Reviews for this vacation cabin rental in Black Mountain, North Carolina
November 3, 2014
We have stayed at Cabin in the clouds 5 years now. As always it was relaxing and our home away from home. We thank Larry and Barbara for sharing this beautiful cabin. The leaves were breath taking. The weather perfect. We will be back.
Cabin in the Clouds

The cabin itself was cozy, warm and romantic. The view was breath-taking from the back deck. We saw a beautiful sunrise and several sunsets. One could count at least eight mountain ranges and see more with binoculars. One morning a thick cloud enveloped the cabin. The gas log fireplace made it most romantic. The rooms were spacious and the accommodations were very comfortable. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen. This was one of our most enjoyable vacations and we look forward to returning again.

just one complaint. There needs to be more light over the kitchen table. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We would stay there again.

Cabin in the Clouds - Black Mountain, NC
July 19, 2014
My wife and I spent 6 nights at Cabin in the Clouds as a sort of retirement celebration after 33 years at the same company. We loved the mountains the seclusion in the quaint little town of Black Mountain. The views were spectacular from the cabin deck where one evening we watched a thunderstorm blow him over the mountains. The furnishings were adequate and comfortable however I do wish there had been a washer and dryer. At most vacation cabins where we stayed we had a washer and dryer. And especially since there was no washer and dryer, there needed to have been more towels and washcloths we ran low and had no way of washing them ourselves. We loved the restaurants in Blackmountain as well as in Asheville and surrounding areas. We drove to Hot Springs, NC one day and hiked a portion of the Appalachian Trail... that was spectacular. Also the hiking on Mount Mitchell was excellent. We drove two days to get to Blackmountain and two days to return to Oklahoma and we would do it again...it was well worth it...a great trip.
We are glad the Talley's enjoyed their stay and hope they will come again. Our house keepers try to make sure there are plenty of linens for the length of the stay. If our guests need anything PLEASE call or email, we will do whatever we can to make your stay one that you want to repeat and will certainly be glad to provide additional linens.

"Holiday in Heaven"

My husband and I decided to stay in one place on this vacation instead of traveling, and had never rented a cabin before. We were so pleased with the cabin, the view is truly "Gods Country" and all the comforts from home tucked away in the mountains. We hope to experience Black Mountain and this cabin again and again. This was a BEAUTIFUL home!! The view was truly "in the Clouds". Just the right amount of space for three adults. Loved the expandable mattress in the sofa. The owner was AWESOME so attentive and easy to work with. The cabin was also VERY clean. The town of Black Mt. was a joy to visit with all of it's local artists and antique stores. Will definitely go back.
Beautiful, peaceful, relaxing cabin in the mnts

This is such a beautiful house on the mountain side surrounded by trees--from the back porch is a spectacular view of the mountains and city of Black Mountain. There are plenty of windows which open and right outside of most of them (except for the windows onto the back porch) are lots of trees. It is a quiet and mostly secluded place (hardly any road traffic as the cabin is tucked away in a little mountain community way in the back of the subdivision so that not many cars pass by it); there is one neighbor whose home can be seen, to the left of the cabin as it faces the outlying valley, yet I have only heard people there during a few days on my stay and not at all the first time I stayed at the place. The kitchen is well-equipped and nothing which I can think of to be wanting. The gas fireplace is easy to manage and provides a pleasant atmosphere. The owners of the house, Larry and Barbara Finney are very pleasant and nice people whom are easily assessable by phone or email; I have contacted them a few times about some minor things (such as when I didn't have a cell phone plan and was wondering if there was a number which other people can use to call me at the cabin), and they have always been very prompt at returning my calls if I had to leave a message and always amiable in their answers to me. I never felt I was bothering them with anything. What I love the most is the atmosphere of the place. It is just so warm, cozy, and inviting--especially on cold winter days. One trivial little detail which I just love is how there is an indoor thermometer which tells the outside temperature--it was neat to watch the numbers keep dropping, yet how there was still much warmth inside. The town of Montreat is a few miles away from the cabin. I would definitely visit there if not anywhere else (though I'm sure there are many nice places to visit in nearby Asheville as well). There are many wonderful trails if you enjoy hiking and can spend lots of hours there. That place has an indescribable peace about it. The architecture of the little community is also beautiful. I hope this will be a place which will be available for a long time to come as it can offer such an amazing and memorable time to all those who have had the kind grace of being led to stay at this wonderful little cabin. Thank you so much for allowing me to stay at your cabin, Larry and Barbara Finney--I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it!

The view was incredible! We had a wonderful weekend in Black Mtn. and Cabin in the Clouds was the perfect place to stay! Wonderful accomodations! We loved sitting on the porch and watching the sun set over the mountains!

Our stay was fantastic! Let me just start by saying the view was magnificent! The interior of the cabin was immaculate, comfortable and equipped with everything a person could need. Downtown Black Mountain is very close by and full of neat little shops and cafes. I recommend staying a few nights so you can check out all that nearby Ashevile has to offer as well. Scenic, romantic, cozy - a perfect getaway!

A weekend get-a-way - A magnificent view
October 11, 2011
A perfect fall weekend, weather wise, early leaf change and the perfect cabin. What more needs to be said. Our first visit was in the summer and we had a weekend with low humidity and we were able to open the windows. This time we used no heat, no air, just Mother Nature and lots of blankets. In the evening we did use the fireplace for some ambience. Don't expect to be staying at "The Ritz". This cabin is up-to-date in the kitchen, with the basics and the living room area is pleasant and inviting. The bed is very comfortable with a magnificent view. If you want to spend time watching the t.v. the lower channels on the cable get distorted. You will not be disappointed. We will be going back again!

Comfortable cabin, well furnished and an incredible view from deck! Great place to have your morning coffee. Could have better lighting in bedroom, difficult for 2 people to read in bed. Enjoyed hearing the train come by a few times a day as well.

Great little cabin!

My new husband and I enjoyed relaxing at the cabin very much. Note that in the middle of summer growth, the mountain view is pretty limited from the porch. And the pictures led us to believe there were 2 accessible decks, when really only 1 is available. Thank you for providing all of the amenities - very nice for a getaway.

We had a wonderful time staying at the cabin. It is convenient to so many things (Asheville, Chimney Rock, Mt. Mitchell, etc.) and we will certainly be staying again in the future!

Very nice cabin. Inside was up to date, roomy for two, and in good location. View was really nice. Only thing that could be better would be a new updated larger tub in the bathroom and heat pump kept blowing cool air one minute and then warm the next. Very reasonable price and would consider staying again.

We went here for the first time this month is it was spectacular!! Everything was so clean and cozy. The views are so beautiful and relaxing. The bed was super comfy and inviting. They also have all the extras we needed from plastic wrap to take home our leftovers to coffee and cream and sugar in the morning. We will DEFINATELY come back and would recommend this to anyone that just needs to "get away" :)
