“A week at the cabin”
We stayed at Heathcove for a week and really enjoyed our visit to the Bar Harbor area. The cabin is about 5 minutes outside of town and an easy drive into town. The cabin itself is right on the ocean and has a good view of Sand Cove area. It overlooks the water and there are steps that go down to the waterfront. You can walk around on the rocky beach area during low tide. There are some thin pine trees in front of the cabin that filter the view a bit but they also add the the atmosphere on the deck. The deck itself is newer and very well done and there is a charcoal grill on the deck that we used a couple of times. The inside of the cabin is all wooden and rustic and nicely decorated. There is a flat screen tv and cable and internet access. The kitchen is rather small and is vintage with no dishwasher. It is kind of a one person kitchen but I will say that it the most equipped of any rental property that I have been in. Pots, pans, measuring cups, utensils, bowls, dishes were all there. We even found a popover tin, a garlic press, and a mixer. I like to cook so all the extras were nice. There were even a bunch of spices on hand. The stove was smaller but very usable. The house itself was very clean and well kept. The bedrooms were fairly small but no really an issue as they are only used to go to bed.
“Beautiful and close to everything!”
We stayed at Heathcove in July and fell in love with Maine. The cottage was spacious enough for my family of 5 to relax and spread out. The decor was very quaint and homey. We loved all the puzzles. The view/location was perfect...sunrises, fog on the water, lobster boats headed out to check/drop traps, porpoises playing (my sons were close enough to one to hear it breathing!), seals, sea stars we were able to hold, and a bag full of sea glass, sea pottery and heart shaped rocks to take home. Exploring the shoreline was so much fun! The cottage isn't too far from Acadia or Bar Harbor yet it is removed enough to be private and quiet. This cottage is what it promises to be in the description and so much more. We are so grateful for the owners opening their house and sharing it with us. This trip was well worth the 18+ hour, 950 mile one way drive we made!
