Description from owner
The Spring week of May 27 - June 2, with departure on Saturday the 3rd, remains at Seanook because of a CANCELLATION. Two people can rent a week for $1450. Additional people are $35 per person per night. Call, text, or email (Contact us.) for more information or a reservation. Spring is happening here now! The float is out!
Seanook is built on its own rocky point sequestered on the shore of Linekin Bay. This cozy cottage is grandfathered uniquely close to the ocean; the tide comes in around and under it. Come stay at this rare historic location over the water with panoramic floor to ceiling windows and 4 decks, which is like being on a boat except it doesn't rock. Watch weather waft across the waves and spectacular sunsets shimmer in calm. On a rainy night the pitter-patter on the roof will lull you to sleep. Wake up to watery sounds of little waves splashing and the call of seabirds.
On arrival children will immediately be drawn down across the rocky beach to explore along the water line, no matter what the tide!
The ever-changing moods of the bay will entertain you on 3 sides year-round. See vibrant colors develop along the shore in mid-October. In winter you can be toasty warm by the fire, and watch ice floats and wildlife on the bay all at once. If you are lucky enough to get snowfall, the views are pristine!
Sink into one of the two sofas or a rocker in the living room, or lounge in a rocking chair by the floor-to-ceiling windows in the sunroom or on the antique glider on the top deck, or grab an Adirondack chair on the front lawn -- all to soak in this microcosm of the mid-coast surrounding you. Even EACH BED HAS ITS OWN FANTASTIC VIEW. Or tuck into the sofa at the end of the dining area for a more sequestered spot. Ample spaces for togetherness, yet plenty of cozy nooks for alone time add to the relaxation of this experience, your Maine vacation.
BEDS: 1 King Bed which can be two twins on advance notice (Master), 1 Queen Bed, 2 Twin Beds which can be a king on advance request. Two full BATHS, fully equipped open KITCHEN, DINING ROOM seats at least 6, FIREPLACE, WI-FI, SUNROOM, seasonal DOCK.
Seanook is a long-time family cottage, now a nearly complete year-round home. We are offering to share this special place. Wireless internet and firewood are provided.
The dock and float will be available from the end of June (April 2017) into October depending on weather. Even if you don't bring a boat, it is fun to spend time here floating on the water, or fishing. We now have three of our own personal kayaks and a rowboat which you may share with us and our other guests by signing our release.
Prices quoted are DISCOUNTED RATES. New this year, we have the ability to accept payment by e-check (Quick Pay, ClearXchange) directly from your bank to ours. Winter at Seanook is a wonderful time for kicking back. Enjoy watching the weather waft across the bay, ice floats, and the antics of the various species of ducks as they dive underwater and dodge seagulls when they emerge with food. If you are lucky, you may get snow squalling across the bay while you relax by the swirling fire in the glass-doored wood stove. In the aftermath the views are pristine. It is easy to make believe you are isolated! But with free Wi-Fi and superb Boothbay plowing it is a comfortable 'pretend!' Email or call us for more information or a reservation.
A romantic getaway in any season -- you may decide to just sit and watch the play of light and wind on the water. Our unique spot at the head of Linekin Bay on our own tiny peninsula affords us water views on three sides including a tantalizing vista to the mouth of the bay and open ocean. See seagulls, osprey, and an occasional eagle soar. You'll observe a variety of ducks in winter, and perhaps a seal or a beaver in summer. Read a book or sunbathe on the upper deck. Go beachcombing to discover varied creatures that abound along the shore of the Gulf of Maine. Borrow one of our kayaks or use your own to get out on the bay. Anglers of any age can fish right off the dock. Writers find Seanook a peaceful private retreat where you can work on your manuscript. If you want to relax at any season, this is the spot! We welcome a couple as readily as a family or group of friends. Seanook is an ideal place for a small reunion or retreat, especially when combined with one of our other cottages. We hope you will enjoy our spot as much as we do!
You can partake of varied area activities (see below) including our world-renowned Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, or just relax at Seanook and SOAK UP the essence of Maine! The unique mid-coast will be all around you to absorb. Come! Call or email us for availability.

“Snowy Retreat at Seanook”
We started driving north from Pennsylvania on Thursday, February 16th and saw the beginning of snow flurries in Connecticut; then snow-covered trees through Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. Mary Ellen, Seanook cottage's owner, assured us the roads were in good condition, despite a blizzard of 31 INCHES of snow from a nor'easter, which ended on February 12. She was right, and we arrived safe and sound at Seanook on Thursday afternoon. What a wonderful job they did clearing the cottage of all that snow!! Even though it was a light, fluffy snow, it was a huge undertaking. Mary Ellen and Ron had Seanook all ready for us~plenty of kindling and wood to build a nice fire, freshly made beds and a well-appointed kitchen stocked with every utensil and pot needed. We simply stopped at Hannaford and purchased everything we wanted to make all our meals right there. Seanook is so beautiful and comfortable, one doesn't want to leave~and we didn't! (only to take walks!) The views from every window are breathtaking, especially with all the snow! By Sunday, we cleared off the deck outside the master bedroom and were able to sit out there (with our coats on) in the sun, having cocktails and watching the snow melt away. We were so sorry to have to leave on Monday morning, but it was a fantastic get-away! Thank you, Mary Ellen and Ron, for a truly relaxing winter vacation at your special cottage on the bay.
“Seanook is the only vacation spot you will ever ws”
We have been coming to Seanook for years now, and every time the experience is better than before. We prefer going in the winter months and the quiet, the awe inspiring views and the different weather aspects of each day are just unmatched. We only go a couple times a year and each time we count down the days. It's like a dream. Seanook is such a beautifully maintained cottage, and an obvious labor of love for Ron and Mary Ellen. There is heart in every paint stroke, every gorgeous antique, the exquisite countertops to the seamlessly blended original artwork by Mary Ellen. Believe me, you will never find another place quite like it. As a bit of a bird nerd, myself, the water fowl and the eagle! offer so much to watch you can literally lose hours just observing them all, not to mention the red fox we saw at dusk. Once you go you will never want to be anywhere else. Thank you Aron and Mary Ellen, as always, for sharing such an amazing jewel with the rest of the world. We are eternally grateful.
“A little piece of heaven”
Staying at Seanook is always the highlight of our year. No matter what the season Seanook always has something to offer you. My husband and I always find it hard to leave and go sightseeing although there is plenty to see and do. We could just sit and gaze at the landscape with the wildlife ,boats and fishing without getting bored. This September was a banner year for fishing and the weather spectacular. Even the fog rolling in made the landscape that much more interesting. If you need time to relax and unwind from life's hectic schedule this is the spot for you. Every time we return it feels like coming home, very clean and cozy.Don't forget to light a fire and enjoy a glass of wine. Can't wait for next year! ! ! Pattie and Peter
This is our 4th year renting Seanook. The views of the water are amazing from every spot in the house. The amenities are all there. We look forward to it every year a perfect place to relax and enjoy with family. Truly a Maine getaway.
Owner's reply: We especially appreciate our repeat guests who delight in what we offer: comforts of home sequestered amid water and wildlife. Their respect for our amenities in always leaving things nicely earns them a preferred rate for subsequent visits.
“TRANQUILITY AND BEAUTY”
I did not find Seanook, it found me. Quite by accident it appeared on my computer after months of stress. I glanced at it and there was one available week the end of May. I booked it and when we arrived I knew that is where I needed to be. I went off property for a total of 2 hours that week. The beauty, peacefulness, cannot be described, one has to experience it. Thank you so much Mary Ellen and Ron.
“Seanook a Pleasant Stay”
Thank-you Mary-Ellen and Ron for sharing Seanook! There were no surprises it was described accurately. Seanook is a lovely clean spacious, comfortable well equipped cottage located down a quiet deadend road on the water in a picturesque section of East Boothbay. The 3 sided view of the water upstairs and down was delightful with Osprey building their nest along with the heron, seagulls, ducks and birds all a pleasure to watch. Seanook is perfect for day trips as it is conveniently located close to downtown town Boothbay Harbor and scenic surrounding towns all offering Lobsters, seafood, organic food co-ops, grocery, theaters and in Boothbay a fun eclectic cinema. We thourghly enjoyed our week. There were good Seafood restaurants and we enjoyed beautiful hiking trails throughout parts of the Boothbay Land Preserve and in Camden and Bristol. The owners Mary-Ellen and Ron were pleasantly hospitable greeting us on arrival and giving helpful suggestions. We would love to visit again in the future. Thanks again, Cyndi & Jim
“A little slice of Heaven”
The moment you open the door to this little gem you will say out loud "Now this is what I have been looking for!" Walls of windows greet you with their beautiful views and you instantly feel at home and at peace. The kitchen is open with everything you need to cook or bake. Large new fridge and great stove. The living room has comfortable seating with a great fireplace that we kept going the whole week and Ron made sure we had enough wood. The master bedroom is big with a king size bed, very comfortable. Attention was given to detail in this house by Mary Ellen with good quality sheets, blankets and towels. There were so many extra touches that made are stay so special that we truly appreciated. We will definitely return. The only thing we would love to see in the future if it is at all possible, is a hot tub. There is no bath tub in the house so a hot tub under the stars would truly be heavenly! Thank you Mary Ellen and Ron for sharing this very special home with us.
Owner's reply: It is indeed our goal to make the Seanook experience one of calm comfort compatible with the wooded slopes and rock-bound shore bordering Linekin Bay. We particularly delight in pleasing those guests who appreciate the homey details of our enhancements. That is what keeps us interested in forever tweaking this labor of love with creativity.
“Fantastic, wonderful, loved it!”
Staying at Seanook, one experiences the gift of Maine - rustic beauty and quiet elegance, all wrapped up by Mary Ellen and Ron with attention to detail, graciousness, and kindness. Our family had relatives visiting from Sweden, and we wanted to give them a "Maine Experience". After looking at a few houses, we decided upon "Seanook" and were not disappointed; in fact, our expectations for our days together were exceeded. Our guests arrived in time for dinner, easily prepared in the well- equipped kitchen, and Mary Ellen had fixed the dining table so all 13 of us could sit together. It was already dark upon their arrival, so they had no idea of the spectacular sights in store for them in the morning- water on all sides, and a view from every bedroom. Furnishings are unique, thoughtful, artistic, and lovely. We felt like we were in someone's very cared-for home, not a rental house. It was simply the perfect spot to enjoy the natural beauty that is Maine, to sit by the fire for long visits, and to simply enjoy being together. We had sunny weather, rainy weather, and even a snowstorm (October!), most stores and restaurants were closed, and it did not make a bit of difference- we had a spectacular time. Four days was simply not long enough to enjoy what Seanook has to offer; we are already planning our next stay, and, in fact, I would like to stay forever! Carolyn Orne
Very nice home right on the water. Great views any time of the year. Home is in good condition and was clean.
