Description from owner

Our house is in the midtown area of Anchorage, within a few miles to everywhere. The first time we saw it, we fell in love with it by its convenient location close to the University of Alaska, hospital, well-known Anchorage Botanical Garden, and an easy access to local restaurants and shops. Two bus lines will take you to downtown and large shopping malls.

We do both B&B and short-term whole house rental. The property, renovated in recent years, has a contemporary and artistic feel. Two bedrooms face east and one faces south, each is bathed in a plenty of sunshine. Located at the back of the house is the Reflection Lake that offers a full view to the living room and the backyard deck. The summer sunset takes quite a few hours and one can enjoy the sunshine on the deck till 11 pm. Frequently you can see kayaks or canoes drifting and ducks splashing water for fun.

Inside the property, there are two floors. On the first floor, you see the sitting room with a large window overlooking the lake, the eating area, the kitchen, a powder room (a half bath), and a French door to the deck. You can choose to have your breakfast either on the deck under the pavilion or at the eating area inside while enjoying the lake view. On the second floor, we have three bedrooms (the Peony Room, the Bamboo Room, and the Calligraphy Room). Spacious and airy, the Peony Room has a king-size bed and an on-suit full bath. The Bamboo Room is smaller with a queen-size bed; the Calligraphy Room has a queen-size futon, opposite which is the second full bathroom in the hallway. All rooms are very clean, eye-appealing, and comfortable to stay. There is a TV in the Peony Room and the Bamboo Room respectively, and a desk computer in the Calligraphy Room. We also have a loft on the second floor, a place to relax, watch TV, and hang out in the evening. It can easily host one person or two to sleep; a new mattress is provided there. Children particularly love the place. Opposite the loft area is the laundry room where you can use the washer and dryer. Feel free to use the facilities; detergent, ironing facilities are provided for your convenience.

Seeing is believing; you're welcome to stay at our property and you will surely enjoy your morning and evening at the house when you return from the daily exciting trips in Anchorage or close-by areas.

About the area

At the heart of Anchorage, our neighborhood is quiet and nice place to stay. It is next to the Anchorage Botanical Garden, a must-to-see place during your stay and it is a few minutes away from a golf course and trails. University of Alaska Anchorage and hospital are within 3 minutes' drive. Driving towards north, you can reach Wasilla Big Lake area and Matanuska Glacier. You can also pass Long Lake where the beauty always presents itself. Heading towards south, you can drive along one of the most beautiful highways in the US: the Seward Highway which takes you to Whittier, Alyeska, Portage, Cooper Landing, and Seward. You can take a cruise to see Glaciers at the sea or enjoy fishing in the beautiful water of the world's famous Kenai River. Choosing where to stay is choosing a life attitude. By nature, we, Jason and Annie have been exploratory in our lifetime. We came over 20 years ago from China and put down the roots in the U.S. to study, work, and enjoy life. We have stayed in Arizona, Utah, Michigan, and Alaska. We like them all for their respective uniqueness, particularly Alaska for its natural beauty, colorful outdoor events all year round, and its people. We highly appreciate what we have experienced. We also love cooking, traveling, classical music, and entertaining friends. We want to proudly share with you our experiences in Alaska—a piece of paradise. “Anchorage Stay”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2016

The vacation home was beautiful and in a great location. The master bed was incredibly hard and the home really only has two bedrooms for sleeping. The extra beds would do for children but not adults. Overall it was a great stay and Annie was very helpful.
