Picture yourself sitting in the private, fenced, tree-shaded courtyard of a charming and historic miner’s home located just a 4-minute walk from Main Street.

What could be more relaxing?

The Toland Adobe has 2 cozy adjoining bedrooms (queen beds) furnished for comfort with quality linens, and a bath with a new custom walk-in shower. The living room contains a futon sleeper (new mattress in 2015) for additional sleeping accommodations. The house sleeps a maximum of 6.

Ready to take a break from sight-seeing? The house boasts a flat-screen TV, basic cable, and a DVD/VHS player. Plus, you’ll find a CD player and an iPod docking station.

Want to stream video, listen to Pandora, or play on-line games? With our unlimited wifi, you are free to use the internet just as you would at home. There's a Roku box so you can listen to Pandora or use your Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon accounts.

The original adobe structure has been modified and upgraded through the years. Its comfortable lounge areas and vaulted bead board ceilings will encourage you to kick back and relax. Over 200 DVDs and gobs of books line the living room shelves. Make yourself at home.

Because we want you to be comfortable year-round, the house has both a mini-split heating/cooling system and a separate window a/c unit in the front bedroom. We also have rolling evaporative cooling units, just in case. But we’re talking Bisbee, not Phoenix. Bisbee has the best weather in Arizona.

If you enjoy cooking, you’ll love having everything you need to prepare great meals: the kitchen is well-equipped with quality pots and pans, sharp knives and numerous small appliances. We love to cook! You’ll love the outdoor eating area with its gas BBQ, too.

Worried about running out of clean clothes? We provide an indoor laundry room with full-sized washer/dryer.

Looking for something unique? The Toland Adobe is on the National Register of Historic Places and was once owned by one of Teddy Roosevelt’s Roughriders, Jesse Toland!

The Toland Adobe is reached via just a few wide/deep steps (no stairway) that ascend into a secluded garden courtyard, from which there is a partial view of the mountains. The yard is private (not shared) and is completely fenced -- perfect for those who like to spend time outside in a romantic setting and also handy for those with children and dogs. Enjoy the security of a locked gate and your own front door code.

Imagine the freedom you’ll feel sitting on the patio, reading a novel while the children and dogs play nearby. The owners have 8 grandchildren and are dog lovers who want to ensure kids and dogs are comfortable and safe. That can be hard to find in Bisbee, but with its garden courtyard outside, and hardwood and tile floors inside, the Toland Adobe is both kid- and dog-friendly.

We make things simple for moms by providing both a portable playpen/crib and a high-chair.

You’ll love how convenient the location is to downtown, yet how nice it is to escape to a peaceful home once you’re ready to relax.

The Toland Adobe has on-street parking, with even more parking in the free city lot nearby.

We know you want lodging reservations to be simple and easy. That’s why we have automated our reservation process to be entirely online. But, we can accommodate snail mail and personal checks (usually), too.

Whether you’re renting for a weekend or for the season, you’ll want to find the best possible place. And you’ve found it: a great location, a sweet house, and a private yard.

What more compelling reason do you need to choose The Toland Adobe?

We had a delightful stay. Everything was even better than described. The location was excellent; beds very comfortable. Lots of surprising elements such as the lights that came on in the evening to show the way from the house down the short path to the gate. And the town of Old Bisbee was filled with interesting buildings and houses. We never realized that it would be so colorful and unique.

Absolutely Wonderful Stay!

Our time at Toland Adobe was just perfect. The homeowner kept in amazing touch with us before we even arrived making check in so simple. Parking was convenient, but even more convenient was how simple it was to walk EVERYWHERE within the historic district: shopping, jeep tours, mine museum, mine tour, coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The kitchen is stocked with anything you might need to prepare meals and later store the leftovers, but with all the wonderful local eats, we simply had our meals out. There is a lovely front patio area to enjoy Bisbee's perfect weather. Bisbee was our last vacation stop and the first 'home' we stayed in, so the access to a washer and dryer (and the needed supplies) was a welcome sight. The wifi was strong. There is a fantastic collection of DVDs covering every genre to choose from and a very extensive library collection if you aren't too worn out from walking up and down the hill town. I had need to contact the owner during my stay, and she was so responsive. You can tell this is a true home away from home for the owners, and I feel blessed to have been able to enjoy this rental for 3 nights/4 days. For anyone trying to gauge how long to stay...I had two full days in Bisbee and wish it had been closer to 4. we spent one full day in Tombstone (30 minutes away) and wish I had another day there too to visit some of the other museums. Even the amazing Chiricahua national monument is only 1 1/2 hours away (loved our Heart of Rocks hike). In a binder the owners provided is a list of things to do with additional day trip ideas that could easily have kept us comfortably in place for a week or two. A few of our favorite tasty spots: margaritas and chips on the outside deck of Contessa's Cantina, breakfast at High Desert Market (we were unimpressed with the Breakfast Club), tangerine lemonade and cookies at cafe cornucopia, every bite at the Stock Exchange, and coffee, coffee, coffee at the Bisbee coffee company. One thing I wish I had known about that Bisbee offers, so I could have researched it better, is the '1000 step challenge' an approximate 4 mile jaunt using many of Bisbee's staircase. Bisbee's visitors center had no single source of info with a map, so I would have brought that with me for the fun of it. Have a great time in Bisbee and enjoy the comforts of coming home to Toland Adobe at the end of your day!

Charming, Clean and Comfortable!

I had a wonderful time at this Bisbee home. It's hard to find rentals in Bisbee that don't have a ton of stairs, so that's an added bonus! I have rented several homes around the country in the past few years, and this one is my favorite. It's private fenced yard with comfortable seating is great for hanging out. The queen beds are very comfortable. The kitchen has everything needed to cook meals. The house is very charming, super clean, and historical yet has modern conveniences such as wifi, a flat screen tv and hundreds of DVDs -- just as advertised.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How far is your vacation rental from downtown Old Bisbee?
A: We are in a residential neighborhood just 4 minutes from the heart of downtown (near the coffee shop and post office).
Q: How long have you been renting your vacation rental?
A: We have rented solidly for nearly four years. During that time, we have made lots of improvements and have gotten to know Bisbee a lot better. We have also made friends in Bisbee and have friends who were once our renters.
Q: Do people rent your house for a month at a time? If so, who?
A: We get month-long renters every winter -- people escaping the snow in Wisconsin, Ohio, Canada, etc. We also get month-long renters from Phoenix and Tucson in the summer because the summer climate in Bisbee is much cooler since we're at 5000 feet.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Bisbee?
A: We love to go to local events: plays, performances, open houses, etc. We also love to walk our dogs all over town, and we especially love hanging out on our patio (since the entire yard has a high fence and the dogs can be outside with us and not on a leash).
Q: Why Bisbee?
A: We came here in 2012 because we'd heard about Bisbee from a friend and had also read about Bisbee in J. A. Jance's novels. We bought in Bisbee because we fell in love with the town.
Q: Do you like renting out your vacation rental home? Why?
A: Yes, we LOVE renting out our home. We have had many dozens of renters in the house in the past 4 years and have never had a bad experience. All of our reviews are 5-star. The whole process of communicating with renters, answering questions, and helping them (sometimes even referring them to other rentals) is really a lot of fun. Yeah, it is work, too, because we treat this like a business (this is not a hobby; we are serious about scheduling, marketing, maintenance, etc.). We want every rental experience to go well for our guests.
