“A Home for all Seasons”

Reviewed 18 Mar 2016

Our family has been fortunate to spend a week each summer at this beautiful home. This year our youngest son suggested that we should learn how to snowboard. We all thought of the Melton's home and Shawnee Peak on nearby Pleasant Mountain, a quick 10 minute drive from the lake. Although we didn't get to enjoy the home's beautiful perennial gardens, we did get to experience the beauty of the property in winter. When we arrived the sun was brilliant, reflecting off the snow and ice covered lake and there was a group of men setting up for ice fishing. Watching the activity was fascinating, especially for our 10 year old who wanted to learn everything about the sport. The skating rink that was set up on the lake in front of the house was very inviting and we will be sure to bring skates next year. Snowboarding was an adventure and the instructors were great. Working with a group ranging in age from 10-50 years old was no doubt challenging but we all left looking forward to our next visit to the mountain. One of the best parts of the weekend was enjoying a glass of wine in front of the fireplace after a day filled with outdoor activities. Summer or winter, this is a property not to be missed! Thank you to the Melton's for sharing their home with us!

“All the relaxation you'll ever need”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2015

This by far was the most relaxed that we have ever been on a vacation. Once we arrived at the house we didn't want to leave. The house is clean and comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. we got our daily excercise Kayaking. Fishing was a highlight but better very early morning. Would highly recommend if you want to do nothing but relax and enjoy the home and lake.

“Better Than Perfect”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2015

We have just returned from our vacation--the bags are unpacked and the laundry has been started. I thought this would be a good time to thank you both for sharing your beautiful home with our family. After an absolutely perfect trip last year, I was amazed that this year was even better! My older son (a huge theater buff, who loves all of your artwork) and daughter are both heading off to college next week making our family time together even more special as well as a bit bittersweet. Your home provided such a lovely setting for long conversations on the dock, leisurely swims in the afternoon and board games into the late evening. Everyone was so content spending time together, we didn't even watch tv --even our youngest son who is only 10! He spent a lot of his time fishing with my husband, hiking and paddle boarding with my daughter--I'm afraid neither my husband nor myself mastered that one! My parents visited on Thursday and we had a wonderful time reminiscing about our summers on Moose Pond while we enjoyed the wine that you left for us. Thank you too for that and the lovely flowers! I so enjoyed walking around your property and admiring your flowers in the early morning before everyone would awaken. The flowers and the loons calling made for such a peaceful time of prayer and reflection. I even saw an eagle one morning, what a thrill! And the weather that you provided was great! Sunny and beautiful each day until Friday, when the dark clouds rolled in, matching our moods at the thought of leaving. We ended up heading to North Conway and took advantage of the bargain shopping. As you can probably tell, we had a wonderful time and would love to come back.

“Lovely Lakefront Home”

Reviewed 12 May 2015

I rented this exceptional home last minute for a 4 night stay. The owners responded quickly, are very communicative, and allowed for a less than a week stay. I have rented several homes (three on Long Lake), and this is by far my favorite. Pictures and words can't fully describe this fantastic house. The home is pristine; clean, easy to keep clean, bright, stainless steel appliances, amazing windows with views from almost all rooms, fantastic deck, nicely sized bathroom, everything you need in a kitchen, bedrooms are spacious, and loft is perfect for a little personal space. Outdoors is even better. Located at a quiet spot on Long Lake on a quiet road, kayak is great fun, fire pit for relaxing by the water, and the sound of the loons is fantastic. Quiet but walking distance to restaurants (Gastropub, Thai, Chinese, Black Horse Tavern, and more), and cafes (Ricky's Diner, Beth's,etc), grocery store. Its a quick drive to the drive-in, Naples Causeway, etc. The house has a sand entry, but is right next to a public boat launch with a sandy entry. It's a short kayak ride to two other larger sandy beaches, as well as a quicker ride to a rock area that is surrounded by shallow sandy water. The water gets warm there, and its fun to swim around. Having shallow areas around, it keeps the jet skis, motorized water craft away. I no longer need to look for a lake house, this is my "go to"---I can't wait to bring my family back.

“Paradise Found”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2014

We arrived in the early evening and found the view stunning even at that time of day. The home is immaculate and had absolutely everything you could need when on vacation. We had activities planned for each day of vacation but everyone agreed that we wanted to stay right where we were. Swam, fished and relaxed....a perfect vacation. Thank you to the Meltons for sharing their beautiful home with us.

“Best rental ever!”

Reviewed 14 Aug 2014

My family stayed at this beautiful lakeside home last week. We have stayed at various lakeside cottages throughout Maine, but this one tops them all! I think we have found a "keeper"-already can't wait for next year! Between the house amenities, deck, dock, fishing, lake and wonderful, sandy and shallow swimming area, we couldn't ask for more! Plus, my granddaughter loved swinging over the lake and in the hammock! We were able to meet the owners as we were leaving. They were making sure everything was satisfactory and were very friendly:) Thank you Marilyn and Dennis for sharing your beautiful home with us!

“An amazing week!”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2012

This home has every convenience inside and out. Gorgeous, well kept and very homey place to spend on the lake. With four adults and two 10 yr olds....we all had great time.. The accommodations were very comfortable right down to the deck chairs. What a way to wake up every morning, sitting on the deck looking over looking the glass like water having a cup of morning joe! Plenty of yard space for games and the lower deck was so nice in the evenings to sit by the water, having a small pit fire and relaxing with a cold one! We rented a boat for a couple of days from the local marina and had a blast exploring Long Lake and tubing! The other great thing about this rental is the location. Everything you need is within minutes. And if by chance you get a rainy day....plenty of rainy day things to do in surrounding areas. We loved our stay so much we already booked our week for next year!!

“Beautiful home!! Perfect!!”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2012

The one word that comes to mind for this lake house is perfect! We had such a wonderful time. The house is gorgeous and we can't wait to return next year. We brought our boat with us and what a time we had.The lake is perfect. The house even had a beach w/ sand for the kids. As for the house itself, i didn't want to leave. It has everything you need. The kitchen is all top of the line. Didn't want for a single thing. Marilyn and Dennis, the owners, were so nice. If you are looking for that perfect place, look no further. This is it!!
