Here is what our first rental guests had to say about the Robey Lodge at Beech:

The Robey Beech Mountain home is spectacular! I knew it would be nice based on the pictures and descriptions, however, the place is breathtaking in person. When we arrived the home was spotless and in pristine condition. Our group consisted of 11 adults and there was plenty of room for everyone to lounge and watch tv, play video and board games, eat, and sleep. We loved the large tvs, huge open rooms, wet bars, and gas fireplaces (we even played a little joke on some late arrivers--told them they were voice activated and hid the remote up my sleeve, quite humorous). The kitchen and dining areas were perfect for our group. A few of the men got in the kitchen every morning and whipped up a lovely breakfast, which was almost even better than the kitchen itself (having the men in the kitchen, not the breakfast, haha). Two ski resorts, Sugar and Beech, are conveniently close and we had a great time skiing at both. Our last day we got a beautiful blanket of snow which made the mountain and surrounding trees even more stunning. Many thanks Dan for opening this little piece of heaven up for everyone! We have made some lasting memories.

The BEST cabin. We loved our time there. A perfect home-away-from-home.

It is an honor to be the first guests not only to comment on this beautiful cabin but to stay in this beautiful cabin. From the moment we walked in the door, we knew we made the right decision. From the huge Plasma TV's (everywhere!)to the very large Jacuzzi tub in the Master bathroom to the breathtaking views it was all more than we could ask for. We could go on and on about the wonderful accommodations but we wanted to make a few comments about the owner as that is equally important as this cabin. From our first conversation to our last, Dan was kind, sincere and truly concerned about every aspect of our stay. He provided every accommodation that you could think of and we were not just "renters" to him but we felt like friends of the family staying at his home away from home. Suffice to say, our vacation and Christmas dreams came true. From skiing (on the bunny slopes:)to the children snow tubing (my 6 year old was the last one off the mountain Christmas eve:), We will always remember Christmas 2007. Thank you for this amazing cabin and wonderful experience. God Bless from our family to yours, Tom, Annette, Tommy and Lexi ....the Toy family

Area Information
At 5,506 feet, Beech Mountain isn't just Eastern America's Highest town...

Every summer, our lakes, streams, hillsides, and mountaintops welcome avid fishermen, hikers, mountain bikers, golfers, and wildlife explorers. Perhaps they're attracted to our mild summer temperatures-which rarely exceed 72 degrees, even on the hottest day of the year.

In the fall, hillsides are draped in bright hues of orange, yellow, and red-a scene so admired that it attracts nature lovers from across the country.

And as winter's first snowflakes mark the birth of our most beloved season, our slopes welcome skiers and snowboarders from all over the Southeast.

It's a graceful town, seated atop a storybook mountain.

It's Eastern America's Highest Town.

Beech Mountain has been called "The Snow Capital of the Southeast," and for good reason-the average yearly snowfall often exceeds 100 inches.

Is there anything better than seeing a smile on your child's face? On Beech Mountain, every family-friendly cultural and recreational activity offers the chance to see exactly that-and to do it in a unique, mile-high atmosphere.

In every season, Beech offers a host of activities for all ages and interests:

Throughout the year, visitors can hike and bike along pristine nature trails, admiring the views of four different states from any number of picturesque vistas. These breathtaking views give nature lovers a glimpse of the great outdoors at its most beautiful. Similarly, our well-stocked lakes present the chance to haul in trophy catches throughout the fishing season, and fly fishing is especially popular.

Another favorite pastime among out-of-towners is enjoying the western North Carolina whitewater. Take a breathtaking raft excursion down Class 3 rapids, or just soak up the scenery on a leisurely float in a canoe. Several local outfitters offer canoeing, tubing, kayaking, rock climbing, and guided fly-fishing adventure packages.

Over at the Buckeye Recreation Center, pickup basketball, tennis, and volleyball games are commonplace throughout the year, every day of the week. It's the perfect opportunity to get that much-needed cardio exercise, or just amp up that inter-family competitiveness.

If golf is your game, you won't find a more beautiful place to play 18 holes than the Beech Mountain Club. It has all the exclusive amenities of a world-class private resort, yet is accessible to visitors with most on-mountain accommodations rentals.

Beech offers a wide array of seasonal events for the young and young at heart. From crafts shows to street dances, hog roasts to the world's only Mile-High Kite Flying Festival, community-wide events display Beech Mountain's true sense of inclusiveness.

Area Attractions

Grandfather Mountain

As the highest peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and one of the great destinations in the South, Grandfather Mountain stands head and shoulders above the surrounding region. It's been called "North Carolina's Top Scenic Attraction," and for good reason. Climb to the top for 360-degree views of nearby ridges and valleys, clamber across the world-famous Mile-High Swinging Bridge, or simply marvel at the native wildlife habitat. Best of all, it's only a 20-minute drive from Beech Mountain.

Blue Ridge Parkway

It's been referred to as America's Favorite Drive, and for good reason-the Blue Ridge Parkway winds through 439 miles of mountain meadows and seemingly endless vistas. There's no better way to see the heart of the North Carolina high country, complete with overlooks, picnic spots, and hiking trails.

While viewing the breathtaking mountain scenery, you'll also see split-rail fences, old farmsteads, and historic structures. One of the most famous tourist attractions in western North Carolina, the Parkway is only 20 minutes from Beech Mountain at Milepost 305.

Linville Caverns

The only caverns open to the public in North Carolina, this popular family-owned attraction is open daily from March through November 30, and weekends only from December through February.

Linville Gorge

The deepest chasm east of the Grand Canyon, Linville Gorge is accessible from the Blue Ridge Parkway from Milepost 16, or from Wiseman's View in the Pisgah National Forest from Linville Falls. This rugged wilderness area has great hiking, river recreation, and wildlife.

Mystery Hill

Playing havoc with Newton's theory! See water flow uphill, lose your shadow, and lean at a 45-degree angle! It's a fascinating exploration of science, optical illusions, and natural phenomena. Open daily, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., with longer hours during the summer months.
