Fabulous Winter Stay

June 12, 2014

Recommended for anyone wanting a great pool and sun bathed winter! We loved the home, the colors are bright, and it is decorated like a home, not like a rental. It is very comfortable. The backyard is where I spent most of my time, as my friends back home battled ice and cold, I listened to the breeze rustle the variety of palm trees in the backyard. It's very peaceful, and yet close to everything - great restaurants, mall, and Whole Foods! Not to mention that my husband and I bought bicycles, and rode to the beach or on the trails that you can take right from the house. The owners are great to work with, and there was never a problem in all of the 4 months we were there. Thanks again, Ted and Kathy, and we hope to see you again soon!!

October 20, 2013

Things have obviously changed remarkably since the last reviews. We stayed at the house for 2 months and we must say, not only the interior is in a shabby state. The way the owner Cathy handled the situation was more than poor. In addition she in the end kept parts of the deposit without having the authority. She replaced with our money her six-year-old already damaged parasole (that had been broken by storm during our stay) by a new luxury model instead of keeping the actual cash value. She did not send any bill or proof for the insurance and has never reacted anymore. We informed vacationhomerentals. On our arrival we found the fridge full of old food someone had left, hair and dirt in the bathrooms, dead cockroaches under the furniture. The windows were dirty and any dish we took out had food rests on it - the house just had poorly been cleaned (given that there is a 100$ cleaning fee to pay!). After a couple of days we discovered the pillows inside the sheets - they appeared to be dark yellowish brownish pieces of cloth that have obviously never been washed in years. An insult to any guest that sleeps on it confidently without knowing! Disgusting! Having asked the owner Cathy to please send a cleaning lady, she first had many contradictory apologizes but then wrote us, "we shouldn´t expect luxury". Well, no - but I think cleanness in a rental home is not luxury but basic requirement! In the end she sent someone to clean explicitly only the windows (which was definitely not the most important thing). The comment of HER window washer who also had to get behind some furniture: "I´m working in that business for years but I´ve never seen such a dirty rental home!" Just to complete our impression: On the shabby and dirty sofa as well as on the old carpeted floor you feel like better avoiding to sit or tap with bare skin. The bed linen have seen decades, they were ripped (up to 10 inches), without buttons, and for five beds there was not a single replacement sheet or linen for change. The conglomeration of old bath towels was either blotched, ripped or faded. Under the childrens´ bed the owner keeps his collection of oldest shoes. Furniture is partly really battered. We spent about a week to bring this neglected house into basically acceptable conditions in order to somehow feel at home for 2 months. The only thing that really kept us up was the wonderful garden. Unfortunately we can only give the advice: Beware!

Just like home

November 9, 2011

Our family of five, including two teenagers and a tween, rented this lovely home for two months while our new home was being renovated. Kathy and Ted had everything in the home that we needed while our personal belongings were in storage. The location was perfect to get to shopping, the beach and schools. The yard and pool were well maintained weekly and everything in the house was in perfect working order. It always felt like "home" with a charming decor. Allowing our pets to stay with us was a saving grace. They loved the fenced in yard as much as the kids did. Kathy was very flexible as our rental dates were ever changing with our construction schedule changes. which was a huge bonus. I would definitely recommend this home for a short term rental! It was a pleasure working with Kathy and Ted and the home was perfect for our family.

A Terrific Find

April 1, 2011

Our stay at this house was all we hoped for and more. The website descriptions are truthful and the photos are a good representation but the house is even better in person. There's a charming European flavor to the place, especially the private backyard. Supplywise, we did not want for anything. The kitchen was well stocked, we had internet access, on cooler mornings we had breezes through easy-to-open windows, and efficient air conditioning when needed. The location is outstanding. It is near everything and yet you would never know it because it is tucked away. In addition to the closeness of the beach, shopping and restaurants, there is a playground in great condition and walk/bike trail alongside the canal, all within walking distance. My favorite part was the pool area. It is private with beautiful plants abounding and birds singing, the kids' play area is great, and our dog liked having his own fenced yard to sniff around in and chase an occasional little lizard. The pool is a real advantage. It is heated and has an automatic vacumming system so it was always clean. Most importantly, the homeowner was readily available to answer questions or take care of any problems. An example of this was that the bar-b-q hose had broken. The next day their friend came to check it out and ended up replacing it with a new one -- just like that! I highly recommend this home to anyone -- just don't plan to go in February because we're going back!

Fantastic vacation!!!

March 6, 2011

This house is extreamly kids friendly! Our 3-year-old practicly lived in the pool, and the house is filled with toys. Happy kids gives very happy parents. Quiet and peaceful neighbourhood. Private garden with a fantastic pool. Only a short drive to stores and the beach. We stayed for 4 weeks and had the best vacation. Several times a week our son still says: I don't want to be here in Sweden - I want to be in Florida! Thank you so much for letting us rent this beautiful Florida home!

Great location for a relaxing visit.

May 19, 2010

We stayed at this home in early April of 2010 for a week and had a great experience. Kathy and Ted were great. They let us know about all the local beaches and parks. The pool at this house is great. Overall, I highly recommended this place for a family who want to get some great South Florida sun in.
