Reviews for this vacation cottage rental in Boothbay Harbor, Maine
BEWARE OF THIS WOMAN
June 25, 2014
She stole our deposit! Hard to believe that the person described in the other reviews is one and the same. I've rented properties for 30 years and own a rental property myself. Most, including my own property, if not all say "no smoking". In every case I've encountered, all the properties referred to smoking in the units themselves. Understandable, but this owner has a no smoking policy on her entire estate. As soon as we were made aware of this policy it became clear to us that we should look for another rental as neither of us would be very happy with the situation. When we asked for our deposit to be returned we received an offensive response saying "if you can quit for a week, we were welcome to come and stay and that we could go up the street and smoke or down the street and smoke or into town to smoke" and that she, the rental property owner, was "sympathetic to smokers as she had lost her brother to cancer at age 42". Are you kidding me?? The simple solution was to return the deposit and call it a day. The owner could then rent to anyone she chooses and we could find a less intrusive vacation place to stay. I can't help but think, "what goes around, comes around". You should be ashamed of yourself.

Maine Lobster/Clams and New Friends
September 2, 2013
My husband and I spent a lovely week in "the little cottage by the cove". The cottage was adorable. Overlooking the cove with its own little patio, it was delightful. The entire property was well kept. Our cabin was immaculate, as was the kitchen area and shower in the large house.. Everything was great - including the weather! The absolute best part, though, was meeting Nancy and Mac. They are a font of knowledge about the area and the lobster/clam luncheon was incredible! We have never tasted a blueberry pie that could rival the one that Nancy made! All in all it was a wonderful time and we highly recommend this lovely hideaway. Thank you, Mac and Nancy, for your hospitality and for helping us make such great memories of our time in Maine!
Beautiful place on the water

This a terrific place to stay!!!! A very commanding view of Linekin Bay and a town park across the water. There are kayaks and a canoe to use. The cottage has AC as well as heat so no worries there. The cottage is decorated very nicely and the beds are quite comfortable. Nancy and Mac are very nice hosts and were very helpful on places to go. They put on a fabulous lobster dinner with steamers and corn-finishing with a delicious blueberry pie. The location is perfect with the town within a pleasurable walk over a footbridge.

What a wonderful place to spend time. We were in the tiny cottage...it was so charming. Mac and Nancy are excellent hosts, providing information, laughter and good conversation. Another visit is certainly warranted and we will definitely recommend a visit to this perfect setting to friends .

A Perfect Vacation Cottage
August 22, 2012
I recently spent a most delightful month in this cozy cottage on the shore of Linekin Bay. Clean, comfortable, and cheerful, it was my home away from home, overlooking a lovely cove and Nancy's beautiful grounds. Eating all my meals on the covered terrace was a daily delight -- watching ducks and geese, osprey and seagulls, fishermen and lobster boats. Two brand-new kayaks are available for exploration of the bay. The location couldn't have been more ideal: quiet and peaceful, yet only steps away from the harbor and a few minutes' walk into the town of Boothbay Harbor with restaurants, beautiful B&Bs, tour boats, and shops. Mac and Nancy were wonderful hosts, always ready to suggest places to visit or tour, yet giving me all the privacy and space I wanted and needed. They are also experts at putting on delicious lobster feeds. They made my stay comfortable and fun. I highly recommend this vacation cottage and can't wait to return myself.
Eva really became like family to us during her month long stay. I especially enjoyed our walks and talks and showing her the local scenes around the town. She showed great interest in the area hiking all the Boothbay Region Land Trust preserves that are available and had her trail guide handy checking off each one as she went. Her month with us went by all too fast and we are looking forward to her return next season.
