Aug 2012 Seattle trip
August 18, 2012
house was as advertised. 1 bedroom was not set up as was originally booked/discussed with owner. was told at time of booking the number of beds per room and based my guests choice of bedrooms on that. Valentina called 4 days before the trip to confirm number of guests per room. she assumed because I said one couple in one of the rooms that only one bed was needed but that couple choose a room with two full beds since they sleep in seperate beds at home. that room did not have any bed but only 1 sofa bed instead of 2 full beds. owner did her best to accomodate the issue but room ended up crowded with queen sofa bed and 1 twin bed. couple staying in that room was not happy with the accomodations. good news - Valentina made her master bedroom available so one couple with 1 child and an infant could have a comfortable size room to fit a crib. house check in time was 3 pm. part of house was not ready. some bathrooms did not have sets of towels, some bathrooms did not have enough body wash for the week. toilet paper / paper towels/ garbage bags only enough for # of guests for about 3 days. I bought paper towels/toilet paper for rest of the guests for the week. not sure what the expectation for this was. good trip, house size was as advertised and allowed for plenty of room for all those staying in the home. great place to stay for family reunion. we had our family and new in-laws staying together for the week of daughter's wedding.

While this house was great for all your family and friends coming in from all over the country the place definately needed to be cleaner.

Rooms & Bathrooms were dirty. Nothing like the pictures shown. Backyard was small and needed to be mowed. No cable and internet only on one floor. There are two buildings one being a group home. You are not renting the whole mansion. Very disappointed.

I can NOT recommend this place other than it is big. The house is very nice. But, what the owners have done is very cheesy and cheap. Valentina has rules and notes about everything. But she doesn't even give you instructions on how to work the appliances. Half of the rooms are locked or have personal items stored in them. It is not an inviting place to stay. There is no cable TV, no computer, no Fax, and we were told there was WiFi, and again not there. The towels are terrible. Motel 6 has better linens than this house. The only bathroom downstairs is off a separate bedroom. All the bathrooms upstairs are off bedrooms. There is no public bathroom open on the first floor. I think it is behind one of the locked doors. The house was supposed to be available at 3:00. It was not available until 6:00 and then they were still cleaning the master bedroom up until about 2:00 in the morning. The house was not clean. Don't walk around in bare feet or white socks, they will show you what I am saying. We found trash under couches and beds. Bathrooms haden't been fully cleaned in some time. Some drawers, you didn't even want to put you clothes in because of the dust. And pillows on the beds can't even be called pillows. These things were the worst, sorriest excuses I have ever seen. We had to sleep in beds that I don't think the sheets were washed since the last guests. Just a little more attention to detail (better towels, pillows, etc.) and proper cleaning would be well on the way to making this a great rental. The next thing, they need to have proffesional cleaners to come in between rentals. Finally, they need a professional property manager. Valentina does not come across well. I think they live in the house when it is not rented and they have too much personal stuff in the house. She guards it like a mother lion. You can get chewed out for looking in something or not putting it back in the correct place.

I paid up front and in full for my stay at Chateau Valentina. When I regrettably had to cancel, with more than 90 days notice, Valentina promised to refund my money. Now, nearly a year later and after winning a suit against her in small claims court I have less than half of what I paid her. Please be careful, you can not trust this owner!

My son was married July 30th at Snoqualmie Ridge. Since most of his family lives in Cincinnati, we needed a large house so all 15 of us could stay together. Valentina was most gracious in opening an extra suite for my son and his family as well as allowing us to drop off luggage earlier than the check-in time so that we would have an empty trunk to pick up other family members coming in at different times. The house was perfect for the 6 different family units who stayed at Chateau Valentina. The large kitchen was a wonderful gathering place in the morning as we started our day. The morning of the wedding she was kind enough to provide steamer so that our wedding finery was wrinkle free. After the wedding we stayed a few more days and made many sightseeing trips to various points of interest in and around Seattle. I would highly recommend staying at Chateau Valentina with your family or group of friends.
Chateau did not meet expectations
August 5, 2011
Chateau is a beautiful house in nice location. But the cleanliness did not meet our expectations. For example, upon checking in we found un-emptied garbage in bathrooms and bedrooms, used razors/toothbrushes in bathroom, unswept or mopped kitchen floor, unwashed plates/bowls in kitchen. Outside furniture is dry-rotted. Also we did not expect to be living along with landlord, only separated by curtain and temporary divider in hallway. We showed up at 2:50pm(10 minutes prior to check-in time). Landlord was cleaning/setting up until 5:30pm.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS WOMAN!

After an unexpected change in plans, Valentina has refused to refund us our reservation fee. We are well within her guidelines for a 75% refund and yet she refuses to return our phone calls or emails to resolve this matter. Furthermore, her business practices are atrocious; even before our cancellation, she was unable to conduct business in a professional manner, with little to no communication or assistance. I SAY AGAIN, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY!

We met at the Cahteau Valentina for a wedding of our son and his future wife and their emmediate family and ours. It could NOT have been better, intimate, comfy and big enough to get out of each others way when necessary. The kitchen of course was our gathering spot for family style breakfast. Everything we needed to prepare an awesome brunch was there. we brought in a few oils and spices and left them there, as the peoploe before us had, and filled the pantry even more. In the future when our families want to meet for the arival of our first grandkids we are sure to meet at the Chateau. Thank you sharing with us. Vickie Ruth

My family came together from all over the country for a rare week vacation at Chateau Valentina. Our stay was very uncomfortable and disappointing. Not only did the owners live in the house with us, they also planned and hosted an elaborate birthday party. When I communicated to Valentina how uncomfortable and inconvenient this was for our entire family and we should receive a refund, she responded saying WE were inconveniencing her. Valentina's description of the house is misleading. She was disrespectful to my family. I would not rent from her again nor recommend another family to do so.

Not As Expected
July 6, 2010
Our extended family came from out of state to attend a wedding in Seattle. We decided to rent the house (10 adults + kids) in order for us all to be together. It looked great on the website!! We rented the house several months ahead of our visit. Several days before our arrival, we were asked to move to another house which we didn't agree with. We ended up back at this house which we found out the owners lived in and continued to live in when we were there (not something we agreed to. We thought we rented the house, not the rooms). They even planned a big party at the house for the Saturday night we were there and the main room was filled with decorations so there was no place for the kids to run around!! The owner was disrespectful at times when these issues were discussed and didn't understand why we were being so difficult. We made the best of it but would never recommend or rent from these people again.

This place is crazy. It's attached to a senior home center in the back which really isn't a huge deal but the owners live IN the house. There are certain parts of the house that are off limits because the owners live there while you stay there. We had 3 people we did not know (who were not the owners) walk right into the house to get stuff from the kitchen (for example, a nurse from the assisted living facility came in to grab some canola oil from the kitchen). It wasn't very clean (black mold in sink, microwave nasty). They won't let you park in front of the garage either which sounds trivial but it adds to the weirdness. They also cater buffets and other events at the house so there are weird little tables all over the living room and the dining room is full of catering equipment. There is a karaoke machine and vhs tapes which is sweet. Tennis courts listed are at the HS 1/4 mile down the road and the bball hoop is broke down and not accessible. Oh, all the sheets are made of fleece, so if it's summer, you might want to bring your own.
I have been on the go since I left you on August 3rd. I am finally back at Bonney Lake for a day and will head up to Vancouver later.
I want to say again my appreciation for your hospitality and kindness. I especially appreciate your graciousness during my family's visit and the extensive display of your delicious foods. I can't say enough to express my appreciation to you and Ben.
Please remember that you and Ben are always welcome when you visit Connecticut. Let Ben know that I will have the Australian rum for him and sweet wine ready for you.
There is one thing that I left in your kitchen by the toaster, and if it is still available, I would ask my friend who lives in Bothell to pick it up for me. It is a Starbucks coffee mug, stainless steel, black and blue. The reason I ask is that it has sentimental value for me. Please let me know and I will have my friend contact you for a convenient time.
By the way, I did not say goodbye to your assistant, Girlie, the nice young lady with the baby. I told her I would but in haste, I forgot. Do tell her that I would visit when I visit the Seattle area next.
Last but not least, I wish you and Ben the best of luck in all your endeavors.
