no phone or internet.

at home in the jordaan
my wife and i have booked the 'mokum' flat for the past three visits to amsterdam. fred and kitty are wonderful hosts that provide as much or as little assistance as you may need. we consider 'lieve nachten' our home when in a'dam and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. the surrounding neighbourhood is filled with many fine restaurants, bars, cafes, coffeeshops, grocers, bakers, and boutiques. you never have to go far to get anything. you won't regret staying here!

feeling home easily in amazing amsterdam
upon entering this big canal view room/loft in the real centre/red light district, we felt very comfortable and very safe. - no problem with noise after closing the big windows. 4 of our 9 heads group stayed here but it was the central meeting and relaxing point for the whole group and the other 5 were jealous ;) it`s worth to mention and view (!) the beautiful chairs from ghana ;) not to forget: kitty and fred are lovely landlords!!!

hi kitty. i haven't had a chance to write you since we've been home, but i just wanted to tell you what a lovely time we had in amsterdam. the apartment was just perfect, and i've been telling anyone who will listen that they should stay with you if they're ever in the city. you can bet that next year when we come on our business trip, we'll be staying with you again. thanks again. reg grandis, canada

home from home
i organised a trip for six 24-26 year old friends and all were very impressed. lovely area away from the night life, yet just a peacefull stroll through the streets past the devine cafe's and restaurant's and all of a sudden everything comes to life. this truely is an ideal sanctuary for anyone. i'm on my way back already, this time to bring my wife for our wedding anniversary. see you in february!

staying here is an absolute must!
we stayed at apartment vanbinnenuit, a very cool apartment that i wish was my own! it's huge, very modern with lots of asian/moroccan touches. we were totally amazed. better than any hotelroom could ever be...i've never stayed in a hotel where i had my own garden, huge soaker tub with jacuzzi, and a great selection of books. the kitchen wasn't terribly clean, that's the only negative thing i can think of. the owner of the apartment (who stays at her other house when vanbinnenuit is booked) must have been in a rush to clean and get out of there before we arrived.

travel oasis apartment in wonderful neighborhood
this was the perfect situation for us: clean and creatively decorated, quiet, location in jordaan with small shops nearby, which allows a bit of self-catering, and friendly host. we stayed almost a week, and wished we stayed longer.

fabulous apartment
me and my family stayed for 1 week at the apartment vanbinnenuit. this is a very spacious place to stay and to entertain our several friends who were in town. the apartment was decorated with attractive, comfortable furniture. the large outside garden just added to the ambience. the location was very convenient to everything. i highly recommend this apartment.

pleasant stay in studio
i had three nights stay at lieve nachtens achterhuis studio which is located at lively night life area near damplein. the studio was in good condition. it was a nice apartment with a small kitchen. the studio was on backside of a canal house so the the noises from the street did not reach the apartment. i should say that in studio i had everything that is necessary but no extra luxuries. the apartment was clean and practical, and compared to regular hotel prices in a'dam the price of achterhuis was very pleasant. the staff was friendly, they even paid my taxi ride from reception (in jordaan area) to studio (dam-nieuwmarkt area.

wonderful place to stay
having stayed in both apt. mokum and studio acterhuis, i rate both very highly. comfortable, convenient, affordable--what more can you ask for? and the neighborhood around lieve nachten is marvelous (lots of great bars and restaurants).

studio achterhuis near dam
the studio is located in a office building very close to dam square at the far end of a red light district canal. spotlessly clean, newly decorated, comfy beds, powerful shower and even your own outside terrace.
