Description of the Bass Lake vacation cabin rental
Summer Experience: Stay in two, lovingly restored cabins on nine acres that back to open forest. Feel like you have the entire Sierra Nevada to yourself! Sleep in supportive beds and wake to sounds of birds singing in a bubbling fountain. View distant granite peaks and watch deer as you sip your morning coffee from a wrap-around deck. Spend your days exploring Yosemite and Bass Lake. Hike up granite domes, feel the mist of waterfalls, ride an old logging train, row a boat, take a swim, or feed ducks. Grill and dine on a wrap-around deck with seating for eight. Watch the sun set and moon rise over the Sierras while listening to owl calls. Play table games, share a Pixar movie, or read children's literature. Make life-long, family memories here. Here, in my beloved childhood home.

Setting: This place has the 'WOW' factor and is a destination in itself. The total privacy, expansive views, and forest setting are unsurpassed. Two beautifully maintained houses sit on nine acres of spectacular, pine-covered land that is surrounded by U.S. Forestry land. There are NO neighbors (except for wild turkeys, deer, squirrel, raccoon, blue jays, hummingbirds, and butterflies, etc.). Yet, this amazing, secluded property is five minutes from the Bass Lake Boat Launch; seven minutes from Miller's Landing Resort; and 40 minutes from the entrance to Yosemite National Park and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.

Houses: Two houses total 2,600 square feet and comfortably fit 8 people. Cabin is 1,800 square feet with two bedrooms, a loft bedroom, and one bathroom. Cottage is 800 square feet with one bedroom, one bathroom, a kitchenette, and a sitting room. Ideal for large families as grandparents can stay in the cottage. There are three decks (with comfortable outdoor furnishings) for relaxing, entertaining, barbecuing, and stargazing.

Unique Features: The houses really have their own personality. The wood walls and old brick fireplace are so warm and inviting. The slight ripples in the hand-poured glass of the massive windows in the living room harken back to simpler times. Sitting on the wrap-around deck is a perfect way to start or end your day. I love to watch birds singing and bathing in the fountain; to look at the Peckinpah Mountain range at sunset; and to see the Milky Way framed by towering Ponderosa Pines at night. The property is so quiet and peaceful --allowing you to really relax and sleep soundly at night.

Background: This is my beloved, childhood home. It is not treated like an investment property or a rental. The home has been in my family for the past 50 years. The property has only been sold once. The original owner worked at the North Fork Mill and hand-built these two homes in the 1940s. He lived in the cottage while building the cabin. My parents spent many years upgrading the houses and landscaping the property. I miss them and wish they could see how much their grandchildren enjoy this place. I love the home and this area. It has been an incredible blessing to take my children to the same places where I played, hiked, and swam as a child! Sharing this special place with you and your loved ones allows me to maintain and improve it. I sincerely hope you will enjoy your stay and treasure the memories you create here. My six-year-old twins are always excited to arrive and sorry to leave the 'mountain home.'

Interaction with Guests: I sincerely wish I could meet you and thank you for choosing my childhood home for your trip. However, I am not on the property during guest stays. My Mom's best friends, DeAnne and Frank, host the property and maintain the beautiful, landscaped grounds. They live nearby and also host their own adorable cabin. DeAnne and Frank visit the property during every stay to ensure guests' comfort and that the rental agreement is being honored.

Amenities in Cabin: There are three bedrooms: (1) master with king-size bed, sitting area, and extensive library; (2) guest with queen-size bed; and (3) loft with full-size bed and a large, oak desk. Loft is accessed through the master. Both bedrooms are very large and you cannot see from the loft into the master. Cabin has one bathroom with jetted tub. There is a fireplace; central heat; air-conditioning in a new, wall unit in kitchen; ceiling fans in kitchen, master bedroom, and loft. There is high-speed, wireless Internet, TV, Blu-Ray DVD player, and an Apple TV with access to Netflix, HBO GO, Hulu, and family movies. No cable TV. Deck has large, Weber grill with propane. Kitchen has microwave, stove/oven, dishwasher, refrigerator with ice maker, coffee maker, waffle iron, mixer, blender, and Cuisinart, etc.

Amenities in Cottage: There is a king-size bed and one bathroom. Newly installed Fujitsu unit provides heating and air conditioning. Cottage also has a ceiling fan. There is no TV and the high-speed, wireless Internet (located inside the cabin) does not reach inside the cottage. Kitchenette has mini fridge, coffee maker, and toaster oven. Laundry room has full-size washer and dryer.

Supplies, Parking, and Safety: High-quality linens (e.g., pillows, sheets, blankets, bath towels, and beach towels) are provided. Houses have toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, bath soap, dishwashing soap, and laundry detergent. For children, there is a Baby Bjorn travel crib, Graco Pack N' Play, toys, books, games, and family movies. Property has covered carport and plenty of parking for RV/Trailer/Boat. For your safety, houses have fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, propane gas detector, and first-aid kit.

Pricing: quoted prices include both houses. The security deposit is fully refundable (within one week of your departure) provided the property and its contents are left in the same condition as found upon arrival. Cleaning fee reflects time needed to meticulously clean two houses and launder all linens; and my belief in a living wage. A lovely woman and her daughter clean the houses and earn the entire $210 fee. It takes them five hours to clean, which reflects an hourly wage rate of $21.

Rules: Absolutely NO pets, animals, or smoking as we have family members with allergies and asthma. Eight (8) people (i.e., adults and children) are the maximum allowed number of guests on the property. There are only two bathrooms and five beds (i.e., two king, one queen, one full, and one full-size, self-inflating bed).

Area Information
Sunset Magazine named Bass Lake as one of 'The West's Best Lakes.' It is a wonderful lake for swimming, boating, fishing, and water skiing. Yosemite has world-class waterfalls, granite domes, and hiking. The Sierra Scenic Byway is a beautiful and rugged wilderness area to explore, especially if you have a four-wheel drive vehicle.

A: It is 24 miles from the southern entrance to Yosemite. These are mountain roads, so it takes about 40 minutes to drive to the park entrance. Please be aware that driving from Bass Lake to Yosemite Valley will take 90 minutes because the speed limit is 25 miles per hour inside Yosemite.
Q: Do you provide sheets and towels?
A: Yes, there are pillows, sheets, blankets, bath towels, and beach towels.

A: Yes, there is a large Weber grill on the deck of the main house. It is stocked with propane.
