Area Information

The location of the apartment on the stunning "Athens Riviera", makes it ideal for a relaxing quality seaside holiday all year round, but also to visit Athens without actually staying in the busy Greek capitol itself and has it's own private parking space.
Our area is known for it's great sandy beaches, three of which at a close walking distance from the apartment, all with a beach bar/restaurant, umbrellas and free lounge chairs. One beach also offers a free tennis and basketball court and a small playground for children. Dozens more of other sandy and rocky organized and non organized beaches can be found all along the coastline.

A mini market, a large bakery and a Greek restaurant are at a 400m walk from the apartment; various other shops, a supermarket, cafetaria's and restaurants are on the main road, at just a 1 km (3/4 mile) walk from the apartment.

The apartment is located on the coast 35 km south of Athens center, which is easily and quickly accessible by urban public transport.
There is a bus stop at just 600m, from where the express bus leaves every 15 minutes to the newly opened (July 2013) Elliinikon Metro (subway) station, which takes you straight to the Acropolis and into Athens center.

Another advantage is that the apartment also at just 20 minutes by car from Athens International Airport.

Athens, best known for the Acropolis, has a lot to offer. From taking you on a journey to ancient times as the birthplace of democracy with many stunning archeological sites to visit in the old part of town, to a modern city with shopping boulevards and a "buzzing" nightlife. One of the highlights of the city is the famous "Plaka" tourist area around the Acropolis, full of little shops and restaurants, where one feels like being on a Greek island. The newly opened (2011) award winning Acropolis museum, the Lycabettus hill, in the center of town with it's "Teleferic" cable cart inside the mountain, taking you up the mountain for a stunning view of Athens and the harbor of Piraeus. "Monastiraki" with it's famous flea market, the "posh" Kolonaki area with top brand name stores, the stadium of the first modern Olympic games and of course it's modern center with the parliament and the traditional Greek presidenial guards.

Several nice villages and sights are in the vicinity of the apartment, such as the famous Cape Sounion with it's magical sunset and ancient temple of Poseidon,Varkiza, with it's cafetarias and restaurants and lovely seaside walking boulevard and the popular "Yabanaki" beach restaurant/bar for a romantic night out; the picturesque Porto Rafti bay which gives you the feel of being on a Greek Island, Vravrona (Artemida), with the ancient temple of Artemis (goddess of nature and women), shopping 'heaven' Glyfada with it's many cafetaria's, bars and buzzing nightlife, the villages of Saronida and Anavisos with it's many fish restaurants, the lively port of Lavrio where one can take a stroll on seaside and take the ferry to tzia (kia) island.

Day excursions can be made to Corinth (with it's impressive ancient city, Byzantine caste on the mountain top and the famous Corinth canal), combined with a visit to the nearby popular seaside resort of Loutraki with it's grand casino, the impressive ancient theater of Epidaurus still in use today for theatrical plays and the picturesque Venetian city of Nafplion, the beautiful first capital of Greece and of course the Delphi site, with it's famous oracle. Another popular option is a one day trip with the high speed boats to the nearby picturesque island of Aeghina for just 50 euro p.p.
