Description of the Boothbay vacation cottage rental
Paradise Cottage is set in lush perennial gardens with woods behind and overlooking Linekin Bay on the ocean in Mid-Coast Maine with your own private beach on a small cove, shared only between our three properties. We are just 3 miles from quaint Boothbay Harbor, yet our unique pastoral location makes us feel sequestered from the bustle of town. You can settle into the ebb and flow of tides, sunrise and sunset, and the harmony of wildlife. The twittering of birds and sloshing of waves are your surround sound. If you open your eyes early you can watch lobster boats slip out in the morning and then see the sunrise gradually work its way down the opposite shore. If the evening is still, listen for the distant tones of fog horns. March is for owls calling at night. April evenings are joyous with the return of laughing gulls and peepers singing from the pond. Yet antique shops, gourmet restaurants, live theater, and art studios are close-by, along with hiking; and in summer add in golf, fishing, and boat excursions; -- and always relaxation! Kayak, swim or beach-comb right from our shore. Gear down a notch or three; the pace is slower here. It's 'the way life should be!

Rates at Paradise Cottage are PER PERSON: Only WEEKLY rentals in Summer, Saturday to Saturday. Two night minimum in all other seasons. Besides being mesmerized by the ripples on the water, during gardening seasons you will find calm in the blooms just outside the windows and off the porch. In summer read a book while you enjoy the dappled shade on the deck overlooking the water or on one of the benches in the colorful perennial garden. Watch seagulls, osprey, and an occasional eagle ride the updrafts. In winter you will observe a variety of ducks. Go beach-combing to discover varied creatures that abound along the shore of the Gulf of Maine. Borrow ONE OF OUR KAYAKS and paddle over the bay if it's calm. Writers will find Paradise Cottage a peaceful private spot where they can work on their manuscripts. Day hikes in one of the many land preserves are a favorite outdoor activity. Or, you can take a picnic to Ocean Point, and watch the waves roll in from the open sea, the lobster boats haul traps, and ships pass by. How about a romantic sail at sunset? Many boat excursions are offered in nearby Boothbay Harbor. You will also find lighthouse tours, museums, and art studios starting with ours next door! Some of the best eateries are right here in Boothbay!

Visit the East Boothbay General Store for gourmet sandwiches, pizza, morning coffee and paper. The harbor is just three miles away, and offers many shops, boat excursions, and gourmet restaurants. Live theater has a dramatic presence with events nightly at the Opera House, and Family Night on Tuesdays. Afternoon tea is a yearly tradition with some of our long time renters. Peruse the aquarium in summer, where children's programs and classes enhance the quality of the coastal experience. Take a short boat ride to Burnt Island (Mon or Thurs) where costumed guides re-enact life of a lighthouse keeper's family in the late '50's. Go antiquing, or gallery hopping starting with nearby Paradise Studio. L.L.Bean and other outlet stores are just an hour away in Freeport. Acadia National Park is a three to four hour drive down east, with miles of scenic coastline and quaint villages to explore in between. Perhaps you would like deep sea fishing or golf.

WINTER SPECIALS run through May 20, 2016: Two people can rent two nights for $380 and get a third night free; 4 people, $480; Rent a week for $990 and get two free nights for a total of nine nights (2 ppl); or Rent two weeks and enjoy a 10% discount.

Rent Paradise Cottage by the month, any time November 1, 2015 through May 20, 2016 for $900/month plus you pay the utilities. Paradise Cottage has a wonderful woodstove in the great room. Area Information
Paradise Cottage is located on Linekin Bay in East Boothbay 3 miles east of Boothbay Harbor by car or on foot via a walk through the woods (Boothbay Region Land Trust Trail). Thus we have the best of both worlds; private and secluded, yet close to all the activities associated with a working waterfront. Enjoy the views and calm seclusion of our gardens or partake of other activities. We suggest the boat ride to Burnt Island where guides in character demonstrate the life of a Lighthouse Keeper's family in 1952. Children will also love the Aquarium where they will learn what critters to hunt for when they come back to explore our beach and in the shallow water. Don't miss our renowned Maine Botanical Gardens or the Railway Village with its antique cars. You can play golf at the Boothbay Country Club. Shops, art studios, gourmet restaurants, live theater, hiking, whale watching, antiquing and afternoon tea are just a few of the options nearby when you stay at Paradise Cottage.

Other Vacation Rental Amenities
The middle bedroom has a large closet with the washer and dryer in it and an extra vanity sink which augments the bathrooms. The end bedroom has two twins which can be put together to make a KING SIZED BED in addition to its own bathroom.

Smoking is allowed outside only.

The house is all on one level; however, at the minimum there are four steps (with railing), a gravel path and a little bridge with a slight slope leading through the perennial garden to get to the deck.

We offer guests the option to bring their own linens, or they may rent ours for $50 per stay for the whole house, or $25 for just two people.

There is just one ceiling fan in the living room. New for the winter is a functional wood stove to heat the living/dining room and kitchen.

Guests have the use of our beach in the cove (pictured in the view from the middle bedroom). It is a short amble across the street and down through more gardens. Photos number 20 above is a view of Paradise Cottage when looking back from the pebble beach.

You may borrow our two person sit-on-top kayak. We also have a lapstrake rowboat with and interesting story. You may use both after signing a release. We provide life jackets which are required when on the water.

Our location just three miles from the grocery store and all the activities in Boothbay Harbor, yet sequestered in the woods on quiet Linekin Bay, adds tremendously to the relaxation of your vacation.

Wonderful accommodations-loved it!

July 10, 2016

We had a wonderful vacation at Paradise Cottage. Ron and Mary Ellen did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. We enjoyed meeting them and it was great getting advice on excellent restaurants and beautiful hikes in the area. We were comforted by their availability if anything was needed, but only advice on where to go and what to do was all that we required. The cottage was lovely. The gardens surrounding it were beautiful and we had wonderful views of the bay. We took many walks up and down the little traveled road where the cottage is located, and took in the beauty of the surrounding area. We had a great time and look forward to returning one day. We can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was at Paradise Cottage. Highly recommended!

This is a great rental. The house is well set up for great views and convenience. It has amenities that you never even knew you needed on vacation. The area is quite, close to shopping, touring and restaurants. We had a great stay and Mary Ellen and Ron are great to work with.

Owner's reply:

Our sequestered location is both quiet and 3 miles from groceries, boat excursions, and gourmet dining. Don't forget our renowned Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Railway Village with antique cars, and lots of artists who take inspiration from the rugged and verdant scenery. There is plenty to explore, or you can enjoy the cool sea breeze with a book on the shaded deck or a bench in one of our gardens in summer or from the shelter of our floor to ceiling windows by the wood stove in winter.
