Anna Maria Island
Anna Maria island is just seven miles long and is made up of three small cities: Bradenton Beach,
Holmes Beach, and Anna Maria at the north. No matter which direction you come, you must cross water
via a bridge. At the southern tip is Bradenton Beach. You can head north from Sarasota travel on to Longboat Key
and cross over a draw bridge on to Bradenton Beach. There are also two other draw bridges from the main land of
Bradenton to come onto Anna Maria island. One way is via Manatee Avenue (SR 64 ) and the other is via Cortez Road.
What is there to do?
Anna Maria Holmes Beach Bradenton Beach and Beyond
While Anna Maria Island is known for laid back living and relaxation, should you wish to participate in the local scene there's an abundance of activities. If you enjoy biking, Bradenton Beach has a designated bike trail along Gulf Drive. Old Bridge Street has Putt Putt Golf and while you play, there is a misting system so you can stay cool. At the end of Old Bridge Street is a pier for your fishing pleasure as well as a restaurant. There are a variety of restaurants on Old Bridge St making it possible to satisfy every appetite.
Whether it's pizza or French crepes to fish tacos, you can find a meal to satisfy. There are also shops and the US Post office is located here so you can mail post cards to your friends back home.
Naturally you can swim in the crystal clear emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Snorkeling is also fun or surfboarding, para-sailing or kayaking. Several local business will rent you all the necessary equipment. Naturally there are golfing and tennis too.
There's really a wide range of things to do here, if you want to have an action packed time you will find plenty. Of course you can always stroll along the shore collecting shells and then watch an incredible sunset with your favorite beverage. Kids would enjoy a visit to Bradenton to see Snooty the manatee. The area of Manatee/Sarasota counties also has great off shore fishing, jet skiing, kayaking, golfing, tennis, shopping, museums, and art galleries to explore.
Be sure to observe all the turtle watch rules as the Ridley turtles are building nests from early May and baby turtles are hatching on our beaches. You might even go on a turtle watch tour with our local turtle lady. Look in the paper for her schedule.
The entire island of Anna Maria has many reasonably priced awarding winning restaurants. The Sign of the Mermaid Restaurant has not only delicious food as in breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but the owner is a triple time National Pie contest winner. Be sure and stop by.
Of course, check out the local newspaper for the latest events about the island. The A.M.I. SUN is just one. It's free and had lots of information you can use on current happenings.
Holmes Beach is famous for the Beach Cafe, Skinny's a small local hamburger, hotdog storefront plus along Gulf Drive you will locate the island grocery store, Publix and several island strip centers with your last minute beach items such as snacks, lotions, toys and beach towels.
OFF THE ISLAND
Mote Science Lab is just a short drive off the island and on to Longboat Key just a few miles to the south. Both you and your kids will enjoy a visit to this "hands on" science stop. This is where many of the rescued injured animals, occasional birds, turtles, etc are taken to recuperate and then are returned to nature.
ESPECIALLY for kids:
G WIZ is located in Sarasota near the VanWizzel a block off of Tamiami. This is a state of the art Science hands on museum. Well worth the visit. Check it out on line to see what they are featuring. Call for cost.
Disneyworld, Epcot Center, the Everglades, visit close by Sarasota with the Ringling Museum, Saint Armand's, and Selby Gardens.
There's so much to do outside that a few weeks may not be enough time. For instance right on down the road on Leffis key across from Coquina beach is a fabulous nature preserve. You can ride bikes there on the acres of board walk trails right along the Bay!
It is the most impressive nature Reserve I have ever seen. Here's some info from Manatee County. "Manatee County's newest baby" - opened to the public July of 2006, offering many acres of diverse marshlands, open water, and nature trails. Marshland, 2 1/2 miles of kayaking and canoeing along the Bay, 10 acres of uplands complete with 6 nature trails and as many bridges winding around the mangroves. The 500 foot boardwalk makes it a great location for bird watching, and the trails are great for hiking, and biking.
Sponsored in part by the County Conservation Land Management, the preserve houses endangered species like the gopher tortoise, and the Florida Scrub Jay."
We offer our own fishing dock available steps away.
You can go to a different white powder beach every day. Our white powder beach is just about 50 steps away! Great for taking in the rays, swimming, shelling, relaxing!
Coquina Beach is about a 10 min walk. Great place for barbecues, Volleyball, etc.
There's Marinas, Piers, Restaurants, Beach Volley Ball, Entertainment, etc., all within walking distance. PLUS FREE Trolley that takes you everywhere!!
You should also consider seeing Mote Aquarium, Ringling Museum, both within 20 min drive (+/-).
A bit further is Busch Gardens about 45 min drive. WELL WORTH THE DRIVE!
If you want relaxation just stay on our Fishing Dock or Screened Lanai or peaceful brick court yard under the palms!

Far Surpassed Our Every Expectation!!! Bradenton Beach/Key West Style Beach Rental My family and I have visited the Bradenton/Sarasota area numerous times over the years but had never stayed on Bradenton Beach. Words don't allow the description of the property to appropriately describe the beauty, location and serentity of the location. Situatied absolutely a moments walk to the white sand beach, fishing, dining and shopping, this rental was ideal for my wife and I and two teenage son's. Upon exiting our vehicle everything was absolutely beautiful from the landscaping, brick paver courtyard with ample seating to the outside of the rental unit which had excellent curb appeal and was definitely the nicest location in the area. Upon entering our rental we were instantly amazed at how new and absolutely exclusive the unit and furnishings were down to the smallest things such as coasters and decor. I am a disabled Marine Veteran and the California King Pillow Top bed was much more comfortable than my own TempurPedic. I am now in the market for the same bed. The Tommy Bahama decor, elegant linens and accessories and the size of the unit were all a great suprise from past rentals that we have stayed in. The outdoor area is absoutely beautiful, peaceful and was the ideal area to relax and enjoy a book or lounge and get to know the other guests that were staying there. No amenity was forgotten and our every wish was granted down to fishing poles, beach chairs, bicycles to ride up and down the island as well as a comveniently located washer and dryer that worked great and didn't require the depositing of a single quarter. The location was so desirable and we were able to bike or walk to everywhere we wanted to go to include coffee, icecream, grocery shopping, fine dining and the New Year's Eve Fireworks were only a 30 second walk from the front door. Driving directions provided let us right to the front door and the manual provided was extremely beneficial for offering dining suggestions, recreational activities, you name it. Thank you to Mark and his wife for their patriotism which allowed our stay to be affordable and just the relaxing vacation that I and my family so needed. Without their compassion and generous discount my family and I would not have been able to stay at such a wonderful location. 5 stars in my book any day and my family and I will definitely be returning for future visits to Bradenton Beach. Thank you! Thank You! Thank You!

My wife and I have come to Anna Maria Island for several years and this is the nicest place that we have stayed. The unit has been completely refurnished and everything from the appliances to the flat screen TV to the pillow top king size bed are brand new. The unit was spotless when we arrived. Outside the unit is a charming courtyard complete with picnic tables with umbrellas and a gas grill. It is located only about a one minute walk to the beach in one direction and another one minute walk to the bay in the opposite direction. It is located near historic Bridge Street where there is a nice selection of shops and restaurants. The owners are extremely friendly and live on site to take care of any concerns that may arise. It is a great place to stay.
Thanks for the perfect 5 Star review. We are glad that you noticed everything was new and look forward to having you back again. You will be surprised at the additional $10K investment we made to add a new lanai that has a new seating area and dining area. With long sliding glass windows, and new Tommy Bahama blinds, you can enjoy this room even on those few chilly Feb nights and even when it is raining. We have to agree that the location is like no other. Steps to the beach on one side and our dock on the Bay on the other. We also now have new bikes so next time you come you can ride the paved trails that go to Coquina Beach and Coquina Baywalk for the best Beach and Bay side scenery in all of Florida. We also appreciate that you noticed how much we care and are just a 3 properties away if needed. Many properties are handled by either a Property Manager who handles another 100 or so properties or an owner who might be a 1000 miles away. We are nearby and always available to handle any problem, should there ever be one, promptly.
