“Quiet "unplugged" vacation”
I rented this beautiful rustic cabin for a family vacation with my Husband and our 2 children age 8 and 15. The cabin was beautiful, peaceful and it had more then enough room for everyone. I will have to say that this was the best vacation ever. I look forward to booking the cabin next year. Oh Loved the propane lighting. Thank You For a Wonderful time!!!!! Rebecca
This place was more than I ever imagined it could be! It is the perfect place to go to recharge yourself and get away from the normal hustle and bustle of life. The cabin was very inviting and cozy, especially at night having a fire in the wood stove while reading a book on the comfy couch. Sitting on the porch at night listening to the loons, coyotes and owls was so relaxing. The fishing on the lake was very exciting and fun, especially when letting the raft out towards the center of the lake. Living without any electricity was really nourishing and a great challenge that has brought perspective to our everyday life now. There were so many things to do around the area that we didn't even get to do it all because we wanted to enjoy some time at the cabin as well. A few great places to name near by would be, Round Top ice cream in Damariscotta, Marshall's point lighthouse has great shells to be claimed, Pemaquid Beach is an absolutely amazing and clean white sand beach, Pemaquid lighthouse park is a great place to spend the day and bring a picnic. We will definitely be returning next year! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for the perfect place to relax and enjoy wilderness!
Owner's reply: Kala, We are so glad you had a great time at our cabin. We do hope you will come often! Thank you so much for writing such a thoughtful review! Best, Anna & David
“Great little get-away”
This rustic cabin was just what we were looking for. Without electricity we had a much-needed unplugged vacation. The propane appliances worked great so we enjoyed the comforts of home. The peace and quiet of cabin and pond were delightful. There is so much to do on the Pemaquid Peninsula, we never went far, and we didn't have to contend with the big crowds at the more popular Maine coast destinations. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quiet, rustic get-away.
“Exceeded our expectations”
This log cabin's seclusion is extraordinary; we were a two-minute walk from a mile-long lake the first week in August, and we didn't see a single person all the time we were there. It felt like having the lake to ourselves. We enjoyed canoeing out to the islands in the lake and swimming. I was also amazed at how few insects there were. The only problem with having no electricity in the cabin was reading after the sun went down. There are gas lights, but I found them difficult to read by. We brought a battery powered lantern that was the best choice; I wish we had brought two. It's hard to imagine how we could have had a better week in Maine if we had paid 30 to 50 percent more.
Owner Supplied Testimonials
We have just arrived here in Germany and would like to thank you for making our wonderful Maine experience possible. First of all we felt very comfortable in your cottage. We could feel your love for it while being there ourselves. The lake was so quiet and gave us the impression of having it all to ourselves, that is how quiet and peaceful it was. What a gift for us. We heard moose (or so we guessed??? ) in the evenings while having dinner on the porch, loons and other mysterious sounds enchanting us. We did some nice tours in the surrounding area, for instance in Camden we hiked up to Mt. Battie and were lucky to have an incredible view. The trails were even easy enough for Nicolas. We also rented a Kayak in Damariscotta and paddled down the Damariscotta River to Dodge Point, where we enjoyed the hiking trails for about an hour or so. A very special treat just around the corner from Muscongus Pond we found in having lobster one evening right by the water. In Round Pond next to the Anchor Inn we could order them together with mussels and corn, last serve is at 8 pm. We did bring everything else needed with us and it felt much like a picknick while watching the sunset. We were the last ones to leave and enjoyed that special atmosphere very much. We want to thank you again for letting us stay in your house and hope that one day we may come back again to that wonderful place.
Dear David and Anna:
We just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful vacation, thanks to your little log cabin in the middle of nowhere. It was amazing to be so isolated and solely spend time with one another. We played lots of games and swam and went in the canoe. It was our best family vacation yet. It was so refreshing to be in nature and living such a simple life.
Thank you so much for allowing us to use the cabin. We truly appreciate it and look forward to future stays there.
Gratefully, William and Catherine Reyes and Boys
