Patricia and Nick Strus
If there is anything we can do to make your stay more special, please let us know. For a small surcharge (10%) to cover gas, we can arrange to have your kitchen stocked with food and liquor. We can get you the best rib eye steaks in Costa Rica, organic produce, really anything. It's stressful when the first thing you have to think about is where to find milk or beer. In addition, if you are celebrating a special occasion and would like to arrange for some special surprise, please ask. Patricia loves to shop and make special times for people and Nick loves it when she spends other people's money.
Find the Local Artisans
We are transitioning the decor of the home to be completely furnished with items from Costa Rica. As much as possible everything in our home will be produced here in Guanacaste. Local photographers are preparing artwork for the walls, carvers and potters will be featured. Your soap will be produced in Tamarindo. Our plan is to encourage you to support local artisans by either visiting their places of work and shops or by purchasing the items in the house. Even our furniture was custom manufactured in Sarchi, an area of Costa Rica famous for producing exquisite furniture with local hardwood.
Explore Brasilito and Beyond
The tour operators we recommend are ones we have used ourselves. We want your dollars to support local businesses, not big business. Please ask us if there is something you would like to do. We can arrange anything from a fishing trip to an excursion to nearby national parks. If you want to learn to paddle board or surf, We know the guy(or gal) who can give you lessons. We know a chef who will cook the local cuisine for you in your home. Our neighbour can come and teach you how to make the local enchiladas and Gallo pinto. Monteverde? Manual Antonio? Wherever you want to wander, we will help you get there.
Chances are we know the person who can give you the best time along with the best price. We don't take a commission from tour sales. We ask the tour guides we use to pass on the savings to you. Our goal is to make your stay as memorable and pleasant as possible so that when you leave you will begin to dream about the next time you will come to visit.
Our guests often ask us if there is something they can bring to benefit local people. Of course! Many local people are very poor. But you, coming to vacation here, and spending your money in local restaurants and shops instead of in big resorts is a great benefit to the area. There is no need to do more. Do not feel obliged to bring anything. If you would like to, however, Casa Brasilito (a local NGO providing services to families) has provided the following list of items which are useful to the children and to Casa Brasilito:
School supplies-pencils, erasers, small boxes of crayons, any art supplies.
Office supplies-paper, sticky notes, staplers, really anything!
Books-easy to read books in English or any books in Spanish.
Small, inexpensive prizes for older kids-the children are offered rewards for attending tutoring and appropriate prizes for older kids are in short supply.
Soccer balls-highly prized!!!
Toiletries, especially toothbrushes and small tubes of toothpaste.
Needles for air pump for pumping up soccer balls.

Hospitality at its finest!
December 16, 2015
We found out about this Gem of a rental from a friend and really lucked out. This home is one of those places that you want to live in. The furniture and the fixtures were very nice. Patricia the owner went way out of her way to help us through the entire Costa Rica experience. Help with every part of the vacation and clearly was concerned that we had the best time possible. Her attention to detail made our time in Costa so relaxing. Casa Verde was much more than an amazing place to sleep it encompassed an outstanding and exceptionally warm Costa Rican hospitality that I am not sure I will find in another rental. Its location was ideal with a coffee shop just around the corner, markets, stores, beaches all within a short distance, . Everything was in great working order. Casa Verde and the customer service we received made our time in Costa Rica very memorable. Its not like me to travel to the same place twice but I could do this trip again and not change a single thing.
