Description of the Boothbay vacation cottage rental
The NIGHTLY price quoted top right is for a MONTH'S STAY IN WINTER. For our discounted rates for other seasons, please see below.

Seanook is built on its own rocky point sequestered on the shore of Linekin Bay. This cozy cottage is grandfathered uniquely close to the ocean; the tide comes in around and under it. Come stay at this rare historic location over the water with panoramic windows and 4 decks, which is like being on a boat except it doesn't rock. Watch weather waft across the waves and spectacular sunsets shimmer in calm. On a rainy night the pitter-patter on the roof will lull you to sleep. Wake up to watery sounds of splashing and the call of seabirds. The ever-changing moods of the bay will entertain you on 3 sides year-round. See vibrant colors develop along the shore in mid-October. In winter you can be toasty warm by the fire, and watch ice floats and wildlife on the bay all at once. If you are lucky enough to get snowfall, the views are pristine!

Sink into one of the two sofas or the rocker in the living room, or lounge in a rocking chair by the floor-to-ceiling windows in the sunroom or on the antique glider on the top deck, or grab an Adirondack chair on the front lawn -- all to soak in this microcosm of the mid-coast surrounding you. Even each bed has its own fantastic view. You will find rocking chairs in two of the three rooms upstairs as well. Or tuck into the sofa at the end of the dining area for a more sequestered spot. Ample spaces for togetherness, yet plenty of cozy nooks for alone time add to the relaxation of this experience, your Maine vacation.

Seanook is a long-time family cottage, now a nearly complete year-round home. We are offering to share this special place. Wireless internet provided.

The dock and float will be available from the end of June into October depending on weather. Even if you don't bring a boat, it is fun to spend time here floating on the water. We now have three of our own personal kayaks and a rowboat which you may share with us and our other guests by signing our release.

Prices quoted are DISCOUNTED RATES payable only by CHECK or CASH. One half the total rent is payable in advance as a deposit to hold your time; the remainder is due on arrival. If you are unable to keep your reservation, we ask that you RESCHEDULE at another available time, or we can try to re-rent your dates less a $100 rebooking fee as long as you give us at least 30 days to do so.

Should you want to reserve a stay for the following calendar year, only one quarter of the rent will hold your time until January 1, and will be entirely refundable until that date, when the remaining quarter will be due, and the whole deposit will become refundable as explained above, or you may reschedule according to availability.

DISCOUNTED RATES for paying only by CASH or CHECK:
May 21 - June 17, 2016: $210/night or $1450/week for 2 people (+ $35/night each additional person) of $4000/mo including utilities.
June 18 - July 1, 2016: $2900/week
July 2 - August 26, 2016: $3300/week
August 27 - September 9, 2016: $2900/week
September 10 - October 28, 2016: $210/night or $1450/week for 2 people (+ $35/night each additional person)
October 29, 2016 - May 19, 2017 - Winter: see details below.

Again, the rates quoted above are DISCOUNTED PRICES for payments ONLY by cash or check; to pay by any other method please inquire for regular seasonal rates and let us know WHAT payment METHOD you want to use. Call or email us for this information.

WINTER SPECIALS: Two people can rent Seanook for $410 for 2 nights and get a third night free, 4 people $499, 6 people $599; Rent a week for $1200 and get two free nights (2 ppl); Rent two consecutive weeks and enjoy a 10% discount.

The Winter Season extends from the end of October all the way through until mid-May. The variety of stay length in the Winter make it difficult for a computer to calculate, so do CONTACT US! Come for our three night special or pay your own utilities and stay three months or more. See our rates section; email, or call us for information or a reservation.

Winter at Seanook is a wonderful time for kicking back. Enjoy watching the weather waft across the bay, ice floats, and the antics of the various species of ducks as they dive underwater and dodge seagulls when they emerge with food. If you are lucky enough you may get a snowsquall swirling across the bay while you relax by the crackling fireplace stove. In the aftermath the views are pristine. It is easy to make believe you are isolated! But with free Wi-Fi and superb Boothbay plowing it is a comfortable 'pretend!' Email or call us for more information or a reservation.

A romantic getaway in any season -- you may decide to just sit and watch the play of light and wind on the water. Our unique spot at the head of Linekin Bay on our own tiny peninsula affords us water views on three sides including a tantalizing vista to the mouth of the bay and open ocean. See seagulls, osprey, and an occasional eagle soar. You'll observe a variety of ducks in winter, and perhaps a seal or a beaver in summer. Read a book or sunbathe on the upper deck. Go beach-combing to discover varied creatures that abound along the shore of the Gulf of Maine. Borrow one of our kayaks or use your own to go kayaking if the bay is calm. Anglers of any age can fish right off the dock. Writers find Seanook a peaceful private retreat where they can work on their manuscripts. If you want to relax at any season, this is the spot! We welcome a couple as readily as a family or group of friends. Seanook is an ideal place for a small reunion or retreat. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

You can partake of varied area activities (see below), or just relax at Seanook and SOAK IT ALL IN! The unique mid-coast of Maine will be all around for you to absorb. Come! Call or email us for availability.
Area Information
Seanook is located in Mid-Coast Maine only three miles from Boothbay Harbor. Day HIKES in one of the many land preserves are a favorite outdoor activity. How about a romantic SAIL at sunset? Many BOAT EXCURSIONS are offered in nearby Boothbay Harbor. Perhaps you would like a whale-watch cruise. We recommend the boat ride to Burnt Island for an HISTORICAL LIGHTHOUSE TOUR on Mondays and Thursdays in summer. You will also find MUSEUMS, and ART STUDIOS starting with nearby Paradise Studio.

Some of the best EATERIES are right here in Boothbay. The East Boothbay General Store has morning paper & coffee, breakfast pizza and gourmet take-out. lIVE THEATER has a dramatic presence in Boothbay Harbor with events nightly at the Opera House, including Family Night on Tuesdays. Visit the AQUARIUM in summer, where added children's programs and classes enhance the quality of the coastal experience. You can go ANTIQUING all up and down Route #1. L.L.Bean and other OUTLETS are just an hour away in Freeport.

As you will discover, it is not necessary to do much traveling once you arrive at Seanook, because the essence of Maine and the relaxation can be experienced right here at your doorstep.

Staying at Seanook is always the highlight of our year. No matter what the season Seanook always has something to offer you. My husband and I always find it hard to leave and go sightseeing although there is plenty to see and do. We could just sit and gaze at the landscape with the wildlife ,boats and fishing without getting bored. This September was a banner year for fishing and the weather spectacular. Even the fog rolling in made the landscape that much more interesting. If you need time to relax and unwind from life's hectic schedule this is the spot for you. Every time we return it feels like coming home, very clean and cozy.Don't forget to light a fire and enjoy a glass of wine. Can't wait for next year! ! ! Pattie and Peter

This is our 4th year renting Seanook. The views of the water are amazing from every spot in the house. The amenities are all there. We look forward to it every year a perfect place to relax and enjoy with family. Truly a Maine getaway.

Owner's reply:

We especially appreciate our repeat guests who delight in what we offer: comforts of home sequestered amid water and wildlife. Their respect for our amenities in always leaving things nicely earns them a preferred rate for subsequent visits.

I did not find Seanook, it found me. Quite by accident it appeared on my computer after months of stress. I glanced at it and there was one available week the end of May. I booked it and when we arrived I knew that is where I needed to be. I went off property for a total of 2 hours that week. The beauty, peacefulness, cannot be described, one has to experience it. Thank you so much Mary Ellen and Ron.

Thank-you Mary-Ellen and Ron for sharing Seanook! There were no surprises it was described accurately. Seanook is a lovely clean spacious, comfortable well equipped cottage located down a quiet deadend road on the water in a picturesque section of East Boothbay. The 3 sided view of the water upstairs and down was delightful with Osprey building their nest along with the heron, seagulls, ducks and birds all a pleasure to watch. Seanook is perfect for day trips as it is conveniently located close to downtown town Boothbay Harbor and scenic surrounding towns all offering Lobsters, seafood, organic food co-ops, grocery, theaters and in Boothbay a fun eclectic cinema. We thourghly enjoyed our week. There were good Seafood restaurants and we enjoyed beautiful hiking trails throughout parts of the Boothbay Land Preserve and in Camden and Bristol. The owners Mary-Ellen and Ron were pleasantly hospitable greeting us on arrival and giving helpful suggestions. We would love to visit again in the future. Thanks again, Cyndi & Jim

The moment you open the door to this little gem you will say out loud "Now this is what I have been looking for!" Walls of windows greet you with their beautiful views and you instantly feel at home and at peace. The kitchen is open with everything you need to cook or bake. Large new fridge and great stove. The living room has comfortable seating with a great fireplace that we kept going the whole week and Ron made sure we had enough wood. The master bedroom is big with a king size bed, very comfortable. Attention was given to detail in this house by Mary Ellen with good quality sheets, blankets and towels. There were so many extra touches that made are stay so special that we truly appreciated. We will definitely return. The only thing we would love to see in the future if it is at all possible, is a hot tub. There is no bath tub in the house so a hot tub under the stars would truly be heavenly! Thank you Mary Ellen and Ron for sharing this very special home with us.

Owner's reply:

It is indeed our goal to make the Seanook experience one of calm comfort compatible with the wooded slopes and rock-bound shore bordering Linekin Bay. We particularly delight in pleasing those guests who appreciate the homey details of our enhancements. That is what keeps us interested in forever tweaking this labor of love with creativity.

Staying at Seanook, one experiences the gift of Maine - rustic beauty and quiet elegance, all wrapped up by Mary Ellen and Ron with attention to detail, graciousness, and kindness. Our family had relatives visiting from Sweden, and we wanted to give them a "Maine Experience". After looking at a few houses, we decided upon "Seanook" and were not disappointed; in fact, our expectations for our days together were exceeded. Our guests arrived in time for dinner, easily prepared in the well- equipped kitchen, and Mary Ellen had fixed the dining table so all 13 of us could sit together. It was already dark upon their arrival, so they had no idea of the spectacular sights in store for them in the morning- water on all sides, and a view from every bedroom. Furnishings are unique, thoughtful, artistic, and lovely. We felt like we were in someone's very cared-for home, not a rental house. It was simply the perfect spot to enjoy the natural beauty that is Maine, to sit by the fire for long visits, and to simply enjoy being together. We had sunny weather, rainy weather, and even a snowstorm (October!), most stores and restaurants were closed, and it did not make a bit of difference- we had a spectacular time. Four days was simply not long enough to enjoy what Seanook has to offer; we are already planning our next stay, and, in fact, I would like to stay forever! Carolyn Orne

Very nice home right on the water. Great views any time of the year. Home is in good condition and was clean.

Owner's reply:

Others in the group expressed their enjoyment of their long weekend at Seanook, which ended with a nor'easter. They sat cozily by the fire while watching snow fly horizontally over the water. They said that their experience was more fun and joyful than any of them had anticipated with the atmosphere at Seanook being "the icing on the cake." Their group included some international relatives from Sweden, who told us their appreciation of the "spectacular" accommodations right over the bay.
