Description of the Arbor Vitae vacation home rental
Tamarack is an authentic Northwoods log Lodge on 5 acres with 600' of great S. Trout Lake shoreline. Although convenient to many Northwoods pursuits, it seems remote and away from it all, on a pristine and tranquil lakefront that's absolutely perfect for any aquatic recreation.

Tamarack Lodge is at the very epicenter of many Northwoods activities - like the Trout Lake Golf Club you can play just across the street. It's less than 10 minutes from jet airport KARV and just a bit further to Minocqua, Manitowish, Lac du Flambeau, Discovery Center, Boulder, and very close to some of the best biking, ATV, and hiking trails in the N. Highland Forest.

Located at this great spot on the Northwoods' premier Trout Lake, Tamarack Lodge easily accommodates 10 in its 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. Despite many requests, it's only now available for the first time in 70 years.

The Lodge itself sits less than 15 yards from shore so you're up-close to your family's water activities on its incomparable combination of sandy beach, medium banks and optimum depths for everyone from splashing toddlers, to skiing teens, and fishing dads.

It's a very short walk to meals on the large and spacious dock, or an evening of fishing and then watching the sun set and the Milky Way's stars come out. You'll also enjoy panoramic lake and island views from almost every room, even when working in the kitchen or at the 2 office spaces in one of the master suites.

Tamarack is an ideal spot for entertaining your friends. The large waterfront porch and dining room are great party spaces that can spill-over onto the patio around its firepit, or into the living room around the huge fireplace. Each of those areas or dining room table easily seats 10, as does the dock and the lakeshore campfire. So bring your old guitar.

And the kids have an acre of lawns for Frisbee golf and other games. The historic lodge comfortably sleeps 8 in its 4 bedrooms, with 3 kings and 1 double. If you prefer, we can replace a king with 2 singles, and if those are bunkbeds, then the lodge accommodates 10. 2 of the 4 bathrooms are in the master suites with showers. There's a large, comfortable classic clawfoot tub (and shower) in a hall bathroom.

The Lodge was built of full tamarack logs in 1907 with authentic artisanal touches throughout, so that you're transported back to the era of loggers and trappers as soon as you walk in.

A full-time skilled caretaker is on site (but out of your sight) and available 24-7 to ensure all facilities are fully operational at all times. They could also provide personal assistance at a commensurate hourly cost. This includes anything from shopping to sailing lessons, maybe even babysitting or laundry, maybe.

Area Information
Tamarack is a unique mix of being equally close to the region's recreation and entertainment centers, including many excellent restaurants - yet also seemingly away from it all in a quiet cove that's sheltered from prevailing breezes. That bay seems remote because it's sparsely populated, except for the abundant variety of wildlife. You're likely to see eagles, loons, ducks, otter, fox, etc. cruising by on or near your shore.

Trout is a large and exceedingly clear lake, with one of the most diverse and fruitful fisheries. Most of its shore is state forest so it remains wilderness that's perfect for an evening pontoon tour, or morning paddle. And right from your own beach you can set off on an afternoon canoe expedition down the scenic Trout River.

Local Activities

Nearby Activities include: Discovery Nature Center, free water ski shows in Minocqua and Manitowish, Wildwood Zoo, go-karts, horseback riding, golf courses, Winter Park, mini and Frisbee golf, Lake of the Torches Casino, frequent festivals and art tours, excellent restaurants and shopping, farmers' markets, Friday night fish-frys, lumberjack show, Indian Art Center and pow wows, live music, concerts, plays, lakeside church services and exercise groups, guided fishing, ..etc., etc.

DISCAB (715-892-TAXI ) has a minivan for pickup at any regional airport (Delta flies MSP to RHI, United, Delta, & AA to CWA and private planes to KARV).
