We just completed our third stay at Lakefront Fisherman?s Paradise. Our first stay was 15 months ago and our only complaint at that time had to do with parking. A new concrete parking pad for two vehicles was added this year at street level. Now the place is absolutely perfect! (There is additional parking for four other vehicles 10 feet or so below street level, but let me warn you that unless you have 4 wheel drive and probably chains, parking below in the winter will be a disaster! This parking area is great in the summer, but be warned about winter lower level parking. If you have more than two cars in the winter, plan on parking the autos without 4 wheel drive elsewhere, or be prepared to have them pulled out.) Better yet, bring only 2 cars and you will have NO complaints.
We have been going to Big Bear for over 15 years and we love it beyond description. When we are there in the winter, we love winter best. When we are there in the summer, we love summer best. We have stayed in a number of different houses in Big Bear, but none of them compared to this one. It is absolutely magical in both the summer and the winter. In the summer you will spend endless happy hours relaxing on the dock (and no, we do not fish.) In the winter, it is great fun to walk out to the end of the dock for a few minutes, but normally it is too cold to stay for long. The deck is equally fabulous in the summer, but you will find that you will use it quite a bit in the winter too ? we grilled most nights in both the summer and the winter. Even in the winter we would go out on the deck to just absorb the stunning beauty of the area. The hot tub is great in the winter or summer, in both snow and rain, preferably with a delicious martini or glass of wine.
The 360 fireplace in the sunken area of the living room was blazing constantly through both of our winter stays. It is an absolutely perfect place for reading in both winter and summer, looking out over the amazing lake views. (The lakeside of the living room drops down about a foot and has a window seating area.) Nothing could be more cozy on a snowy winter day or a beautiful, bright summer day.
My husband is an architect and we both enjoyed the soaring cathedral ceilings, architectural detail and woodwork immensely. He is also an amazing pool player, and while we both enjoyed the pool table, it is not the best pool table on the planet.
My only suggestion is that the fourth visit should be free!
My Response
Thank you for your wonderful review. We are in the process of completely redoing the kitchen (new cabinets, appliances, etc.). We are also installing radiant heat on the main floor and covering the entire floor with Italian porcelain tile. In addition, we are also enlarging and totally redoing the master bath. I think that you will be very pleasantly surprised on your next visit.

To say that the views from this home are magnificent is an understatement. The photos simply do not do it justice. We spent 5 marvelous days at Lakefront Fisherman?s Paradise, but our stay was far too short. We spent hours just sitting on the deck and on the dock. The dock extends far into the lake and is like being on a boat.
Our sons, who were not fishermen before, fished for hours every day. We had two delicious trout dinners?and, yes, fresh fish really are better.
The hot tub is huge and beautiful and its location on the lake is unbelievable. Sitting in the hot tub with a glass of wine is an experience not to be missed.
The house is a home, really comfortable and spacious. It was fully equipped and has everything that one could want or need. Since everyone could use the half bath on the second floor, no one had to traipse through our bedroom. The third floor also has a full bath that is entered off of the upstairs playroom. The Direct TV was great.
There are two things that are needed to make the place perfect. The dock should have some sort of umbrella or cover. The kitchen is complete and fully equipped (with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and dishwasher), but it could use a little updating. We cooked all of our meals at the house, a great savings for a family, but the restaurants in the charming village look very inviting. Maybe next time we will force ourselves to leave our lovely retreat and try them out.
The weather was warm and perfect, but we cannot wait to come back in the snow. We most definitely will come back. (I probably should not post this review because it may be hard to get in when we want to come back!)
My Response
Thank you for the wonderful review. We intend to totally redo the kitchen, with new cabinets, appliances, etc., so the kitchen should become an additional focal point of the house. So happy that you enjoyed your time in Big Bear!

This cabin was everything it advertised. It was perfect for our family of 6. My kids even loved the not so functioning foosball table. They had hours of fun on it simply because of its deficit. They said it made it more fun. The views are incredible and we fished and swam for hours off the private dock. We were sad that there were no water toys, (the only reason why I didn't give 5 stars, but I know it's for liability reasons) like kayaks or paddle boards, but were lucky enough to befriend the neighbors who loaned us theirs. We also rented a pontoon boat from Pleasure Point Marina. There is another marina where you can rent kayaks from just the next cove over, but it's super expensive. The owner was very kind and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again but next time we will bring our boat and other toys! Highly recommend this place.

My Response
I was very pleased with the positive comments in the review, but disappointed with the 4 stars. I do not believe that any of the private homes in Big Bear Lake offer such toys. The liability issue makes providing such amenities impossible.

We really enjoyed our stay at your Lakefront house. The views from everywhere were amazing and the amenities were first rate.
My young sons enjoyed playing pool in the man cave although would have like to see the foosball table operational and would like to see you trade the VCR in for a DVD player! Upon returning to Big Bear, we would certainly desire to stay in your beautiful house as our number one choice.

My Response
Thank you for the great review. I am so sorry that you could not find the DVD player. Apparently a prior guest moved it into the upstairs bedroom closet. We have a high definition DVD player, and it is connected in the master bedroom. There is a VCR in the basement in case any one needs it. We not only have the DVD but we also have a 55" smart TV in the living room that gets all of the premium channels and it also gets Netflex! All of our TV's (3 flat screens with HD and one antique color TV in the basement) receive all of the premium channels. I look forward to your next visit.

Another review.
This house is amazing! I came here for a few friends for a birthday weekend and we had an absolutely wonderful time. The location is perfect, sitting in a hot tub overlooking the lake was pretty great, and we loved the indoor fireplace. Joe was incredibly helpful and easy to work with throughout the process. You'll love your time spent here.

Let me start by saying Joe is an amazing guy. Was always on top of things, answered any question I might have and goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is great. Now on to the house. In one word GREAT! It starts first with a great location. Tucked away on a nice little cove. We thought this weekend was going to be busy with lots of people on the lake, but where the house is, even if it was busy, you are out of the rat race. The house is a very nice house. First thing you see when you walk in is a amazing view, big windows greet you with a beautiful view of the lake. It is a older house but with recent renovations to the first floor Kitchen and Master Bath (That shower is amazing!) you have great amenities. It is a 3 bedroom house, with extra fourth bedroom in the basement (That has a queen bed, a day bed, and a bathroom) so the house slept 8 people very easily. In talking with Joe, he is continuing to improve on the house, so you can see that he cares about his property. We had all of the things we needed to cook, and clean up. The hot tub was clean and worked great. The dock was one of the nicer docks in the area. And the FISHING on the dock was awesome. We did better catching trout off the dock then we did on our guided boat trip. Overall we really enjoyed out trip and would have no problem renting this house again! In fact I think we are already planning our next trip.

I first visited Lakefront Fisherman's Paradise just before Christmas last year. I attended a friend's party there, but did not stay overnight. I was so enchanted with the place, we made a reservation to return this June.
I could not believe the changes that the owners made. I thought that the old kitchen was perfectly acceptable, even nice, but the new kitchen is mind blowing. The photos do not do it justice! The cabinets are magnificent and the stainless steel appliances are beautiful. The upper cabinets were removed from the living room side and the lakefront side, making the spectacular lake view even more pronounced. The cooks in the kitchen are now in the middle of the party; not cut off. I have never had more fun cooking!
I was not in the old master bath, but I could live in the new one. The shower has 3 body sprays, an overhead rain shower and a hand held shower. They can all be used together or separately. There is a bench, so you can relax completely. You never have to reset the temperature after your first shower. I asked Joe, the owner, about the fixtures and he told me they were Hansgrough. My daughter-in-law is a decorator and she told me that the fixtures are only used in the most luxurious homes.
The other reviews cover the wonderful views, dock, amenities, decks, etc, and all I can add is that I would have been even more effusive in my descriptions. All of your troubles simply melt away while relaxing on the deck or the dock.
Are there any negatives? Yes. We were there with 4 other couples. The three couples in the three bedrooms were as comfortable as in a 5 star hotel. Two of the couples, however, had to sleep in the basement playroom. This room is very large with a sleeping alcove on one end and a trundle on the other end, with pool table, TV, and couches in the middle. While the two couples loved the place and had absolutely no complaints, I would not have liked the lack of privacy. The basement/playroom is a perfect place for kids, for same sex people, or couples under 40. For a single couple or a couple with their own kids, it would be perfect.
The place was immaculate, and Joe, the owner, could not have been more helpful.
I cannot conceive of a more beautiful, more comfortable, or more fun place to stay in Big Bear Lake than this home. I can?t wait to go back.
My Response
Thank you for the excellent review. We can't wait for you to come back! I would like to point out that the sleeping areas in the basement\playroom are so far apart, with the pool table between them, that there is sense of privacy. That being said, the bed rooms are definitely nicer.

Loved staying here! We rented out the property with some friends for the weekend and had a great time. Listing description and photos are very accurate. The cabin has a nice upgraded kitchen and a lovely master bath--awesome waterfall shower! Joe always responded back quickly and very easy to work with. He was nice enough to allow us to have an early check in and late check out as well. The location is great and has a beautiful view. Would definitely stay here again!

Joe was a great host, stayed in communication with me and made sure things were easiest as possible. The place was even better than the photos, amazing kitchen, great setup with the fireplace, TV and living room, and great sized beds and all the rooms. The pool table and foosball table weren't in the best condition but nonetheless they were usable and use them we did, was lots of fun. The outside was amazing, we used the grill which had fresh propane, the jacuzzi was in great condition and was literally cleaned the day we got there being the spa company was there when we arrived, and the lake deck was probably one of the better ones in the area. The room at the very bottom floor is one of the hang out spots as the pool table is down there, if thats your sleeping area and its cold outside make sure you bundle up, it get cold and hard to heat up and very likely the hot spot in the summer. The bathroom in the main room was super nice, the room is as well, wake up to the sunny big bear lake day.
The neighborhood is super nice, the houses are more like estates in this area, super lovely. The town is pretty nice as well, we went the weekend of a snow storm, the day we got there is was somewhat warm at 67 degrees so we went for a bike ride, the day after it was 30 and snowing so we went snow boarding, best of both worlds.
Overall I highly recommend staying at lakefront Angler's Paradise, I truly did not want to leave, I am thinking of renting this place again and recommended it to anyone that wants to go to big bear!

Joe was an incredible host. He was readily available via text with any issues that arose and was quick to offer a solution. The house itself was perfect. It was right on the lake with spectacular views. The pictures really don't do it justice. There are large windows looking at the lake, with tons of natural light. The kitchen was up to date and very nice with pretty much everything you need from glasses to an ice machine, to silverware and so forth. We ended up cooking both nights as a group in both the kitchen and the bbq.
The house was away from the craziness of the slopes and town, but only a short 5-10 minute drive to either. It was incredibly nice to just relax around the 360 degree fire place and make s'mores, sit in the hot tub by the lake and look at the stars, and enjoy a game of cards with friends.
We had plans to go snowboarding but it was a bit warmer of a weekend so we just stayed around the house and hung out. Usually I enjoy going out and exploring, but this trip, everyone enjoyed the house so much, we never really left other than to go to the store.
All 9 friends that I had with me agreed that this is a place they will love to stay when they return to Big Bear, and so do I.
I don't think for a group of 10 people, there is a better place to stay. I hope to return soon.

Review by Michele. My family had a memorable Thanksgiving weekend at the lake front house. The house provided plenty of space and privacy for 5 adults and 3 kids. I am amazed how well stocked the house is with linen, kitchen and bathroom supplies, very considerate and generous of the host. The house is very cozy and comfortable. Both adults and kids were entertained by having a private dock, game tables and a large TV on a swinging arm. Joe was fantastic with the booking process. Book this house and make your own memory!

What Michele thought you could improve about the experience:
I suggest to update your photos as the house has so many features not highlighted in the profile such as the large TV on swinging arm, new dining furniture, better pics of the beautiful kitchen, master bedroom with lake view, gorgeous master bath, and gas fire pit on the deck.

I rented this house for my husband's 60th birthday. I had never been to Big Bear but I could not have picked a more perfect setting. Our entire family fit perfectly 10 adults and children. 3 bedrooms and a large downstairs room with 2 beds that fit the couple with children. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. Beautiful view of the lake with a dock to fish off of and awesome BBQ grill on the deck. Really close to town for grocery runs. I wanted to take home the shower in the master bedroom home with me. We sat out on the deck at night and watched the sun go down. The artificial turf was also a great add on ground level. Joe was very easy to work with. Would definitely do it again.

The Lakefront Fisherman's Paradise was fantastic! As other reviewers stated, the pictures online do not do the house (or the views) justice! Seven of us stayed at the house for 5 days and there was plenty of room and nobody felt crowded. The fireplace with the recessed seating area was one of the more popular places in the house during our December stay. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the house was stocked -- everything you need in the kitchen (seriously, everything - coffee pot, blenders, strainers, bottle openers, dishes, cleaning supplies, grilling utensils, pots, pans, trash bags, etc.), plenty of extra blankets and towels, extra propane for the grill, even a snow shovel and bags of salt for the outdoor walk ways. Nice big TV in the living room with premium and music channels and WiFi in the house. The hot tub has to be one of the best private outdoor tubs I have been in and was wonderful to soak in after a day of skiing, although walking from the tub into the house in 10 degree (F) weather is super difficult (the tub is not on the deck, but rather a very short distance from the downstairs door). The grill on the deck was wonderful, and I "think" it even had a rotisserie option. The master bathroom shower was great. Even though there is another older shower/tub upstairs, everyone used the master bathroom shower -- it was much more up-to-date and comfortable (the low ceiling beam at the far end of the upstairs shower may be an issue for taller people). You do have to haul your trash to the city dumpsters about one mile away on the main boulevard. In the winter, there are only two parking spaces and the only place to legally (?) park an extra car overnight was near the village just a few miles away. We did that and our third car was completely fine. The bottom floor bedroom did get cold (it was December), but there was a space heater and extra blankets, so it wasn't too bad for sleeping. The description and the reviews all state that the pool table and foosball table are in rough shape; that is definitely true! Honestly, though, with all the hiking, skiing, and hanging out relaxing in the big living room, none of us actually played on any of the tables so it wasn't really a big deal. Also, Joe, the owner/manager, was super friendly and super accessible via email with any and all questions I had leading up to and during our stay. My family and I cannot wait to go back!

Joel is an awesome owner. We loved our stay at his amazing property which boasts many extras. I am extremely PICKY about our family rentals and now with a baby even more so. Things we loved- WONDERFUL views, great BBQ, fantastic kitchen & equipment, great refrig & ice maker,high-end micro & stove, cookware, plenty of trash bags & detergent, giant TV & Direct TV with ALL the channels, flat screens in upstairs bedrooms, upgraded linens, tons of plush towels, shampoo, soaps & conditioners, washer & dryer with detergent, bleach & stain remover, tons of cleaners & tools if you like to clean like I do. I include all these notes as I'm never sure if I need to bring all this STUFF. Each floor has bathrooms which is so nice. The Master is attached and awesome. The laundry room (main floor) has its own toilet and sink, upstairs bedrooms share a full bath with a tub and basement a toilet and sink. The hot tub runs constantly so you can jump in at anytime of the day or night. Having the turf was really nice for our dog to run on a cable and our baby loved crawling around on the soft surface. The extra parking is so important when you have 4 cars that need to come and go. Walking in the neighborhood is refreshing and beautiful. Walking to town is possible but has a small shoulder on the road. The trash issue is no big deal. What we did was pack our extra items in a Rubbermaid tote then add the daily tall trash bags filled and stored overnight with the lid tight so no animals would tear into the bags. Daily we drove the bags to the dumpster area. Worked GREAT. We spent lots of time on the beautiful dock overlooking the lake having cocktails in the shade of the afternoon watching the boats and fish jump non stop. Swimming & fishing so fun! Every evening meal was eaten at the house. The BBQ is very over-sized and has a great light that signs right on top of the grill. Joel has extra bottles of Propane so you will never run out. The large glass table for dining has windows surrounding it so you have the entire lake to view. Clean up was extra easy with the dishwasher and off to the huge sofa for dessert and TV time. If you go in the winter the fireplace would be unbelievable to sit around! I know Joel has lots of plans for the basement and Master bedroom and I can't wait to go back again. We felt we got every dollar worth for this rental. I hope Joel does post new photos when he finishes. You will LOVE your stay with this thoughtful owner! Thank you Joel:)

My Response
I cannot thank you enough for this wonderful review. The importance of good reviews cannot be overestimated. I would like to point out that the cleaning crew told me that they had never been in a home in such immaculate condition after a guest?s stay ? especially after a large party stayed an entire week. YOU are awesome and I look forward to your next visit!

Lakefront Fisherman's Paradise is just like our home except we are not 7000 up in the air on the country's most beautiful lake. Our stay was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Thank you, thank you, thank you for creating such an incredible and accommodating home. We felt like the home was ours and the Lake was there just for our own private pleasure and enjoyment. Everyone agreed we are coming back next year. We made memories that will last forever! Joe, you obviously spend an enormous amount of time and effort on your home, but why don?t you invest in a professional photographer so people can see what a magnificent place you have? Most of the pictures that you have are terrible! A professional photographer could highlight your ?Architectural Digest? kitchen and master bath. The custom made dining table should also be featured. We have been coming to Big Bear at least once a year for the last 10 years. This place is by far the most beautiful, fun place we have stayed in. For the first time, we did not leave the house for our entire 4 day trip to Big Bear Lake. Except for one Pizza delivery, we cooked all of our meals at home. (I want that grill!) We had friends staying about a block away, and, because of the low lake level, their dock was unusable. This dock is wonderful. It extends far into the lake and you would never know that the lake is low. Also, we love the artificial grass in the back. The home is perfect and fully equipped. Having coffee and looking out at beautiful Big Bear Lake every morning was amazing! My family can't stop talking about how great their stay was and how beautiful/clean the home was. Everything was as advertised - stunning setting, great owners, everything worked perfectly. You have a beautiful and very comfortable home. Thank you again for sharing it.
