Description from owner

Cute little off-grid timber frame surrounded by thousands of acres of woods, streams & trails; perched on a hardwood ridge with amazing panoramic views of the valley. ATV, snowmobile, snowshoe or hike right from the cabin. Everything is sparkling clean at Moose Mountain Cabin on Skyline Ridge; the cabin is fully equipped with water, linens, towels, pots, pans, silverware, dishes, etc.

Even the approach is scenic; drive to the tiny village of Andover at the end of the state highway #5. Continue north into the mountains, and the road soon turns to dirt. Drive along the babbling Sawyer Brook for another mile. Turn right just before the road turns into a snowmobile trail in rugged Notch. Wind your way up onto the ridge through a beautiful birch forest. Drive to the very end of the road and you're there!

Settle in, enjoy the panoramic mountain view from the huge open deck under the hemlock trees. No TV, no noise, no traffic, no people. Set on the porch, sipping stove-top percolated steamy coffee. Doze off in the hammock under the towering hemlock trees. You won't miss electricity. Snuggle by the wood stove and play checkers or read. Just you, your family, (including your pets!) and books, board games, crossword puzzles, cards, campfire, woods, streams, waterfalls, owls, turkeys, deer, moose and mountains, lots of mountains. Wander down the trail and see a moose. Find antler sheds. Snow shoe, ski, hike, bike, ATV, kayak... or... just SIT and do nothing! Wake up in the morning and enjoy the panoramic mountain view, without moving a muscle, from the huge bedroom window. Additional huge windows in the kitchen and living room assures you will not miss the gorgeous sunset from any room. Even the bathroom!!

The cabin is non-electric so you can UNPLUG... no intrusions from the outside world. For your comfort and convenience, it has gas lights, a gas refrigerator/freezer, a full size gas range with oven and BBQ grill on the deck. The attached bathroom has a clean, odor free composting toilet, seasonal gravity fed solar-heated shower and a sink. Drinking and washing water, and firewood for the wood stove are provided. There is a comfy new QUEEN bed in a private bedroom; two twin size beds in the cozy loft, window overlooking the mountains. WE ARE PET FRIENDLY; do not leave Fido behind! There is plenty of room for him to run.

PLEASE NOTE: We are on a hill, it provides the AWESOME view; AWD/4WD, and good tires required in winter! November through April. Expect snow, ice, mud, wind... this is an outpost!

“Simply Amazing!”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2019

What a wonderful experience this has been. To begin with, Brenda is very easy and prompt when it comes to communication. She was very helpful through email and text with any questions or concerns we had. After two days of traveling we had finally made it to our destination and my wife and I were left breathless at the view. Neither of us had been to that part of the country before, so we had seen some very pretty sites and landmarks. But nothing had prepared us for what was just out our backdoor. We stopped by a local grocery store to pick up a few things before heading to the cabin. Brenda and her family stocked the cabin with fresh water, fire wood, and basic cooking supplies. All of which of course came in handy. We got quite a bit of snow our second night there. That was fine though because they also were sure to supply a few forms of entertainment in board games and books in case of such an event. This is a perfect place to go to unwind. That's why we headed out there and I have to say that I am not the least bit disappointed. We are hoping to make this an annual trip now and I would highly suggest the same for anyone interested.

Owner's reply: Wayne, we are so glad you had such a peaceful and amazing experience. It is a wonderful place to unwind and just be in God's country with no intrusions. Hope to see you again soon!

This was our third stay at the Moose Mountain cabin, and we had a fantastic time as we always do! We even managed to spot a moose from the comfort of the cabin. The wood burning stove kept the cabin nice and cozy even with the wind howling outside. We managed to do some hiking while the weather was decent and once it got really cold we stayed in the cabin and played lots of board games (the cabin has a few but we brought some of our own). We can't wait to come back again soon!

Owner's reply: Glad you were able to stay warm on such frigid nights!! It is a cozy little cabin, so cool to be surrounded by nothing but woods and nature. Come again soon!

We absolutely loved out stay at Moose Mountain Cabin. The cabin far exceeded our expectations as it had everything we needed and the views were spectacular. We loved listening to the barred owls and coyotes while we made smore's by the fire and the hike up Whitecap mountain was awesome. We can't wait to return and hopefully rent the kayaks for a trip on the " the pond in the river" next time. Thanks again Lance and Brenda.

Owner's reply: Thank YOU, Joanne! It is a quiet, simple way of life, and we just love it that people can share and appreciate it with us!

my wife n i was looking for a place to stay for our anniversary we usually find a nice old inn with all the amenities or a cottage on the lake. while i was looking i came across moose mountain camps after some research n lots of reviews later off the grid in the mountains we went. I have to say it was everything we expected and a lot more. The weather was as beautiful as the views of the mountains from our back deck. The nights was clear as we sat out on the deck and watched the stars, satellites and shooting stars. AMAZING PLACE... Lance and Brenda are such a great couple my wife n had the chance to talk with them and get a tour of there amazing off grid log home. They're the kind of couple who make you feel like family or that you've known them forever. so if you have your doubts about staying in a place off grid with amazing views. Make sure to try lil red hen for breakfast food is all home made and best breakfast ive ever had (great place to people watch) lots of thru hikers there from the A.T. get ready for a relaxing weekend or week. Thank you Lance n Brenda for letting us stay in your camp!!!! Chris n Brandy Colson

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed 5 wonderfully relaxing days at Moose Mountain Cabin. We used our car only once, for a short drive to Ellis Pond, for a fun day of leisurely kayaking with excellent kayaks rented from Brenda. The cabin was inviting and comfortable, with handy instructions for everything – including take-with-you maps of area trails. We hope to return next year for another dose of stunning views, naps in the hammock, camp fires, meals on the deck, star gazing, and unwinding.

Owner's reply: Hi Denise & Fred; So glad we could make happy a couple from Jersey City, a place my parents hailed from! It is rewarding to be able to provide an off grid woods experience to city folks, and have them thoroughly enjoy it! Hope to see you again!

“Amazing views and privacy!”

I booked this cabin for my husband's birthday. We were immediately taken back by how adorable the cabin was inside and by the breathtaking views. Placing the bed in front of the picture window was genius. We enjoyed the off grid experience of having to light propane lights and tend to our wood stove which was already going for us when we arrived. The composting toilet was even a neat experience. I did not realize the effort it took to wash dishes without unlimited hot water.....something you don't think about normally. The morning of our 2nd day we realized that some awful weather was going to hit Andover and when I called Brenda to inquire about the road conditions she acknowledged that it might be best to check out being we were driving a car and not a truck or a 4x4. She also credited us a free night in the future for us having to cut our trip one night short which was very sweet of her. We will come back in the summer when the weather is more pleasant for outdoor activities. Staying in an off grid home, even for one night, makes you appreciate all the amenities you normally take for granted at home. I love to do things that change my perspective and allow me to find myself. When we arrived home I realized I left my makeup bag (that's what I get for trying to look pretty in seclusion) and Brenda so graciously searched for it and arranged to mail it back to me! Great experience and great hosts!

Owner's reply: Chrissy; Thank you for the kind words.... I feel bad when people have to leave early due to conditions beyond their control! I did send out your makeup bag Monday via USPS. See you this summer!

“Absolutely Beautiful”

My Wife and I came to celebrate her birthday. It was quiet and awesome! A wonderful place to get away from it all to recharge. The nights were awesome and the stars in the night sky were so close you could reach out and almost touch them. Wonderful scenery. We are definitely rebooking soon. If it were possible I would give this 10 stars..
