We were suppose to go to West Palm Beach and the hurricane at that time changed our plans and we decided to look around at a place I had been to before--Anna Maria Island. We found this ad on the Sugar Shack and we were lucky it was not rented the week we needed. My husband and I are picky and we found paradise here at the Sugar Shack. Everything was right there that we needed in each room. My husband has a bad back and we found the beds to be very very comfortable and that means a lot. It was quite at night and during the day there is so much to do, we had another couple with us and we enjoyed everyday we were there and cooked out on the Weber grill most nights. Went to the beach, which is a short walk, everyday and then came back and layed around the pool. The screened in porch was so nice we would cook out and then eat on the porch and just enjoy the wonderful surroundings. Plenty of dishes, towels and others things to make you stay like home. I can not say enough about our week in the "Sugar Shack". Dealing with the owner was what made it so pleasant and she was always available to answer any questions, we can't wait to go back. The two bathrooms had been remodeled and the kitchen had been remodeled too, with granite countertops. I would not hesitate to recommend this home away from home to anyone. Everything has already been thought of to make your stay a vacation you would not forget. Thank you Shelia for one of those vacations we will always remember and look forward to the next one!!!

“Sugar Shack Vacation”

Sheila's cottage was perfect for us. Beautifully decorated with a totally private lanai and pool area. Pool is heated and we used it a number of times. Sheila is a delight to work with us and very prompt in responding when needed. Her cottage is completely updated, and just as described and short walk to gulf beach, and to the bay. The house is very close to Bridge St. and restaurants, and you can take the trolly anywhere on the island. We had a rental car, but not necessary. She gave us a number of good restaurant recommendations. Some of our favorites were Hurricane Hanks, The Sandbar, Minnie's (for breakfast), Tide Table's. We enjoyed walks on the beach in the morning, and pool in the afternoon. If you want a relaxing vacation close to the beach, Sugar Shack is the place! We are headed back next year in 2018. “A GREAT place to call home during your vacation!”

In the past 5 years I have vacationed at the Sugar Shack 4 yrs. Last year I tried California instead of Anna Maria Island. I was back on the island this year, you cannot beat the beaches, the people and the great Sugar Shack (home away from home). The Anna Maria Island community welcomes vacationers, the beaches are beautiful (clean, lots of shells, gentle slope into the water), the nightlife is fun and the food is good. The Sugar Shack makes the vacation, it is a cheerful, clean, homey, centrally located house that is a very short walk to a gorgeous beach and beautiful sunsets. The home accommodations are great; plenty of linens and towels for showers the pool and the beach. Beach supplies are plentiful. The pool area is landscaped beautifully (for day and night) and very private. My favorite spot in the house is the Lani, it has recently been redone and is a wonderful place to read or visit with friends or family. The house has newly remodeled bathrooms (that are very functional for multiple people), a newly remodeled kitchen (well equipped) and a great living space in doors if you chose to be inside. Beds are VERY COMFORTABLE and each bedroom has a ceiling fan and TV. I cannot say enough about Sheila, the Sugar Shack and Anna Maria Island. I would highly recommend a vacation at the Sugar Shack!!!!! Sheila is very helpful and accommodating and gives great advice about the area too.

We couldn't ask for a more comfortable, cozy home. It's a home not just a house. Beautiful pool and screened patio which a must in Florida. Close to everything. Spectacular beaches and adorable shops close by. A fantastic place to unwind. This a perfect private oasis. A short walk to the beach and they provide a wagon, chairs, toys, etc. The house is equipped with everything but food. We will be going back, it's amazing. Wonderful owners too.

Myself, husband and two teenage daughters visited Anna Maria Island in July and stayed at the Sugar Shack - it was great. Exactly as it looks in the photos - very quaint, has everything you need and a lovely colourful private garden/pool area which for us was a necessity with the heat! Really close to the beach and a number of good restaurants - would recommend Mr Bones - may not look like much from outside but really good. Would definitely book again if we are lucky enough to go back.

“Beautiful Home”

We stayed in the "Sugar Shack" mid June and had a wonderful stay. The house is well kept and has everything you need for a relaxing beach vacation. The home is very close to the beach and the beach cart helps you get the chairs and umbrella to the beach. The owner is easy to communicate with and responsive to your needs. Highly recommend this home for your next beach vacation and we hope to rent again soon!

“Great girls getaway!”

Imagine our surprise when us winter weary northerners pulled up in front of the cutest Florida bungalow we had ever seen! Three bedrooms, two full and beautifully appointed bathrooms, comfortable living spaces. And last but not least, the lanai and heated, saltwater pool! All amenities are provided, even beach towels and toys for the pool. And barely a city block walk to the beach and it's soft, white sand. I would go back in a heartbeat.

“The "Golden Sun"”

We stayed at the Sugar Shack the last two weeks of February 2016. Our daughter, son-in-law and almost 2 year old grandson stayed the first week. We all had a great time, but the little guy had so much fun he didn't want to go home. He always wanted to see the "golden sun" on the front of the house. The house is ideal for children because it's on a back street with very little traffic. The house had all the features we wanted: complete kitchen, warm pool and close to the beach and restaurants. We'll be back in 2017.

“Wonderful Vacation!”

Our stay at the Sugar Shack was AMAZING!! We had a blast! With 5 in our group-it was a family Christmas trip. We had ages 53, 50. 30,28, and 15 along for the fun. The house is so warm and inviting and we felt at home from the minute we walked in! The pool and yard are BEAUTIFUL! We also LOVED the fact that there are 5 bikes with the house and we rode all over! We can't wait to go back!

“Fabulous Beach Cottage on Anna Maria Islalnd”

Reviewed 15 Nov 2015

We two retired couples spent an incredible week at this cottage. It was light and roomy enough for two couples to be comfortable and have plenty of space to either R& R or be by the pool or take the short walk to the beautiful beach with our wagon carrying chairs, etc. We went for bike rides , walks to the beach and explores the area . Everything to the last detail was in the cottage for our convenience. Sheila didn't miss a thing...Would go there again in a heart beat.
