Owner's reply: Thanks Barbara. Was great meeting you!

“Owners are very friendly-easy access to highways”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2016

The owners live on the property and are very friendly. The price for the accommodations was reasonable. Parking was accessible and the views were nice. Nothing fantastic about this property but the price and as the saying goes - you get what you pay for. The apartment was on the second floor and you have to carry luggage, groceries, etc upstairs. The beds were very uncomfortable. You could feel the mattress coil springs. The pillows were stained. Most of the dishes were chipped pottery. (There is a pottery studio onsite) and the Inside of the cabinets were dirty. The drawer underneath the stove was filthy and had a cast iron skillet in it which looked like it had some kind of cornmeal in it. There is a gas grill on the deck but it took forever to cook a hamburger as most of the burners didn't work. Only one half of the toaster worked. In the walk-in closet in the master bedroom, there are numerous types of sheets, towels etc. There was a lot of what appeared to be cat-hair on most of the towels. They did have some new towels which when used left you covered in brown lint as the towels had not been pre-washed. We had trouble getting the washer to work and my daughter discovered you had to place both hands around the dial and press and turn at the same time. I reported all this to the owner and she said that was a new washer (I don't think so) she said it'll give her husband something to do. I guess he's in charge of cleaning and maintaining the rental. The location was excellent and it was quiet. My daughter did see Moose in the back yard on 3 of the mornings that we stayed there. A baby, a mama and a bull moose. This would be an excellent rental if the owners would invest in new mattresses, bedding, linens, pillows, dishes, coffee cups, flatware, pots & pans and update the small appliances, Get a new Gas Grill and fix the washing machine dial. There was a shelf in the refrigerator that you couldn't use because everything slid off of it and everything in one drawer was frozen solid. They also need to clean out all the kitchen and bathroom cabinets of the dirt, clutter and stock it as if they lived there. There were food items in the cupboard that I would have thrown away. We probably wouldn't stay there again but the price was reasonable and the owners were very nice.

Owner's reply: Mary Tate, I am sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction. I wish I knew before the day you checked out, we would have done our best to meet your needs. I took a hike with your daughter one day and she only expressed how pleased she was with the place. Similarly previous and subsequent guests Have not mentioned any issues. We will look into these items right away.
