“Good place for group family gathering”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2016

We were a group of five families (10 adults and 8 children - ages 1-10years), and we appreciated all being in one home together with at least one bedroom and one bathroom per family. The kitchen and dining spaces (high tables/bar + patio furniture on the deck) were spacious-enough and worked well for us. The "community" spaces within the home allowed us to play cards, color, and watch an occasional movie. We all loved the spacious yard for games, bonfires, and exploring the grounds (dogs, cats, sheep, and a donkey). We hired an outside caterer who prepared our evening meals for our three nights, and it worked incredibly smoothly (the caterer was recommended by the lodge owners). The owners were available when we needed them during the whole process of making the reservation, replying to our pre-arrival questions, and during our stay. As bedtime and morning wake-up schedules vary, we did find it difficult to make the house "quiet enough" for all during these times as the bedrooms are all very close to each other and/or in direct contact with community spaces. For example, one bedroom is "open" to the main lodge living room, and these folks always had a late night and/or early wake up as a result. Another small point is that the place was clean but we found that wearing shoes was generally a better option. In sum, the lodge generally worked well. We'd stay here again.

Owner's reply: Tami, thank you for taking the time to share. We appreciate your kind words and explaining the different activities you were able to enjoy. If you had a larger family/group in the same home has several benefits but one of the negative aspects is not creating too much noise. It can be challenging! We are glad that it suited your families well and thank you for taking great care of your cottage and our property! Thank you again for sharing!
