Awesome vacation home

April 14, 2015

We always feel like home when we stay at Fred's house! 2 minute drive to the beach, about a half hour to gulf port, quiet neighborhood. Plenty of room for the kids to play inside and out. Only downside is if you're planning on cooking, Fred needs new pots and pans! Everything will stick to them but we made due with a lot of extra pam! Everyone we come we always stay at Fred's.

Great visit!!

March 19, 2013

We enjoyed our visit to Waveland/Bay St Louis. The house location was great. Just a short walk to the beach. The yard is huge and we enjoyed how quiet the house was in the mornings! Fred the owner was very helpful and the house was very clean and ready when we walked in. We had a great week. Thank you for sharing your house!

Owner's reply:

thank you mary and gang fb

Great location; felt like home but near the beach

August 7, 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our "stay in the bay" and found this vacation home to be very reasonably priced with all of the comforts of home. Great location. Very kind owner who is easy to work with. Our small dog even came along with no complications. Our young son enjoyed discovering all of the secret hiding places this 1800's home has in it.

Great Deal - Ok Location

June 28, 2012

The house and area were great; but the fishing was lousy. Good location for beach walkers or casino goers. we had a really good time though and had no complaints other than no fish. ( lol ) would Highly recommend Renting from this lady as she went the extra mile to accommodate us.

Home away from home

May 28, 2012

My kids and I enjoyed our time in the home. We did not take our dog but the yard is great if we had. I will definitely go back when the need arises!

Just what I needed

March 9, 2012

The house was lovely. My dogs really enjoyed the huge yard and we often spent time on the deck. This is in a well-established neighborhood, but very close to the beach and to restaurants, shopping, etc. It was nice and quiet, which was exactly what I was looking for.

Perfect getaway

August 8, 2011

We really enjoyed our time at this little cottage. Very relaxing, and close to the beach. We brought our dog, who had a great time running the back yard and on the beach. Hope to return to MS Gulf Coast this fall.

beach vacation

July 20, 2011

I was a little worried at first not knowing what to expect renting someones home for the weekend, but I was suprised, we felt right at home. It was about 1/2 mile from the beach we were able to come back to the house to eat lunch and whatever we needed to do because it was so close. We also brought our dog with us, the yard was dog freindly just like the add said. There was no internet service which was fine with me it alowed us to have alot more family time. We were in a quiet area no one bothered us. We really enjoyed our stay. I would recommend this house to anyone. I plan on going back in a few months.

Wonderful Stay

June 22, 2011

I recently stayed at this house with two friends for a 40th birthday, mom's only get-away. It was last minute planning and Fred was very easy to work with. The stay was comfortable, keeping in mind that this is HIS RESIDENCE and that it does not have a 'vacation rental' feel to it but rather a 'camping out in someone else's home' feel to it. But once we got over this, we had a good time. Didn't do much but go to the beach, walk around Bay St. Louis and eat. The beach is a little more than comfortable walking distance if you have kids and/or stuff, otherwise a nice stroll and a short drive with free and easy parking as this area is still rebuilding from Katrina. Not a bad place considering cost and proximity to the beach. Freezer was full of stuff so difficult for us to use, didn't use w/d and although it had televisions in the bedrooms, only the TV in the living room seemed to have satellite (although I could be wrong, but we couldn't get any bedroom TV's to work causing us to fight for the couch, lol). Thank you Fred for helping us out at the last minute!

Great time in the Fulf

March 3, 2011

We weren't sure what we were getting into , renting a house smack dab where Katrina came ashore, but we were pleasantly surprised. The house was easy to find, and a perfect fit for our family. The boys immediately claimed the beds on the second floor, and our 3-year old staked out the front bedroom and said she wanted to stay forever. The house is over 100 years old, and is surrounded by trees and flowers, with a front porch that I wish we had on our own house. There is a fireplace for those nights that get chilly, and a big backyard with a fire-pit for sitting up late. The beach down the street goes on for miles, and New Orleans is only a 45 minute drive away. We had a great time, and we are already planning our next trip back.

Disappointed.Too much of owners personal belongings in house, cluttered! No cable/satellite and only one small working tv which was in the kitchen. 3rd bedroom was not usable, more like attic storage.Owner was nice and accomodating.Great back yard for pets. Master bath nice w/shower and tub, 2nd bath small w/only tub.

Great Little Getaway

June 3, 2010

A fabulous place to escape the hussle and bustle and relax! This charming home, with lots of character, was much larger than we expected with two bedrooms downstairs and another upstairs. The home is located a short distance from the beach as well as a grand new pier with superb fishing! Many attractions are just a quick drive away! We can't wait to go back!

Spring Break in Waveland!

May 5, 2010

I am afraid to give such great reviews for this lovely home as I fear the best kept secret on the Mississippi Gulf Coast will get out! But I must be honest and share what a grand week we experienced in Waveland! We biked to the beach, drove to New Orleans a couple of times, shopped in Bay St. Louis and enjoyed the restaurants in the area. We always felt safe, welcome and at home! There might be one clarification in that there were actually only 2 bedrooms in the home. Both our teenagers ended up sleeping on couches which was not a problem, but we also had our mother-in-law with us, and I expected 3 bedrooms. I hope to return to the area, and I hope I can stay at the same home--hopefully it will not be booked!

Not a vacation rental

April 21, 2010

The house was a lovely old cottage, and would have been a very nice place to stay if the owner didn't live there. He locked the door, left a key out and went away for the weekend. Our experience was like staying with weird uncle ernie. Nothing was cleaned or put away. I had to put his used tooth brush on a shelf and move his "garden" shoes from beside the bed. There was not a single place to put any hanging clothes,(5 women attending a wedding) or even a single shelf in the fridge to put our food. I had to spend additional money buying a coffee maker and new towels, because I couldn't tell if they were clean or dirty. I also spent 2hrs. cleaning the kitchen ,both bath rooms, all the cabinet fronts and the fridge! I know his intentions were probably good, but you can not call a house 3 bedroon, sleeps 8, if there is only 1 king bed and a tiny double. The other "room" was the attic and a blow up mattress, in the middle of all his extra storage. There weren't even screens on the windows. There also wasn't any air conditioning, so thank goodness it stayed in the 70's. It really needs to be listed as a sleeps 4 at most. We mananged to get by, but that was only because of the good grace of my very forgiving friends. He seemed like a nice man on the internet, and the outside is very nicely landscaped, but I felt the sleeping arrangements were very misrepresented. I need to be paid the $100 cleaning fee.

Great Little Getaway

January 5, 2010

We found the home well suited to our needs. Great older home with lots of character. High ceilings and all the amenities you would want. We especially enjoyed to wood burning fireplace in the kitchen, as the weather was quite cold. Only 40 minutes from New Orleans and a better deal than all the LA hotels!

Bay St. Louis Getaway

July 8, 2009

This house is in a great location to getaway for a few days. It is centrally located to the beach, restaurants, and wal-mart. Both porches, front and back are great places to sit and relax. There is also a swing on the side underneath lucious folage, great for drinking coffee in the morning. The house is old, but unique in many ways and has a sense of home that you won't get from staying in a hotel. There is also an outside shower for getting the sand off the kids from the beach. My only issue was that the owner had alot of his stuff out and the kids would touch things that I didn't want them to, but we were the first to stay and at short notice. The price was also very reasonable especially for 4th of July weekend. We had a blast!!!
