Description of the Bequia vacation villa rental
Tropical Hideaway is a luxurious and very private property, consisting of five boutique style accommodations surrounded by vibrant and mature tropical gardens. Set in over 4 acres of pristine natural forest all accommodations offer private facilities to the highest of standards including beautiful verandas with views that will literally take your breath away. Bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and luxuriously appointed and well laid out kitchens allow you the convenience of preparing your own meals and to dine Al Fresco style on your own private terrace.

Located in an elevated hillside position high above the famous Princess Margaret Beach and with an incredible panoramic vista overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Admiralty Bay and the surrounding forested hillsides, the views are absolutely stunning and will not disappoint.

Specializing in couples and small groups, Tropical Hideaway can accommodate from 2 to 12 guests in what many say are the finest accommodations on Bequia with the finest views on Bequia. All are available to rent either individually or as a collective group and our prices are always highly competitive.

We offer an informal, private and relaxed atmosphere and we pride ourselves with our genuine friendly service and the experience we afford our guests. With over two hundred five star reviews on various well known sites these verified reviews offer an insight into the attention to detail and location this "Tropical Hideaway" has and reflect our genuine intention that guests arrive as guests and leave as friends.

Tropical Hideaway has an 18m (58') wide panoramic Infinity pool and is often quoted as being one of the top ten pools in the Caribbean. The Infinity Pool is a stunning feature of the property and with the environmentally friendly solar heating, the pool can be enjoyed at all times of the year. Typically our daytime pool temperatures are around 33 deg C in summer and 29 deg C in Winter. That’s an amazing 94 deg F falling to a very inviting 84 deg F in winter. The extra 3 degrees C created by our solar heating can make an enormous difference to your enjoyment of the pool. There is a swim up sunken pool bar, complete with fridge, ice-maker and sink, a preparation and serving area and a generous supply of acrylic beverage glasses. Underwater coral seats are conveniently positioned around the submerged bar and this is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of your own personal wine or indulge in your favourite drink or snack. Adjoining the pool is a Gazebo complete with a large daybed and the views from here are just incredible. A perfect place to relax and read a book or simply enjoy the spectacular scenery. The pool deck is tiled using natural stone coral and provides a safe, non slip and cool surface to walk on. Sun loungers, parasols, sunbathing mats and various chairs provide ample seating and relaxation areas around the pool. The pool and pool deck are west facing and receive the sun for most of the day. A cooling Caribbean breeze is usually present and the Gazebo and large parasols provide areas of shade for the hottest part of the day.

As the evening sun slowly sets and you look out over the Caribbean Sea, you cannot fail to be impressed. Sunsets from here can be amazing with the elusive 'Green Flash' often being seen. The setting is simply perfect and with underwater pool lights and discreet Led lighting enhancing the evening ambiance, the special moment can continue long after the sun has set.

Tropical Hideaway has a large barbecue area and our licensed on-site shop allows guests to purchase an excellent selection of fish and meats just perfect for the barbecue. We also offer a wide range of quality wines, beers and spirits and for your convenience all these and much more are now available on site and all at local supermarket prices.
Please note the very large Infinity Pool together with the Gazebo, pool patio and barbecue area are shared by any guests who are in residence at the time.

All our accommodations have the latest 40' flat screen internet TV's that give access to our in-house entertainment system supplying high definition films, TV, music and internet radio. High speed internet and Wi-Fi is supplied in all areas. Professional quality ceiling fans are positioned over all the beds and for those really hot days when the cooling Caribbean breeze has taken a rest, you can turn on the bedroom air conditioner until the breeze returns. All indoor living areas and bedrooms are fully screened allowing you the convenience of a mosquito free environment with the ambiance of outdoor living and stunning views of the Caribbean Sea.

Princess Margaret Beach is the nicest beach on the Island. Pristine and uncrowded and a short 20 - 25 minute walk down the road. A few parts of the road are steep. Most people walk down to town, the restaurants or the beach and catch a taxi back. Taxis are cheap and plentiful.

Area Information
Beautiful Bequia (pronounced bek way) is an undiscovered paradise, the Caribbean of 20 years ago. Covering an area of only 7 square miles, Bequia lies in the warm tropical waters of the Caribbean Sea. It is just a short plane hop from the ever popular Barbados and next to the renowned Mustique, both favourite islands of the rich and famous. It is the largest of the Grenadine Islands known also as the Jewels of the Caribbean and is blessed with several pristine, white sandy beaches many of which are totally natural and undeveloped.
If you want resort hotels, nightclubs and beaches full of sunbeds, don't come to Bequia. If you want to discover the undiscovered, visit our beautiful island, enjoy the uncrowded pristine white sandy beaches, swim and snorkel in our safe and warm Caribbean waters and experience the genuine friendliness of the local Bequian people.
Bequia is an all year round destination with daytime temperatures consistently averaging between 24C (75F) and 30C (86F) throughout the year. A "chilly" evening in the winter months (January to March) might see a low of around 22C (72F) and in the summer months the temperature will occasionally reach 32C (90F). Trade winds bring cooling breezes for most of the year and the famous Christmas Winds bring stronger breezes and livelier seas, perfect for the keen sailor.
The "dry" season from December to May coincides with the "high" season for visitors, with clear sunny skies, low humidity and minimal rainfall. The Island is totally reliant on rain for its water, so the arrival of the "rainy" season in May/June is always a blessing. The warmer, summer months of May to November are a welcome mixture of occasional showers, sunshine and light breezes, with the isolated heavy downpour.  Showers are usually short and mainly come in the night.
Bequia is far south in the hurricane belt, and although tropical storms will occasionally approach in the peak months of August to October, most disturbances either pass to the north or dissipate before they reach the Grenadines Island chain.
Please note the so called "rainy season" is not a particularly reliable statement any more as the seasons have become very mixed and variable. The weather forecast for our part of the Caribbean typically states, "Sunshine with a mix of cloud and occasional showers". It does reflect the changing climate and weather patterns and seems to be accurate for most of the year. At least the forecaster can never get it wrong.
Having two dive shops and around 24 dive sites, Bequia is a divers paradise. Our diverse marine environment includes relaxing reefs, wall dives, drift dives and even a few wrecks. You can still dive and snorkel away from the crowds in crystal clear waters with reefs that are still pristine. Our abundant and diverse sea life ranges from 100’s of species of Tropical Fish, Octopus, Sea Turtles and Sea Horses to name but a few. Bequia has it all and will satisfy beginners trying out snorkelling, scuba divers who wish to take a Padi course and experienced divers wishing to go on an exhilarating dive. Looking for an adventure? Try Discover Scuba with one of our two dive shops and enjoy a shallow reef dive with one of their experienced instructors.
We now have available our new forty page 2016 guidebook about Tropical Hideaway and the Island of Bequia. It has detailed information about local services, the fun things to do, our local restaurants, day trips to nearby islands and a wealth of other information invaluable for anyone intending to visit our beautiful Island. To read our complimentary guidebook please use the link here or scroll down the Tropical Hideaway 'Welcome' page and click on the guide book.
Bequia truly is a unique Island. Large enough to be interesting and exciting, yet small enough to retain its local charm and uniqueness that only a small off the beaten track Caribbean Island can offer. It truly is an undiscovered paradise that some well known travel journalists are only just discovering and several well known newspapers and magazines have recently published articles and all describe Bequia as an undiscovered paradise, about to be discovered.
What more can we say Come see for yourselves!

Tropical Hideaway is located in an elevated hillside position high above the famous Princess Margaret Beach and with an incredible panoramic vista overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Admiralty Bay and the surrounding forested hillsides, the views are absolutely stunning and will not disappoint.

If you enjoy walking, it's a nice downhill walk to three of the best beaches on the island. Princess Margaret Beach is the nicest, pristine and uncrowded and a short 20 - 25 minute walk down the road. A few parts of the road are steep. Most people walk down to town, the restaurants or the beach and catch a taxi back. Taxis are cheap and plentiful. Some guests walk both ways and some guests hire a car for a few days to explore the Island. Princess Margaret Beach is ideal for children and adults alike. It is very safe with turquoise blue, warm, calm waters. The beach is stunning with lovely white powdery sand. There is a very nice restaurant on the beach and there are numerous other restaurants and bars on the Island. Snorkelling is good on both points at either end of the beach.

Lower Bay is the furthest village to the West off Admiralty Bay and is different again. It is, dare I say it, more laid back than Port Elizabeth. Again you have the long, beautiful, white sandy beach together with several beach bars De Reef, Keegan’s, La Plage and Dawn’s to name but a few and all offering tasty food and giving undisturbed views of the sunset and (if you are lucky) a green flash. Sunday is the busy day here when the island comes out to ‘chill’.

The Bequia board-walk is now complete allowing you to walk from the beach at Lower Bay over a small headland onto the stunning Princess Margaret Beach. You can then walk over Princess Margaret Beach to the next headland which now has a spectacular board-walk suspended from the rock face. This connects to the Belmont walkway, passing several bars, restaurants, the two local dive shops, various small shops and cafes and eventually leads into town.

Bequia may be small and laid back, but for the adventurous there is so much to see and do. Any taxi will take you on a tour of the island visiting such places as the turtle sanctuary, pottery and whaling museum. You can hire a car, scooter or bike to explore the many beaches yourself. The fast ferry allows you to visit the other Grenadine islands and the mainland of St Vincent. There are numerous day charter yachts for you to explore the smaller, closer islands and there is the famous Friendship Rose, the old mail boat, which takes you on day trips to Mustique and Tobago Cays.

Wherever you go on Bequia, you will be given the warmest of welcomes. Everyone is happy to help you have the best holiday ever. They do not go out to hassle you for business, as on other islands. They know you are here to relax and they give you the space to do that. This is why so many visitors return year after year, after year, so be warned, if this is your first time to Bequia, it will probably not be your last.

Stunning is the word - Wonderful place and hosts

June 22, 2016

I spent about two weeks in the Pool House room at Tropical Hideaways in Bequia in May-June of 2016. My expectations were high when I arrived based on the reviews and pictures I had seen, but everything was even better than I had hoped. The Pool House room was huge and had everything I needed and then some. There are two sliding doors on each end and two patios. The other exits come up into the wet bar for the pool. I could come from the pool directly into the bathroom and not drip all over the living room. The pool was as pictured and an absolutely perfect temperature for long term lounging, not cold when you stepped in but not hot so you could stay in the water all day. The hosts Martin and Julie were helpful from the first contact through the ride to the airport. They answered all my early emails promptly, cheerfully accommodated a change to my reservations dates, and were attentive but not intrusive throughout my stay. The provisions store they have was particularly helpful. They have all the basics at good prices and even cook some lovely one-dish meals you can buy from them. The fish pie was my favorite. You can get them fresh on cooking day or frozen later. And they come in heavy glass dishes so you can heat or reheat them in the oven or the microwave. Add some veggies from town and some wine and dinner is done. The staff was also very friendly and seemed quite happy and well-treated which is good to see. I was diving most mornings with Dive Bequia (also highly recommended), had lunch in town and then spent the afternoon in the pool before sunset from my patio. Truly a lovely stay at the coolest place I have ever stayed, and I travel a LOT. It is a little expensive, but I felt like I got more than my moneys worth. The pool alone was worth the price. And a pool with no children - priceless. I was there during low season and had it to myself for about three or four days during my stay. It was fun when other people came as well. The place attracts a high end type of person I think. Everyone was very nice and very interesting. All in all, one of my best ever vacations thanks to Martin and Julie and their lovely home.

“WOW” were the only words out of my mouth

March 31, 2016

It has been just over a month since returning from our 10 night stay at Tropical Hideaway. A great vacation is one that you remember for a long time and we have not stopped thinking about it since returning home. Upon our arrival, Martin and Julie showed us around their wonderful property whilst we enjoyed their wonderful (and addictive) well known “Rum Punch”. They both commented that we were rather quiet. Well the only words I could muster were “WOW, wow, WOW” hence the title of this review! We had fairly high expectations prior to arrival having of course seen the almost too good to be true pictures and reading the many wonderful guest reviews. Even with high expectations coming in, Tropical Hideaway blew them away and those pictures are indeed the real thing! This really is a 5 star property where every attention to detail has been cared for. This was our first trip to the Caribbean where we had not stayed “all inclusive”. The provided welcome package set us up very well and the option of being able to purchase provisions onsite was incredibly convenient. Their homemade fish pie is awesome. We stayed in the Penthouse Suite and loved the outdoor living and vastness of space. We also loved the fact that during a rain shower you could still be outside enjoying everything the suite has to offer but not get wet. The Penthouse Suite comes with its own fitness room to enjoy. Though we didn’t spend any time in the room I did enjoy the convenience of using the yoga mats and blocks. These also came in handy for some impromptu yoga sessions with other guests. Bequia is a very picturesque island and not overrun with tourists. The locals are friendly and we felt very safe. To get around we opted for taxi’s and primarily used Gunno and his wife who we would thoroughly recommend. On a couple of occasions Gunno was not available and he arranged for another taxi driver to pick us up from Tropical Hideaway. Gunno even followed-up with the driver to ensure we had been collected! We did walk down to Princess Margaret beach but we never attempted the walk back up. We opted to spend that time enjoying the infinity pool with a chilled beverage and save our legs…those hills are incredibly steep! Martin and Julie have taken care of everything possible to make your stay the best it can be…and then some. Our time at Tropical Hideaway was further enhanced by the wonderful guests that we met. Often we would gather around the infinity pool and catch up on th

Our home away from home

It is our fourth time to Tropical Hideaway, this is home away from home. Julie & Martin are extremely attentive to their guests and every year they improve their villa, rooms and services (small store at the villa with just about everything you can need) to facilitate your stay. Georgeous villa, rooms, view, pool... 20 min. Steep Walk to best beaches; lower bay, princess Margaret and to town Boardwalk. Taxi's are reasonable prices if you don't feel to walk. Favorite restaurants for lunch The reef and Jack Bar. Dinner; Fernando, L'Auberge, Sugar Reef, Figue tree, Mac's. All in all a beautiful get away and would recommend it to anyone who needs a little relaxation, you will definitely see us again!

We love Hibiscus cottage for the privacy, self-catering option, lovely breezes and amazing views. Martin and Julie are exceptional hosts who have thought of everything to make our stay perfect in every way. It is a rare find to show up at a vacation destination and have everything exactly as advertised and as shown in photos. If you want to be able to step out of your place and onto a beach, this isn't for you. Otherwise, you will not be disappointed. This is our third stay and we hope to be returning very soon.

We have just returned from TH having spent just over 2 weeks there in February. This is our 5th return visit to this fabulous property and our 5th return visit to the infinity room. Its become to us more than just a holiday rental now, its just like a home away from home , largely in part to the absolutely fantastic hospitality of Martin & Julie who go the extra mile in making sure all their guests are having the best time possible. The Infinity room itself is a very spacious, well appointed room, very airy and cool in the heat of the day ( we didn?t even need to use the A/C) . A very large Bed with quality linens made for a very comfortable nights sleep. The cooking facilities are basic but sufficiently Adequate and suited our needs as we prefer to eat out on vacation more often than cooking in. The Bathroom is light , spacious with coral stone floor/wall tiles giving a very Caribbean feel with quality fitting throughout. The house has a fabulous charcoal barbeque area which is freely available for all house guests to use . You may have read on other reviews about how fabulous the pool area, the views across the bay or how the hosts provide a 1st class provisioning service but seeing is really believing. Its fair to say that it takes a little effort to get to bequia , whether you fly direct via Barbados or go via St Vincent then get the ferry, but all this extra effort is rewarded in a total relaxation vacation . How many of us can say we have holidayed on an island with no traffic lights, no roundabouts and no stress. Bequia has the lot, and TH is the idyll that makes it memorable and thats why TH has so many repeat bookings. Martin & Julie are clearly doing something right. Suggest you try it out , we are planning our return already, we would be fools not to.

'Blown Away' at Tropical Hideaway

February 23, 2016

My wife and I stayed at the Tropical Hideaway Hibiscus Cottage this year in Jan 2016, it was our second outing to the Tropical Hideaway to be pampered by Martin & Julie. They arranged our pickup at the airport and we quickly arrived at Tropical Hideaway. They are consummate hosts making sure our every need was catered for, just like before, with no change to the degree of care offered to us to ensure we settled in. We stayed in The Hibiscus Cottage it was extremely well appointed and to our view quite luxurious & beautiful; it is large & spacious with probably one of the best views of the Caribbean & the Bequia Marina below this hillside retreat; the view of the bay and sunsets in Bequia from its vantage point are stunning. Every aspect of this villa property (which extends to a number of other units available for rental) is brilliant. We wasted no time in settling in, and Martin was on hand to show us around again and welcome us with his famed rum punch cocktail to get the holiday started. Both Julie & Martin make every effort to ensure your stay is trouble free and the stresses of modern living will soon disappear. Our 'take' on the hosts is that they greatly realise that Bequia is 'off the tourist map norm' and they know their guests have taken much time and trouble to choose them above others, they intend meet all your expectations; and we found they certainly do. The infinity pool is beautiful, you can quite easily stay your whole vacation around the property without venturing further if you wish, as provisions can be easily arranged with Martin or Julie to be delivered with costs, we found, just the same as purchasing direct in town, so you need not move, just relax and be prepared to be "blown away" in your expectations. Along with many other reviewers, we found our hosts the best we have experienced anywhere; as by example, Martin & Julie had need to urgently visit the UK during our stay, so needed to leave their property, they made arrangements for their close friends to "villa sit" and look after us. It was all so seamless and the 'stand -in' hosts were marvellous and just as attentive. The extent of Martin & Julie's care was enhanced further by their invitation to all the guests there that week, to dine with them, (as perhaps atonement for them not being close by for the whole week; clearly they had no need to do this, but they did). The evening & meal was wonderful & a real riot of fun, amusement, and conversation. Tru

We have never experienced a 5 star vacation before. Julie and Martin have created a complete package for getting away. This hotel/accomodation in Bequia is delightfully located with spectacular views over the Capital Port Elizabeth, and has probably the best pool on the island. The hosts Julie and Martin are unfailingly helpful in providing anything that may be required. This was my second stay and the Pool House where I stayed had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. If I had wanted to cook a thanksgiving dinner I could have done, the range is bigger than mine at home. I even had a walk in fridge freezer. Two wonderful terraces to watch humming birds feed and drink in the view.

We recently returned from a two week stay at Tropical Hideaway staying in the Infinity Studio. What an absolutely superb location with wonderful hosts in Martin and Julie. Bequia is such a wonderful Caribbean island and remains unspoilt with great charm and warm friendly people. We always felt safe where ever we travelled, either on foot or by car. T.H is everything and more that has already been written in previous reviews. Attention to detail is second to none while the intimate setting offers wonderful privacy if guest so wish or can mingle with other guests (usually around the incredible infinity pool) in this 5 accommodation facility. We stayed in the Infinity Studio tucked away only a few steps from the pool area which was wonderful as my wife and I could swim any time day or night. The accommodations are well furnished and the staff really goes out of their way to keep the facility impeccably clean and tidy. We rarely need to use the air conditioner as there was nearly always a cooling breeze which was most welcome when sleeping. If you?re looking to get away from the "all inclusive" resorts this for us was a fabulous way to go. We shall be going back for sure, Thanks Martin and Julie for helping make our vacation undoubtedly one of our best ever!!

Owner Supplied Testimonials

*Tropical Hideaway has everything, gracious hosts, wow views, stocked fridge, comfort paradise*

From a rum punch greeting by Julie and Martin, to our goodbye send off by our newly made friends, not one thing could be improved about our Tropical Hideaway experience. We were impressed by the fine details of Tropical Hideaway. The natural stone pebbles of the infinity pool, comfort of the pool-side gazebo daybed, and the beautiful tended landscape. You have to try Martin's delicious fish pie for breakfast or dinner. Same Time Next Year.

*Tropical Hideaway Bequia - Still our #1 pick ever*

If any of you are like us who love to travel, you would expect things to get run down at places you frequent often. Well at Tropical Hideaway Bequia you would be wrong. This place continues to amaze us. It clearly is our favorite place to stay in the entire Caribbean. The owners are still as awesome and accommodating. One of the things that we had to do when we were there was to always go to town each day to bring back items for our use whether it be beverages or food. Well that has been solved by our hosts at the Tropical Hideaway. They have put together some much needed items that make it so much nicer for all of their guests. We didn't think this place could get any better, but it has! This is definitely a "MUST VISIT" place. On this trip we actually got to meet some other guests who read our first review and were very thankful for it. They have been back even more often than us. If you have a chance, please try Tropical Hideaway Bequia! You most definitely be pleased. As a guest there several times, we have stayed in the Hibiscus unit. It is farther away from the main pool area and other rooms but the views and peace and quiet are not to be beat! The units have everything you need--nice bathroom and kitchenette and great sleeping accommodations. There is also a TV with a wide range of movies and series to watch as well as WiFi.

*Going back next year*

Tropical Hideaway and Bequia are simply breathtaking. We stayed in the Penthouse Suite for 5 nights and loved everything about it. The view is gorgeous, the accommodations luxurious and very clean. Martin and Julie are gracious hosts who have created this amazing property- EVERYTHING was perfect, way beyond our expectations. I have already e mailed several of our friends , would love to share this unique experience with them next year.

*Fantastically speechless*

From the first moment we saw Julie at the airport (airstrip, more accurately) I knew that we were in for a treat. The fifteen minute drive to Tropical Hideaway was a great glimpse of what was to come. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Marlon? the gardener and Martin, Julie's husband who proceeded to show us the Infinity Studio and explain how everything was set up plus instructions regarding the wi-fi and small appliances. I just wanted to get outside and see the pool...but the room was beautiful with its stone floors, walls, and huge boulder tub. Julie brought us two rum punches and it was on. We ordered up lobster pizza from Mac's and changed into shorts. The other guests, only eight of them, were gracious, friendly, and interesting. Martin and Julie prepared fresh Pina Coladas and cooked dinner for the guests one evening. The infinity pool was just steps away and the views of Admiralty Bay from our small porch were astounding. You will find it very private, at times it was easy to forget that others were staying at the villa. The next 10 days were the best vacation we've experienced to date and I've been rambling around Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean since the early 80's.

*Two times a charm*

This was our second two week stay at the Tropical Hideaway and we just fell more in love with the place and the island of Bequia. Last year we stayed in the Hibiscus Cottage which was magnificent and this year we chose to stay in the Pool House. The Pool House is huge and ideal for longer stays. Everything you need is in the Pool House from a full size refrigerator with ice maker, range with 6 burners and a washer so you can pack light! I cannot say enough about Bequia and the Tropical Hideaway where we love to call home when we visit. Martin and Julie are more than just top notch hosts, they have become dear friends, and for that reason alone we will be back! Until next time we will have to settle with reminiscing over pictures and the new memories we made.

*Can't wait for a return visit!*

My wife is awesome for finding this honeymoon spot! We stayed at the Tropical Hideaway in Bequia with Martin and Julie in November for eight days. The web photos and descriptions of the property are exceeded only by the reality of the place. Every detail was well thought out and beyond expectation. The property exudes quality and attention to detail and the proprietors reflect these same principles. The infinity pool is perfect. All water in Bequai is collected rain water, as is the case with the pool. This rain water is then treated and filtered using some sort of an electrolyte system which means that the water is clean, crystal clear, pure, and soft. It has no chlorine odor or burn. This was the first time I've been able to comfortably open my eyes under water. It has a swim up bar as well as an attached gazebo containing a built in day bed - I found it to be a great reading spot but the wifi in the gazebo is very strong so you could probably email or stream a movie there too. This is all surrounded by a well appointed sunny and spacious patio. From the entire area you overlook princess margaret beach, the harbor, and beyond to a collection of sailboats, yachts, and cruise ships. It epitomizes a relaxing and tranquil setting. The terraced gardens that encompass the property are thoughtfully hard-scaped and manicured beautifully. In addition to the gracious hosts, the small staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It is impossible to rate this place and our experience there high enough. There are mosquitos if you are out by the gazebo but we were provided with bug spray and it was only bothersome around dusk. I'm struggling for any critical thoughts's a steep walk from the beach but we usually took a cab - many of which are easily available.

*Awesome week in Bequia*

My wife and I, along with our teenage daughter stayed for a great week. Martin and Julie, owners, were wonderful. The pictures on line greatly underestimate the facilities. Everything is well maintained, and you will not find a better view or setting anywhere in the Carribean. We stayed in the penthouse suite, strongly recommend it, and often just sat on the balcony and looked out over the sea while catching some rays. The infinity pool is perfect to just hang out in while enjoying the rum punch. One night we had the chance to sit with Martin and Julie and just chat about the the making of this "hideaway" it was a fun evening and would encourage anyone staying to do the same. Bequia can best be described as a carribean island 30 years ago. Don't let that fool you, it makes the island special. We walking around the "downtown" often with no concern. We rented a car at the hideaway for 3 days to see the island. The roads can be challenging, as they are narrow and often on the cliffs, if you are up for it, rent a car and drive around, there are some nice places to see. You can purchase groceries in town, Doris' has more upper end stuff, but for the stamples we found Knights more reasonable. Go to Asher's for fresh fruits, talk with him, and if you are not familiar with some of the tropical fruits he will let you sample. You can buy meats at the tropical hideaway and that's what we did. The quality was great, prices reasonable, and very easy. We eat out around the island. The Fig Tree has great scenery, we went during the day for, which I would suggest, it's a tad pricey, so lunch is best, plus you get the nice scenery. L'Aubege is a nice resturuant downtown right on the water, we had dinner, and it was worth the price. If you are going to treat yourself to a great dinner, make it here. Don't shy away from the local small food stands, we ate Sweety Birds, right in back of Asher's fruits. Not much to look at but the "roti" local dish was better than Fig Tree, for a quarter of the price. Take a walk down the boardwalk and get ice cream at the Ginger Bread hotel. If you are looking for a low stress, relaxing tropical get away....this is the place. Martin and Julie truly work as hard as they can to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. We have traveled throughout the Carribean and can honestly say you will not find more gracious hosts.

*Heaven on Earth*

We have just arrived back from our two week stay at Tropical Hideaway and it was more than we could have dreamed of . Martin, Julie and their daughter Corrie took every effort to make our stay idyllic . The house, the staff Marlon and Annie, Missy ( the most amazing pooch) nothing left us disappointed . Every part of the house is perfection . The best pool I have ever seen and the cleanliness of each room is second to none. We were lucky enough to have the whole property with 5 other friends who were all equally amazed every second of very day at the pure perfection of this property. The island of Bequia is one of the friendliest island my husband Brett and I have visited, everyone makes you feel so welcome. We certainly will be back and the best way to see Bequia is from Tropical Hideaway, views to die for . I would say best spot of the island. Everybody needs to visit here once in their life, I on the other hand need it more frequently !!! Thank you Martin , Julie , Corrie and gang for making this one of the most precious two weeks of my 43 years . See you next year for certain ! Lydia Eadon

*Wedding of our dreams*

My husband and I were recently married in Bequia and we rented all 5 rooms at Tropical Hideaway for us and our immediate family. It is truly hard to find words to describe how much we enjoyed our stay!! The owners, Martin and Julie, were incredible hosts who picked us up from the ferry/airport and brought us up to the villa. When we arrived at the villa, Martin was quick to provide us with his own special rum punch (definitely recommended!) and then take us on a tour of the different rooms. When we got our first glimpse of the pool we knew we had made the right choice! Absolutely stunning! The infinity pool is one of the nicest pools I've ever seen in my life. Others in our party were also quite taken with the poolside daybed! We spent a total of 8 nights together as a group and spent most of our time hanging out by the pool. When the big day arrived - Martin and Julie were absolutely incredible making sure that we had everything we needed and decorating the dinner table, etc. They truly went above and beyond. We had wedding photos taken by the infinity pool and on the grand staircase and they are spectacular! We can't imagine staying anywhere more beautiful and with such gracious hosts!! We are already talking about coming back for an anniversary celebration!

*Accommodations and staff that were well above and beyond our expectations*

My wife and I stayed in the Penthouse Suite at the Tropical Hideaway for our Honeymoon. From the moment we first contacted them with interest through the ride to the ferry for the return home, Martin and Julie were very proactive in providing useful information for our trip. The Penthouse Suite was absolutely stunning. It maintained the style of an island villa yet incorporated modern amenities that made our stay more comfortable and convenient. A few steps outside the suite and we were walking through their amazing gardens on our way to the infinity pool. The pool area itself carried the same style, amazing views and amenities as our suite. We easily could have spent the entire trip in just these two areas. Beyond the accommodations, Martin and Julie were extremely helpful in providing recommendations on local excursions, transportation options and restaurants. They also have a great selection of meats, breads, beer, wine, etc... all on site for purchase at equal or less that local prices. This allowed us to cook in our outdoor kitchen while relaxing and enjoying the views. Overall, our experience was five star. We read many reviews prior to booking the trip and wanted someplace that wasn't over populated with tourists but maintained a romantic getaway with modern conveniences, the Tropical Hideaway on Bequia was able to achieve this balance. Not only do I highly recommend staying there, we are planning on returning for our anniversary.

*You're going to love it here*

We stayed at Tropical Hideaway Bequia 8/25 to 8/31 and were very disappointed to leave and continue our week in Mustique. Martin and Julie's home is incredible. The eight years it took them to construct it shows in every detail. Clearly, no expense was spared. All of their rooms are exceptional and the views are unbelievable. The pool is the finest that I have ever seen and found myself lounging there daily. Martin and Julie are the most warm and accommodating host that I have ever encountered. We arrived as perfect strangers but left with big hugs. It felt as though we were leaving friends. Please believe all of the other reviews. They are all very true. We loved it so much that we have already booked our February vacation. They have truly created paradise. And have the most consistently amazing reviews on Tripadvisor that I have ever read. FYI, the Bengals are wonderful and love Temptations kitty treats. Missy the Rottwieller is very friendly and loves Puperroni dog treats. She also loves Macs pizza, as do we. Martin is a master at making Rum Punch and Mojitos. You will not want to miss this special treat.

*Nowhere Better*

We saw Bequia featured on an episode of "House Hunters International" and fell hard for the island's beauty and slow pace. When we read about Tropical Hideaway, we felt the same way. But the photos are deceptive -- they are only one dimensional. Our trip here was off the charts in all directions! The views were jaw-dropping, literally. The infinity pool -- open whenever you feel like taking a warm dip -- was part of every single day and night for us. The owners, Martin and Julie, make everything better: they never tired of answering our questions, made food and beach recommendations that hit the mark, arranged for guests to get a discount at Doris' Grocery for supplies, and even provided a cell phone programmed with local favorites. Missy the Dog and her cat companions were sweet as well. The Infinity Room -- with a rock tub so big you can't quite comprehend it until you soak in it -- was terrific. Stone floors, so you don't have to worry about coming in from the pool and making a mess. Lots of attention paid to detail here, and the grounds are beautiful, thanks to the hosts. Absolutely no complaints -- well, except that the Friendship Rose canceled our daylong excursion, but that's another story. The best thing i can say about Tropical Hideaway: From the first moment, we started talking about when we could come back. And we will!

*Best rental in Bequia*

I don't normally leave reviews but in this case I feel compelled to make the effort as it is so fully deserved. The owners of Tropical Hideaway have created a superbly situated and appointed rental villa with several independent room options and a large infinity edge pool that commands expansive views over the main bay. The location is both convenient for Port Elisabeth, beaches and restaurants but also nice and quiet. The personal service provided, including airport pick-up and drop-off was exceptional. The separate cottage we stayed in was very well presented with all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay. The whole of Tropical Hideaway is well maintained by professional staff and a gardener and it clearly shows. My wife and I have stayed on Bequia a number of times and know the island well. In our view, quite simply, Tropical Hideaway offers by far the best value and I think one of the nicest places to stay on the island.

*Paradise on a tropical Island*

Tropical Hideaway ,with its two separate cottages and accommodation in the main building ,is perfect for a relaxing holiday. The Infinity a pool has to be one of the best pools in the Caribbean and the view is to die for. This place is a 'must return place' . The hosts ,Julie and Martin ,make you feel at your ease and we look forward to a return visit next year.

Tropical Hideaway is a well thought out complex offering accommodation in two bungalows and three apartments. It is well appointed with excellent fittings and kitchens. More importantly the beds are extremely comfortable. That aside it has the most amazing infinity pool with views to die for. The owners are very helpful and hospitable and certainly made our enjoyment of our stay in Bequia the greater. I cannot wait to return.

*Just read the amazing reviews*

Just take time to read all the reviews and check out Tropical Hideaway's extensive web pages There is no point in me adding any more or you searching any further. It has to be one of the best finds in the Caribbean. We stayed in Hibiscus Cottage (reviewed separately) for 8 nights and my only negative would be how will anywhere else we stay in the future come even close to this. We saw all the accommodations and from the amazing penthouse to the pool house, I am sure you will not be disappointed with which ever you choose. With such glowing reviews and amazing photos there is always the danger that on arrival there can be an element of disappointment, but trust me with Tropical Hideaway your expectations will be exceeded.

""We had the pleasure at staying at the tropical hideaway in the penthouse suite from November 15th through November 24th. There is so much to say, I don't know where to start!!!! I had been speaking with Martin and Julie for a few months before we arrived. They couldn't be any more helpful and informative. It was my birthday and we were so excited to go to Bequia! When we arrived, we were met by Julie at the airport and instantly we knew how warm and friendly she was. When we arrived at Tropical Hideaway, we were met by Martin and given the "grand" tour. The kitchen and refrigerator were stocked with sodas, beer, water, eggs, bread, lettuce, tomatoes, coffee, tea, sugar, milk, etc, and even a bottle of wine. As far as the penthouse, the bed was huge and comfortable and set up that you could close the doors and put on the A/C if needed. The bathroom took a bit to get used to since it has no doors... not a problem if it is just the two of you, but if you have company, a little awkward. The penthouse was immaculate and decorated beautifully. As far as the view, it was so spectacular! You felt like you were in a postcard! After they showed us around, they invited us for a drink by the pool where we chatted for over 2 hours. I felt like we knew them for years! The next day was my birthday, and we ventured out (rented Julie and Martin's car) and went shopping. Doris's is by far the best place to shop for groceries. Almost anything you want from the states can be found there. Knights is also okay, but I wouldn't even waste my time there, just go to Doris's. She is very helpful and nice and has frozen meats from the US, produce, etc... One stop shopping! When we returned back, we hit the pool.... Breathtaking!!!! The view looked fake... felt like we were frozen in time.... The pool is beautiful beyond belief and we really didn't feel like we needed to leave for any reason! At about 3pm, there was a knock at my door. It was Julie and Martin delivering a gift from my son..... All baked breads from the Upper Crust Bakery with cinnamon rolls, breakfast meat, etc..... Hand delivered! It was beautiful, with a beautiful card, and then Julie said it was only part one and she would be back before we went out for dinner. What I didn't know at that time was that my family was driving her crazy!! My sister had called her in advance to talk to her about a special birthday dinner and Julie took a lot of time with her. The morning of my birthday, my son called her and she organized everything he wanted! At 5 pm, the door bell rang again... enter Julie... with 2 bottles of wine and cheeses, italian meats, etc!!! We had seen her at Doris's that morning, but didn't know she was there to pick up items for my son's gift! Unbelievable! Who does that? This is not a hotel.... but you wouldn't have known it.. They truly love what they do. During our stay, we didn't do much. We ventured out 3 nights for dinner (Bagatelle's, L'Auberge's, and Frangipani's...) The dinner at Bagatelle's was okay (overpriced for quantity), L'Auberge's very good, but out favorite was Frangipanis(pasta dishes excellent!) Julie and Martin also helped us organize renting a sailboat for the day and accepted our invitation to come along... They put us in touch with Hervay (sp????) who was a peach! So much fun (let us drive the boat, kept us out until sunset, just great all the way around!!) We sailed over to Mustique, had lunch at Basil's bar (very good, great rum punch!), then took a taxi over to macaroni beach! What a beautiful beach and secluded... no one was there! We hit a rain storm on our way back, but the "captain" was great and Martin drove the boat while he navigated... Before you know it, we were through it, the skies cleared to the most magnificent sunset you can imagine! We broke out the cheese and crackers and had a little party... What a fun day! We invited Martin and Julie over for dinner one night with another couple we met that were on their honeymoon and had a fabulous time. The kitchen is well stocked and what we didn't have, Martin and Julie brought with them. They even let us borrow their lobster pot. The nicest thing was that even though the house belongs to Martin and Julie, they really hadn't spent anytime in the penthouse. It was really fun having them there and the hours passed very quickly. Most days, we just hung by the pool... no reason to leave... We needed a relaxing vacation and that's just what we got. If we ran out of anything like liquor, beer, wine, mixers, etc, Julie and Martin have actually starting selling it at the same price it would cost you in town, so there was no need to leave. If Julie was going into town, she would always let us know in case we wanted to go....... The only issue I had was that I get bit very easily... mosquito's and insects seem to love me! My husband didn't get bit at all, but being the penthouse is open aired, they seemed to find me! They provide "off" for you and gave me a spray for the penthouse and that seemed to help. It was finally time for us to go home, very sad to leave, but I feel like we met extremely nice people and will see them again! I could go on and on about Tropical Hideaway and Martin and Julie but I would take up pages! It's a fabulous place with fabulous staff and fabulous owners... nothing else needs to be said!!""

*An amazing place to stay - beautiful views, friendly helpful hosts, wonderful accommodations!*

My brother and I stayed at the Tropical Hideaway for a week in October, 2013. It was a wonderful, relaxing week. The service could not have been better. Having the refrigerator stocked with some basic groceries made our arrival after a day of traveling so much easier - as did having Julie pick us up at the airport. Martin and Julie were such gracious hosts and so helpful with anything we needed. They were great company as well - several evenings we spent time visiting with them around the pool watching the sunset and also spent a day at the beach with them snorkeling and kayaking. The Tropical Hideaway is just lovely. The landscaping and gardens are beautiful and the rooms/cottages are very comfortable. The infinity pool and the view from it are amazing. I usually enjoy going and doing when on vacation but after a day or two found that spending time in the gazebo at the pool with a good book was one of my favorite things to do. I have never had such a relaxing vacation and wish I could go back every few months. The location was great! We rented the car that was available (stocked with beach chairs, cooler, blanket, and towels) which meant we could go all over the island easily but I also walked down to Princess Margaret beach and back one afternoon and it was quite doable. Walking to town would also be very doable. I enjoyed buying fresh vegetables and fruit at the stalls in town and fixing simple meals back in our room. It was so nice there that I didn't really want to go out in the evening to restaurants. Wonderful place to stay - I've recommended it so highly that my son has booked his honeymoon here this spring!

*Paradise Found*

I usually leave tripadvisor reviews to my wife but in the case of Tropical Hideaway I have made an exception. We flew from St Lucia to St Vincent after being guests at a wedding and then boarded the ferry to Bequia about one hour away. When we sailed around the headland into Admiralty Bay l noticed Jacks Bar at the end of the golden sand of Princes Margaret beach High up above Jacks in the lush greenery was Tropical Hideaway our luxurious base for the next 8 days. Before we left the ferry my wife and l knew this was the place for us and this feeling was reinforced when we were met at the port by Julie Mansfield our co host. On the 10 minute interesting elevated drive to paradise Julie was lovely and in this short journey set the scene for what was going to be a great holiday experience. When we arrived at Tropical Hideaway we were met by Martin , Julies husband and Mizzi their friendly dog . We immediately established a rapport and our laughter could be heard as we walked through the lovely landscaped garden on the way to our accommodation in the grounds the fabulous Hibiscus Cottage. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away and walking through the garden was one such moment when we saw the magnificent infinity pool and the views over Admiralty Bay. The wooden walkway guided us to Hibiscus another ?wow factor? an excellently appointed, extremely private cottage with an ever changing view over the bay. We walked downhill to Port Elizabeth on most days chatting or waving to some of the friendliest people we have encountered, absorbing the atmosphere of this true Caribbean gem. Guno a local taxi driver became a good and very reliable friend who drove us around the island when required and his knowledge and humor complimented the journeys. One of the highlights was a trip to Mystique on the schooner the locally built Friendship Rose, this is a sail not to be missed .I could go on about the scenery the restaurants, and beaches the friendly locals and the ambiance of the Island. My wife and l are fortunate that we travel all over the world and in our opinion you must visit Bequai and stay at Tropical Hideaway, Finally Martin and Julie Mansfield are an amazing couple, with a lovely family who have led such an interesting and adventurous life from Birmingham to Bequai. We felt honored to have met them and thanks for allowing us to share your paradise, I?m sure we will be back.

*An outstanding location with hospitality to match - one the best holiday stays we have experienced*

On our arrival we were met by Martin and Julie, having been collected from the airport, and given a comprehensive introduction to the accommodation. Throughout our stay Martin, Julie and their staff were on hand, most helpful and keen to ensure that our stay was made trouble free and relaxing. Although the accommodation is located above the beaches and local town its location provides stunning views which can be absorbed from an amazing infinity pool. The accommodation is very well appointed with excellent facilities. The kitchen provided all the items we required with a comprehensive welcome food pack provided. An excellent home entertainment system and wifi were also available for use. Access to local shops to purchase food was good with a relatively steep but manageable walk that took around 15 minutes and travel back up to the accommodation, for the less energetic, was normally provided by a local friendly taxi driver at good rates. For those not interested in cooking their own food many other excellent options were available from take away delivery to calling on a chef to cook for you. Overall this was an exceptional holiday and one that will remain memorable thanks to the hospitality shown and remarkable location Martin and Julie have in Bequia.

*Amazing - you won't be disappointed*

Tropical Hideaway's Infinity Studio just took our breath away. If you thought the photos looked good (which they do) they cannot prepare you for the size and "wow" factor of this room. We loved our time there and the only problem we have now is that anywhere else we stay will be compared with this amazing place and come a poor second Martin and Julie are great hosts and have done an amazing job in creating the really special place of Tropical Hideaway. It felt like a real privelege to be staying there. We enjoyed meeting up with other guests around the pool to watch the sunset and swap stories of the day - not to mention the odd rum punch or two which Martin & Julie generously produced (thank you!) Bequia is a beautiful island with so much to see - make sure you have long enough there to properly enjoy it - and you will want to spend lots of time relaxing at Tropical Hideaway as well - it is hard to leave! We can't wait to go back

**Outstanding Tropical Paradise!*

Martin and Julie (whom we now call friends), run an outstanding, luxury resort on the perfect island of Bequia. Their enthusiasm in all they do is tangible. And, being lucky enough to stay in our lovely cottage for a month we feel well qualified to comment. And, being luxury villa owners ourselves in Greece we also feel well qualified to comment on the amazing standards of accommodation and concierge offered. Tropical Hideaway Villas and in particular,Hibiscus cottage are a perfect choice for that special occasion, 'paradise' retreat. The cottage is completely private and we were known not to emerge for very long periods! Why would we when we could gaze out over the sparkling Carribean whilst eating toasted coconut and lobster salad! However, someone was always available for a lazy chat and cocktail by the incredible infinity pool. We met some wonderful people during our stay. Highlights: definitely Martin's rum punch! Martin, I so miss your lovely parties, but certainly not the hangovers! Julie I miss you keeping an eye out for me with the locals and our chats about hair! And Corrie, 'daughter extraordinaire' I miss your fantastic Swedish massages, pedicures and tiger stories! The best thing about magical Bequia, despite the obvious, palm fringed beaches, delicious seafood, fruits, marvellous walks and friendly people is.....the music! Joyful music all over the island. We will definitely be back! PS. Martin, I did not mention the toaster!

Amazing, amazing, amazing two weeks have just been spent at Tropical Hideaway. The Mansfield's (Martin , Julie , Corrie) are such a friendly welcoming family that from the moment you arrive you are made to feel totally at home in this truly stunning accommodation.Perched on a hillside and surrounded by lush mature gardens the views are second to none. The weekly staff are so friendly and helpful and the outstanding infinity pool was an absolute pleasure. The local restaurant's that we did try were all of very high quality and only a few minutes away. The Mansfield's hospitality and stunning villa can not be praised enough, for those who have not been yet you are really missing out.Thank you so much Martin , Julie and Corrie for our amazing two weeks 10/10

*Tropical Hideaway = Heaven*

What can I say? Tropical Hideaway was an absolute paradise. Everything that is represented on TH?s homepage is delivered and more. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the infinity pool is amazing, and landscaping is lush and lends itself to a serene atmosphere. Martin and Julie, the delightful owners, couldn?t be more helpful and accommodating. They have thought of everything down to the last detail. The pool has a great sound system and a fantastic daybed in which to laze away the afternoon. Each room includes a starter pack of staples, coffee, tea, bread, eggs, beverages, etc. We prepared breakfast, sometimes lunch in the kitchen which is outfitted with stovetop, microwave, toaster and kettle. On this quiet island, it was great to be able to take advantage of TH?s excellent selection of in-room movies. One thing I can?t stress enough, follow Martin & Julie?s suggestions. If they suggest are particular grocery store, shop there; take-out from a particular restaurant, do so, etc. I have been to many Caribbean islands and am of the opinion that Bequia and TH fit my needs/personality. If you want to be laid back (which we did), you can do so easily here. Unlike St. Barth, there is no ?scene? in Bequia, the purpose of your stay will be to relax and unwind. We plan on seeing Martin & Julie (and their furry friends Missy and Tonga) again very soon.

*8 Days in Paradise*

Hope I don't go on too long but there is a so much to say about our experience at the Tropical Hideaway in Bequia. My wife and I and group of friends first visited Bequia in 2012 while on a sailing cruise. We only spent one day and night there but we all fell in love with the island and thought it would be nice to return one day. So while thinking of ways to celebrate my wife's 50th this year I thought I would search for a spot on Bequia. After investigating several options I landed on the Tropical Hideaway and couldn't be happier with that decision. The Tropical Hideaway is almost indescribable, an amazing villa that owners Martin and Julie Mansfield essentially designed and constructed themselves along with their daughters. It's an incredible story which can be viewed on their site tropicalhideawaybequia. Martin and Julie not only own the property but also operate the vacation rental business side of the Hideaway. They reside in what I guess you could describe as the main level of the main house and were there during our stay as I believe they are on most occasions. You might think at first that this would be a bit invasive on your vacation experience but couldn't be further from the truth. They always seemed to be there when you needed them but out of sight when you wanted to relax and enjoy everything the Tropical Hideaway had to offer. We rented the entire villa with 4 other couples so we were able to look at all of the accommodations and I can tell you I don't think you could go wrong with any of them but I guess that would depend on what you were looking for. My wife and I stayed in the Penthouse Suite which is very large and open with a spectacular panoramic view of Admiralty Bay, spacious enough to entertain all of our friends. As I said earlier, not sure you could go wrong with your choice, all of our friends thoroughly enjoyed their accommodations as well. I could go on about each of them but you are better off visiting the web page for more info. Now probably the most unique feature of the many you will find at the Hideaway is the Infinity Pool complete with pool bar and gazebo bed. I cannot even estimate the amount of time we spent there enjoying a refreshing dip along with a refreshing cocktail. You will be in awe not only of the view from the pool but also of the amount of work that went into construction this marvel. One of our most memorable moments will certainly be the evening we had Elfick, the Signing Chef come to the Hideaway, prepare an authentic Caribbean dinner for us all and entertain us with his guitar and voice along with his ucalaly playing partner and a variety of music ranging from Classic Country to the lively Caribbean Soca. Elfick is a very interesting man with many interesting stories. The whole event took place up on Martin and Julie's beautiful wrap around terrace. Martin and Julie joined us for dinner and Martin of course supplied copious amounts of his killer rum punch, honestly one of the best on the island. We shared a lot of food, spirits and most of all laughter and I could not recommend this enough. As far as getting around the island while we were there, Martin and Julie arranged for Guno Taxi to pick us up from the airport when we arrived and we used Guno and his wife the entire time we were on the island, they were both happy go lucky individuals just happy to be of service. A nice little touch was that Martin and Julie provided us with a mobile phone to use and take with you while we were out and about so we could contact Guno whenever we needed to be picked up or to use back at the Hideaway to order delicious pizza from Mac's Pizzeria, another thing you don't want to miss out on while on Bequia. I could really go on and on and I realize I am missing so many more things but all I will say is that there is no way you will be disappointed if you choose to visit the Tropical Hideaway and if by chance you were, then there probably is no pleasing you. I would just like to send out a huge thank you to our new friends Martin and Julie as well as their lovely staff (especially Marlin who filleted and prepared the fish we caught one morning) you all made our stay one of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences we may ever have. Hope to see you all again soon. Jody and Sandy

*Amazing trip in paradise!!*

We recently returned from an 8 day stay at the Tropical Hideaway with a group of friends. The hospitality we encountered from Martin & Julie and many others on the island was top notch. Bequia and the Tropical Hideaway in particular truly is a friendly island escape! My husband and I stayed in the Infinity Room and loved the room. It had everything we needed for our stay. We loved the fact that we were steps from the pool! We were fortunate to be able to check out all of the rooms while we were there and each one was very unique and really you couldn't go wrong with any of them :). The property was clean and meticulously cared for. The views from the Tropical Hideaway are breathtaking. Any questions we had were answered by Martin & Julie and whatever we needed they were quick to accommodate. This is a trip that we will never forget! We will definitely recommend the Tropical Hideaway to all our friends and family and will hopefully go back sometime in the future.

*Didn't want to leave, already booked for next year!*

Julie and Martin were the perfect hosts. We were met at the port when we arrived and on departure Julie arranged to have us collected at the port in St Vincent as well. The welcome pack was excellent, bread, butter, salad stuff, Tuna, oil, sauces, nuts, eggs, crisps, milk, soft drinks, beer and wine. Toiletries, bath robes and lovely soft, large towels were also provided All good quality and totally unexpected. We stayed in the Infinity Room which was very close to the pool. There is a small kitchenette which was fine for us as we wanted to eat out occasionally. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of storage in the room. We had an outside area for dining. The most impressive pool I have ever seen. The views were amazing and the water always warm. Plenty of sunbeds and chairs and the pool bar with ice maker and fridge to store your drinks was excellent. We hired a car for the time we were there however many people walked into town (down hill but steep) and took a taxi back (about 40 EC). There were plenty of restaurants on the island and the beaches were good, especially Princess Margaret beach with Jack's restaurant. In the mornings we liked to go into town and potter around the shops and market and then have coffee and cake overlooking the bay at Gingerbread cafe. They also serve the most amazing ice creams. All in all, a great place for a relaxing holiday. If you go to Bequia definitely stay at Tropical Hideaway. What more can I say - we've already booked for next year!

*The most amazing vacation yet!*

Tropical Hideaway????.Spectacular Martin & Julie???.very gracious hosts?.fantastic people. My wife and I stayed at Tropical Hideaway from March3 thru March 16 this year and were totally in awe of this ?tropical hideaway?. We did not book until September 2014 and were surprised that Martin /Julie could accommodate us, but it was managed with somewhat of a unique booking that allowed us to stay in three of the five rooms during our stay. First we were in Palm Cottage, which is a lovely room, with great views of Admiralty Bay & Port Elizabeth (all of the rooms have spectacular views actually). We loved the 4 days that we stayed in the room and thought we would be disappointed leaving to move to the Hibiscus Cottage, as we felt so comfortable there. Marlon, their groundskeeper/ helper moved our luggage while we went into town and when we arrived back all our possessions had been relocated to a room with even more stunning views. Our final stop in our stay at Tropical Hideaway was the Pool House. It was this room that my wife fell in love with. We were offered accommodations in the penthouse, for the final two days of our trip, however we chose to stay in the Pool House for the remainder of our stay. We viewed the Penthouse & Infinity Studio and they are equally impressive as the rooms that we stayed in. Everything that you see on the web is as it is. The rooms & the views amazing?.. the hosts, even more impressive. All in all, this is truly a five star accommodation. We are already booking to go back next year! If you are seeking solitude and want a very special vacation, this is the place for you! It is truly SPECTACULAR! ***** Star

*Spectacular views from resplendent gardens and deluxe pool*

My wife and I stayed at the Tropical Hideaway at the end of April - only for 4 nights. I now wished I had arranged to stay longer! The quality of accommodation was more than we had expected (The Penthouse Suite) - with a sumptuous and grand bed, small library with a desk, a decent sized kitchen with gas cooker/microwave/fridge/ice-maker - more than enough to make good meals. Our host (Corrie) was delightful and helped with a supply of food and drink (there is a 'menu' of food and drink which are competitively priced). The location is up the hill - but with a westerly aspect (for sun sets!) over Port Elizabeth, the view is spectacular. The property was developed by Martin and his family to a very very good standard with good attention to detail (e.g. all the rooms are mosquito proofed' with netting) that this makes it a place 'home from home'. Highly recommended for honeymooners or even small groups of friends.

*Be prepared for luxury & to be 'Blown Away' at Hibiscus Cottage*

My wife and I stayed at the Tropical Hideaway Hibiscus Cottage this year in Jan 2016, it was our second outing to the Tropical Hideaway to be pampered by Martin & Julie. They arranged our pickup at the airport and we quickly arrived at Tropical Hideaway. They are consummate hosts making sure our every need was catered for. The Hibiscus Cottage was very well appointed and luxuriously beautiful; large & spacious with probably one of the best views of the Marina in Bequia & the bay from its hillside vantage point. Our 'take' on the hosts are that they greatly realise that Bequia is 'off the tourist map norm' and they know their guests have taken much time and trouble to choose them above others, they intend meet all your expectations and we found they certainly do. The infinity pool is beautiful and you can quite easily stay your whole vacation around the property without venturing further if you wish, as provisions can be easily arranged with Martin or Julie to be delivered with costs, we found, just the same as purchasing direct in town, so you need not move, just relax and be prepared to be "blown away" in your expectations. Along with many other reviewers, we found our hosts the best we have experienced anywhere and as by example, Martin & Julie had need to urgently visit the UK during our stay, so needed to leave their property, they made arrangements for their close friends to "villa sit" and look after us. It was all so seamless and the 'stand -in' hosts were marvellous and just as attentive. The extent of Martin & Julie's care was enhanced by their invitation to all guest there that week, to dine with them, as perhaps atonement for them not being close by for the whole week; clearly they had no need to this, but they did. The evening & meal wonderful & a real scream; a riot of fun and amusement and brilliant cuisine to boot!!, Really what more could anyone wish for. All guests have become firm friends and as we discovered, our 'stand-in' hosts who joined us for the dinner meal; even offered their skills & knowledge of the US to help us with a planned a road trip to visit the National Parks around Colorado & Denver etc as a bonus!!. Everyone was a 'Star'; Brilliant ; and so well done, we need to plan further visits back to them.
