Description of the Austin vacation home rental
Winner of the ABC Living Well Channel's 'Sweet Retreats' Austin edition (watch the video at the LoftHouseAustindotcom ;-) site) and also known as the "Bali-inspired Artist's Retreat". (Also, ask about the Loft House's mid-week discount program and 2 day weekday minimums).

Welcome! Are you looking for a resort-like atmosphere for your annual girlfriend getaway? Searching for an inspirational setting for your company retreat or offsite meeting? Hunting for a home with a convivial vibe for your family reunion? If so, your search for a secluded yet accessible Austin home-base is over. Situated on two acres of private green-space on a non-through street, this private oasis offers easy access to ACL, SXSW, F1 (Formula One) and downtown Austin.

Hi, I'm Sharon. In 2008, I flew to Bali and filled a container with art, architectural pieces, furniture, marble and building materials. When I returned to Austin I built my dream home in the Sunset Valley neighborhood, a tiny township within the city of Austin. 'Austin's best kept secret' has large lots, many old and beautiful trees, horses and abundant wildlife yet its only 14 minutes from downtown. In 2010 the Loft House was awarded five stars (the highest honor) by the Austin Green Building Program and was featured in the Cool House Architectural Tour.

The two story, naturally lighted artist's loft, has a flexible floor plan to accommodate a wide range of groups, from families on holiday to small wedding parties to corporate clients. Because I make my living designing and building things, my home is filled with textiles, art, art materials and works in progress. When you arrive you'll notice my obsessive compulsive attention to detail throughout, custom carved teak doors, polished concrete and pebble mosaic floors, natural clay wall finishes, custom light switches, etc. I've been told there's something about the space that fuels the imagination and inspires a sense of play, making it perfect for corporate brainstorming sessions and artist/writer retreats.

The very private outdoor living space offers numerous ways to enjoy the warm Austin weather; eat breakfast in the large screened porch, sip mojitos on the deck or paddle around the lap pool as deer, foxes, mexican eagles and hummingbirds frolic nearby.

Sometimes places look better in photos; this home is the opposite. Even the beautiful photos could not do it justice! It is simply stunning inside--so comfortable, so well-thought out, so relaxing. It was the perfect retreat. And it was beyond stocked--everything from fresh bakery muffins to a draw of random and delicious drinks. Sharon thought of every.single.detail. The Loft House is a one-of-a-kind place that turned our getaway into an incredible retreat. Its open floor plan, amazing artwork and warm, modern design all contribute to a feelings of relaxed, creative inspiration. And the pool, outdoor shower and beautiful grounds make it easy to enjoy nature. Sharon thought of everything in designing the home and brings that same attention to detail in her role as a host. From the time we booked the trip through the weekend we stayed, she was communicative, accommodating and made sure we had a wonderful time. ~Lauren E.

The Loft House was everything we expected and more.
5 of 5 stars

The house is beautiful and full of Sharon's amazing treasures. A high-end retreat conveniently located in south Austin with plenty of activities nearby for those seeking adventure and also a perfect house for those looking for a little seclusion. (Even though you are in the suburbs, you can't see a single neighbor and one morning we even saw a heard of deer right outside the windows!) We spent a lot of time on the screened-in porch. It also has a nice outdoor dining table that is perfect for large groups. Also, the house is very well stocked, so don't worry about packing a large bag! The house comes stocked with everything you need to cook a grand meal, shampoo, conditioner, towels, hair dryers, and much more. It really felt like home! Sharon was also very helpful in finding some neat things to do in Austin, including hiring a private chef, Mike, with Nola Kitchens. He cooked us a wonderful meal as we sat around the island, drank wine, and watched him cook ~Katie R.

Best backdrop for a company retreat
5 of 5 stars

My company was looking to have a retreat in or around Austin and came across the WunderBunker rental. This place had the perfect set up. Not only was the decor stunning inside and out, but we had several spaces around the house to hold meetings which was really nice and I think helped everyone relax and enjoy us all actually being on a work retreat. Flora, the chef, was AMAZING and a hoot. It was such a treat to have her cook for us while we were there...we felt so pampered. I have to say, I was first hesitant to book a local rental for the company retreat but once we got here we felt so far away from really was the best option and such a lovely experience all around. Everyone had such a great, relaxing time I only hope we can stay longer next time around! Thank you Sharon, you have a lovely home and we all had such a marvelous time!! I look forward to future stays! ~Anonymous

I am a resident of Austin but enjoyed her property so much, I hope to go back and stay there again myself. Thank you for everything Sharon. Spectacular Resort Like Property

We held our Christmas Family Reunion at Sharon's wonderful resort like property and found it to be everything advertised and MORE. Not only is this home visually stunning and architecturally's fully equipped with everything one might need. Host a party or just "get away from it all"....this property does it all and won't disappoint.

What was equally impressive was the owner's attention to detail and business acumen. The house was in perfect shape when we arrived....and we got back our security deposit the same day we departed!

I can highly recommend both the WonderBunker and Sharon Drinkwine! ~Norman S.

This house is perfect for entertaining! We hosted our small wedding reception here and had a private chef come and prepare a special dinner for our guest. Everyone LOVED the house and it created such a wonderful ambiance for our party. The screened in porch overflowing from the kitchen was probably my favorite room, but each room definitely had something special to offer. It felt like we had been transported to an exotic location!

Sharon was so great to work with. Very responsive to any questions we had during the planning process and the house had just about everything we needed!

The Loft House is so gorgeous and it has an amazing amount of amenities. I came for 3 nights with 11 girls for a bachelorette weekend and it was perfect for our needs. We lounged by the pool, hung out in the open air living space and we even built a fire in the fire pit and relaxed there at night. We cooked in the amazing kitchen and partied to the awesome stereo system that floats through the entire house and out onto the screened in porch. I would recommend this house to any group coming to Austin. Sharon is a dream to deal with and we are lucky she shared this wonderful space with us. I hope to come back again soon! ~Ashley V.

Amazing house for a group!!
5 of 5 stars

10 of us girls went to Austin for a bachelorette party and staying at Sharon's house was an amazing experience. There was plenty of room and bathrooms for all eleven of us to hang out comfortably and get ready whenever we needed to. The house is absolutely gorgeous with lots of fun details. Sharon was so wonderful and attentive to everything we needed both before and during our stay. The openness of the house allowed us to hold conversations wherever we were which was very nice. The screened in porch was a fun place to relax and visit with each other especially while listening to the rain. We even had a private chef from culinary misfits cook us dinner one night and the space was perfect--we were able to watch him cook in the kitchen while we hung out in the living room. The location was great--fairly close to downtown and there is an heb and other shopping nearby just in case we forgot anything. Overall I would certainly recommend this house for anyone visiting Austin!! ~Brianne R.

What a fabulous vacation!!
5 of 5

We just celebrated my daughter's bachelorette weekend in Austin and, no doubt, selected THE best vacation rental in town. It is in a quiet, secluded neighborhood, but is a quick 15 minutes from downtown. Nearby Central Market was AMAZING!!

Sharon was the perfect hostess; it was more like she was expecting family than renters. She was so easy to work with during the entire booking process, the house was as good if not better than described, and her recommendations were wonderful and greatly appreciated...especially Eric at Culinary Misfits, the personal chef we had hired for a surprise dinner (sorry Austin, but he's moving to join us in Denver!).

We can't wait to return someday. Thank you, Sharon, for helping to make my daughter's bachelorette weekend so memorable! ~Tammy G.

Exceptional property and very thoughtful host
5 of 5

This is a truly extraordinary property! To begin with, it's BEAUTIFUL. We had seen pictures, of course, but nonetheless it was beyond expectations. There's art everywhere, and we kept seeing interesting things we hadn't noticed initially. Sharon, the host, met us and walked us through everything we needed to know. To supplement that, she has labelled everything so that you can find what you need (i.e., esp. in the kitchen). The pool was lots of fun to use, and some of us thought the outdoor shower was/is a real treat. The beds are really, really comfortable -- and we travelers really appreciated that! I can't think of anything that could or should have been better. We would go back to this property with eager enthusiasm. ~Daniel S.

Sacred retreat: Home to art and beauty
5 of 5 stars

Sharon is the most incredible property owner. She amazed us with her ability to work with us on what we needed, and go above and beyond to provide gorgeous details that made our stay special. She has cultivated an amazing home full of art, beautiful objects, warm welcoming lighting, expert details like power outlets everywhere you could possibly need them and soothing under-cabinet lights in the bathrooms. The house is filled with captivating textiles, furniture and sculptures. Big windows look out onto the restful pool and live oaks. She has created an artful space that we are all incredibly lucky to be able to rent access to.

We can't recommend this home highly enough. It is special, sacred, and filled with good energy and light.

Sharon herself is kind, extremely organized and a true artist in her ability to create and improve everything around her. She has implemented systems all over her house that make it so easy to figure out lights and door locks and sound systems. An excellent homeowner! ~Callen T.

We highly recommend this beautiful property. Treat it with the reverence it deserves!

Sophisticated and Beautiful Atmosphere
5 of 5 stars

We chose the Loft House this past December Holiday Season, for our Business Party because of it's sophistication and style. The Loft House is a gem and it suited us perfectly.

The color schemes and lighting create a calming yet uplifting ambience.

The decor of Balinese artifacts mixed with an eclectic Art Collection accentuates it's uniqueness.

Ms. Drinkwine graciously offered to work with our budget and gave us a very reasonable weekday rate. I believe every amenity imaginable is available and if not, the Hostess found a way to accommodate our special requests.

Don't miss an opportunity to experience this haven and enliven your senses while retreating into it's otherworldly-ness.

If you want to impress your guests, the Loft House is sure to WOW them.

We'll be back! ~Christine L.

Extraordinary Retreat at the LoftHouse
5 of 5 stars

The LoftHouse was simply amazing. From the soothing decor to the incredible customer service, my colleagues and I could not have asked for a better location for our annual gathering.

After days filled with meetings, we found the comfort of the LoftHouse to be exactly what we needed. The beds were beautiful and very, very comfortable. Wine around the candle garden in the screened porch made the ends of the day peaceful.

On our "free" days, we were able to get to South Congress and Downtown quickly. A visit to Guadalupe, parallel to UT, was just as easy to reach. Highly recommend the food trucks!

I look forward to bringing my colleagues to the LoftHouse every year for our annual retreat. Clean, comfortable, calm and serene, it was the perfect venue for our annual corporate retreat. We all left feeling relaxed and happy. I highly recommend this location as a place for friends, colleagues or families looking for a beautiful place to gather. ~Leslie D.

My best rental experience
5 of 5 stars

From our first point of contact, Sharon helped me walk through everything I would need to make my rental experience as smooth and enriching as possible.

Sharon assured me of the property's availability & clearly outlined what I could expect as well as the amenities of her home. Sharon also gave me a contact available 24/7 during my stay if needed.

And her home!! I've never been in such a place. Every square foot of it is gorgeous & unique. And yet it was familiar enough where I felt like I could take full advantage of it - that I could get comfortable & relax.

I rented The Loft House for a corporate retreat and most highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a private getaway. This spot is 4 miles south of downtown and offers an environment ideal for escaping the day-to-day. With accommodations for over 10 people and a beautiful + tranquil backyard, I'm sure we'll be returning soon!! ~Adam M.

It was the perfect place to have our weekend, close enough to the city to taxi and far enough away to feel like we were secluded. Sharon was very responsive and helped us plan activities for the weekend. The next time I am in Austin I will definitely be staying at the Loft House. Thanks again Sharon for everything! ~Eric U.

I must say The Loft House was probably my favorite place I've been in a very long time. This place was so beautiful and unique, definitely made our labor day weekend a weekend we'll never forget! The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The location was perfect, only 10 minutes away from downtown and Barton Springs. I would highly recommend this place to all my friends and family, and we will definitely be back!

Thanks Sharon for everything, you were awesome and so kind! ~Betsy B.

It was a great first for me in Austin, this magical house was furnished by an artist and you can totally tell after one minute you walked in. Many details make this loft unique and warm, from the Indonesian looking back yard to the pictures in the bathroom, someone really thought about each single corner.

There is plenty of room and the owner was very sweet as well, we found fresh muffins she left for us the day we arrived.

The property felt really new and clean, I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for something different from a classic villa. ~Angel N.

This house is awesome! Easily the coolest place my group of friends will ever stay! The homeowner is awesome! Sharon is the most welcoming host and her advice and attention to detail during our stay did not go unnoticed. This home is affordable and close to the city, but secluded enough you feel like you're out in the hills. I live in Austin and don't often rent vacation homes here but, if I did, I would consistently choose this one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What MUST I spend at least one day doing during my stay at the Loft House?
A: The best thing to do is RELAX. Lounge by the pool, eat lunch on the screened porch, practice yoga overlooking the deer in the backyard and play the house guitar while gathered around the fire pit in the evening. Or better yet, hire a personal chef to cater to your culinary whims and hire our on-site massage therapists to work their magic.
Q: How quickly can we get to downtown Austin from your home?
A: We're only 14 minutes to downtown and even closer to the South Congress shopping and South First restaurant districts. If you don't have a car it will cost $15 - $20 by cab and even less with Lyft or Uber.
Q: Why are bachelorette weekends your specialty?
A: First of all the house is bright, clean and has an open floor plan, which is great for entertaining larger groups of friends or family. During warm weather the bank of windows along the kitchen wall slide back, opening the whole house up to the large screened porch, creating one big festive space. There are also lots of additional services that are available, including a traveling AirStream beauty parlor, gourmet breakfast delivery, on-site massage or yoga lessons and personal chef services. (Please note, my maximum is 12 overnight guests and 20 daytime guests. I do not allow large special events or parties and ask that you be respectful of the neighborhood in terms of noise and disruption).
