About the area

Boiling Springs is located in Dutch Country, Pennsylvania, USA. It offers spectacular scenery, a theatre and other local events. It was founded in 1845 as a village surrounding the Children's Lake, right on the Appalachian Trail. The Memorial Clock Tower, erected in 1956 and the Boiling Springs Mill, on record as early as 1785, are two landmarks in the village. Boiling Springs was also a site for the underground railroad before the civil war, a tourist destination in the early 1900's and a stop along the Appalachian Trail. It is now a location for quaint shops, some art galleries and a wonderful restaurant. Overall, it offers a small town feeling and relaxation and tranquility away from larger city life. The Allenberry Play House is the famous resort owned and operated by the Heinz family. The Historic Allenberry staged their first play in 1948 and has continued throughout the years with class and elegance. One of the America's most historic landmarks, The Gettysburg Battlefield, is located only half an hours drive from the Creek Cottage. “Great Get Away!”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2015

We stayed at the Cottage Creek because we were looking for a quiet house rental in PA within proximity of both Hershey Park and Dutch Wonderland as we planned to visit the parks with our 5 year old son. We also have 3 little dachshunds that we did not want to leave behind. The Cottage Creek far exceeded our expectations! The house was clean and spacious. The owners are very gracious in that they gave us access to so many other bonus amenities (such as the paddle boats, pool table, board games, etc.) The setting for the cottage is beautiful and serene. The street is quiet and was a perfect place for my son to practice using his bicycle. All the neighbors that we met were friendly. I would highly recommend this place for anyone. My family and I enjoyed it and look forward to staying there again sometime.

Owner's reply: So happy you enjoyed your stay! Thanks for the review. Susan

“Beautiful house, wonderful amenities!”

I decided to rent this house for my wedding. I had 5 bridesmaids and my mother and mother-in-law that needed a place to get ready and due to close proximity to my venue, I decided this was a much better option than a cramped hotel room! The house had plenty of room for everyone to get ready, and even with the photographer, 2 hairstylists and a makeup artist in the house, it did not feel cramped! It's right on the creek, and I was finding myself disappointed that we didn't have time to use all the outdoor equipment provided. Although this house is only about an hour away from my house, the location of this property makes you feel like you are far away on vacation! It's packed full of everything you need, and the owner was incredible to work with. I can't say enough good things about the rapid communication and the way she went above and beyond to make sure my day was special. We have been discussing coming back to this property for our one year anniversary, it's perfect!

“Quiet location - perfect for graduation week at Di”

Reviewed 21 May 2015

We had a great time at this home/cottage for 4 days while attending our daughter's graduation at Dickinson. It is a beautiful setting by Yellow Breeches Creek -- so if you like to canoe, boat, fish -- perfect. Boiling Springs is a great little town with several superb places to eat. Grocery store there and the Appalachian Trail goes right through so good biking and hiking right there. The owner was great and really accommodating during the entire stay given some family issues we were having. I would no doubt return there. May be harder for folks older and not real mobile since the upstairs does have a very steep set of stairs to the area that sleeps 2 to 4. Downstairs master bedroom was great and smaller bedroom with 2 small singles also downstairs very nice. Has many perks like On Demand TV and Movies so we caught up on a season of our favorite TV shows during one rainy day. Enjoy -- we did!

Owner's reply: I am glad you had a great time Peter! Yes indeed, the upstairs bedroom is most appropriate for younger family members as the stairs are somewhat steep! But plenty of bedroom space downstairs. Regards, Susan

“Quiet and Convienent”

The location of this place was perfect. It's just a mile or so east of the little village of Boiling Springs with the creek right behind the house. Perfect little deck to enjoy your morning coffee or dinner. The little convenience store and grocery have all the basics that you need but you're literally minutes from Mechanisburg or Carlise if you need a bigger shopping experience. It was a half hour trip to Gettysburg or Hershey, 1 1/2 hrs to DC. They had fishing equipment for the kids to use and life jackets with a paddle boat and canoes right there by the water. Basket ball hoop, games and an old pool table for extra entertainment. There were plenty of dishes and cooking utensils. I will say plan on keeping elderly or the taller folks on the main floor, the upstairs area was perfect for the kids but kind of awkward for taller or not so limber people to maneuver down. Going up no problem. Plenty of room for everyone to sprawl out. The owners were great to work with and were quick to help out with directions and local info. A special shout out and thank you to their parents who live next door. The dad who just had surgery was a sweetie and got the garbage out before I could get it out there!! My brother really liked the place and thought he would be able to recommend it to guests of his parishioners. Will definitely look this place up when I make it out again! Thank you so much!

It was a great place to relax and my family loved fishing. We loved being close to everything and yet far enough away to relax. We definitely want to stay again sometime.

Owner's reply: So glad you and your family had a wonderful time. This is such a great place for a family vacation!

“great spot to relax”

Reviewed 22 Nov 2012

My husband and I rented this cottage as a place to meet our son and his wife for a few days, to give them a break from hiking the Appalachian Trail. It was perfect! We could relax, cook, relax some more, go into town to the excellent coffee shop, talk, etc. The hikers could rest their weary selves and eat real food (rather than reconstituted at a campsite). Everything was clean and quiet and relaxing. It was just like the pictures show online.

“Great place to stay!”

We visited this summer and the cottage was fantastic! Close enough to enjoy the larger attractions of the area, but tucked away in a place that allowed for rest and relaxation. We would definitely love to come back someday. A charming, welcoming place to visit.

“Kick back and relax”

We had a great week at the Cottage on Yellow Breeches Creek. We enjoyed the deck, peaceful quiet setting, the paddleboat, reading on the deck and swing, sitting on the chairs at our "own" dock, and the big-screen TV. Close to town, but a rural setting.
