Description from owner
If you want privacy, this is the place for you. This retreat is located on a tiny peninsula of land. When my grandfather purchased over 250 acres of Lady’s Island back in the late 1940’s, he always considered this 4 acre tract the jewel in the crown. It was his retreat from town long before my parents built a home here. Pap would come and put his boat in down at the shell ramp.
He’d cast his net in Little Lucy for those scrumptious creek shrimp to put over his grits. He fished around the bend at one of the best fishin holes in Beaufort County. He always dreamed of living here. Its location on one of the highest bluffs overlooking deep water on Lady’s Island made it an ideal home site.
So in the 1970’s my mom designed this home and had Elias Pinkney build it. The brick home, which is shaded by live oaks draped in Spanish moss commands views of more than 400 feet of the shoreline of Little Lucy Creek and its salt marshes. Each bedroom has its own unique view of the water.
From the Master Bedroom you can see the sunrise or moonrise over the dock on Little Lucy Creek. But from your queen size bed you have another view that looks down the creek and toward the sunset.
From the guest bedroom you also have a view of the dock on the creek. From the third bedroom each twin bed has a view of the creek and salt marsh. Enjoy your morning coffee at the kitchen table or on the screen porch with its panoramic views of the entire sunrise/sunset experience.
There is also seating out on the bluff so you can watch for the dolphins that swim by on the high tides or watch the stingrays, egrets and herons that come in to feed on low tide. We also have visits to the oyster bank below the bluff from a family of raccoons. Deer swim the creek to hide and feed among the magnolias and oaks. A pair of pileated woodpeckers has taken up residency in our piney woods by the dock.
This is our home and so we have tried to think of everything that might make your stay with us more comfortable. We have recently remodeled the interior to reflect our own love of Mid-Century modern furnishings( Very MadMen Like). There are lovely wood floors throughout. There are ceiling fans in almost every room and central heat and AC when desired. The giant living room with its 20 foot vaulted ceiling and open dining area were made for entertaining. For those who would rather stay inside there is seating in front of a 55 inch LED wide screen T.V.This service is provided through Direct TV. Computer access is through WIFI . A second TV is located in the Master Bedroom.
There is also seating in front of the wood burning stone fireplace. There is a large desk for visiting writers, computer users or grand kids working on jigsaw puzzles. The pillow top beds have soft sheets, comfy pillows and beautiful coverlets.
The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances, cookware, china glassware and utensils. There are two and a half bathrooms for everyone’s comfort and privacy. There is also generous closet space throughout the house so that you can store all your gear and belongings during your visit.
The porch is equipped with seating for all and an outdoor patio has a gas grill. The new dock is equipped with a float and kayak launch. Or you can put your boat, kayak or canoe in down at the shell ramp right on the property. There is also a boat landing two miles away at Sam’s Point where Forest Gump was filmed.
Children over the age of 9 are welcome. Pets are welcome with permission of the owner and for an additional fee.

Owner Supplied Testimonials
This home has loads of space, the grounds are expansive and beautiful, and the dock and overlook are perfect for soaking in the low country at it's best. Pure comfort, quiet, and yet within minutes of everything the area has to offer!!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed Little Lucy Creek Retreat. We (including kids ages 5-21) fished off the dock every morning and every evening. We caught sharks, blue crabs, sting rays and several fish. The kids enjoyed nights on the dock or the screened back porch. The property had everything we needed to make our vacation a great one. The views of the marsh and creek are amazing. I grilled for the family every day, using the Weber grill on the back patio. We took advantage of the Hunting Island State Park - Free Access Pass and spent a couple days on their North and South beaches. The walking path to the dock and the Spanish Moss just added to our experience. We would recommend this place to our friends and family and hope to stay there again.
This property is the perfect place to stay in Beaufort. It's close enough to all the important points of interest, while offering privacy and comfort in your down time. The dock is amazing and we enjoyed sitting out and watching the birds. The beds are comfortable and provide a great nights sleep. We ate out with family during most of our stay and didn't have the opportunity to use kitchen, but from what I could tell it would have most anything you needed. Ann, the owner, was very attentive and answered all of our questions quickly. We hope to stay here again, if we return to Beaufort. Thanks for opening your home to us.
This vacation rental met all expectations and then some. Everything from the initial rental and contact with the charming and gracious Annie to the home and property was fabulous. From the moment we drove on to the property, we fell in love with its charm. The home with its wonderful mid century decor was so inviting we found ourselves eating in more than expected and simply relaxing at the property. Each morning, after waking up to lovely views of the tidal creek and live oaks dripping with Spanish moss, you could find us enjoying coffee on the private dock and most evenings we returned there with a bottle of wine eagerly awaiting the dolphins that swam by. The tidal creek and pluff mud was a new experience and we could barely stay away. We all regained a sense of inner peace at that dock watching the tides come and go that we had long forgotten with our busy and stressful lives. We plan to return and maybe we will tear ourselves away from the property long enough to explore even more of lovely and historic Beaufort. On a final note, the owners provided wonderful recommendations for restaurants and things to do that were highly appreciated and added to this great experience.
We had a wonderful stay at the retreat. We saw a Buck out the small kitchen window one morning and a Doe swimming across the creek another. The dogs loved chasing and playing with the squirrels in the wonderful pet friendly yard. The Dock was so nice when we'd go fishing in the creek and to clean our catch when returning. Loved the recommended Dockside Restaurant. We ate there 3 nights and was a wonderful experience each time. Highly recommend! Sight-seeing through the Historical District and Fort Fremont was a nice experience, too. Hope to stay at the retreat again. If I had any request, it might be to have a few more serving /casserole bowls for the kitchen. Only had two, one too big for us so that only left the one corning covered bowl. Would be nice to have a tea pitcher but none of this is a complaint by any means. I've never seen a better stocked kitchen for a beach house and everything was in great shape. I have always taken my favorite breakfast skillet and can opener to a rental and they weren't needed at this kitchen. The toaster and mixer was a pleasant surprise, also. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely, comfortable home with us for two weeks.
