We first walk in it look nice and the more you look around the worse it got. Cable did not work to start of with and when we did get it to work only two TV's working. Dead ladybugs all over the floor with no broom or dust pan to sweep with. Dirty dishes, not just stained, but food still on them. Bottom floor was cold but was able to deal with that because people on the top floor just had to be hot. Dirty commodes on top floor. The garage was a total mess.

Awesome views Amazing Amenities

October 10, 2013

This home is amazing and has everything a large family would need. You can literally check in and never leave. It's at the top of the mountain and the road up can be challenging in a large vehicle or if the ground isn't completely dry but the views are ABSOLUTELY amazing !!!

Owner's reply:

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. It's nice to know that others enjoy our home as much as we do. That has been our intention. Thanks again!

Weekend getaway with Friends

June 2, 2013

This was our third trip to the Engelzar cabin with friends. It is always a pleasure to stay here as it has something for everyone in the family and is so spacious. The area is absolutely beautiful and we just love how peaceful and relaxing our visits each have been. We have visited several area attractions like rafting down the Nantahala Gorge, hiking to the Chimneys, tubing down deep creek, and were lucky enough to catch an Indian dance event on the Cherokee Indian reservation. We consider Engelzar cabin to be our go to mountain home away from home and I am sure you will find it as comfortable as we have. We look forward to our next stay.

Owner's reply:

60th Birthday Family Reunion - Totally Wonderful

August 15, 2012

We had never rented a cabin before but having family living in both Florida and Illinois, North Carolina seemed to be the perfect middle of the road location to celebrate my 60th birthday. The drive was wonderful and scenic. The cabin was not difficult to locate but enough out of the beaten path to feel wonderfully lost in nature. Our experience was nothing less than spectacular. The cabin was in pristine condition with plenty of room and all basic amenities provided. Both kids and adults had constant fun with either the indoor games, TV, movies or outdoor hot tube, nature trails and fishing. At night we watched our first meteor shower while we roasted marsh mellows. The little ones kept us away from the paddle boats and lake, but we did not miss it. With plenty of pictures and a wonderful setting, it will be a birthday worth remembering. Thank you!

Rowell Family gathering

The Engelzar cabin was enjoyed by all fom 10 to 76. The kids loved the hike down the hill to the lake but wanted a ride back up. We used the back porch a lot and the ceiling fans are a great asset. We used the grill and picnic tables several times, The wi-fi connection worked well. The ladies like the well equiped kitchen and everyone enjoyed the food.

Security Deposit Not Returned

January 21, 2011

The owner decided their carpets needed cleaning when they were spotless so they refused to return the security deposit. Their claim is that my dog going for walks down a gravel street required them to professionally clean carpets inside the house. To put in perspective, there was a very nasty and pregnant wild dog that walked all around the house porches leaving terrible odors and chasing our friend when she went for a run; a perfectly normal neighbor's dog also ventured up to the house to say hi as well. So how does my dog being outside the house make a difference? When asked for an explanation of charges that N.C. General Statutes 42A requires they scoffed it off and could care less. I guess in a tight economy keeping people's money is fine with them when they know someone from Florida won't do anything about it. I will say that the cabin is nice with a good view. Kitchen is lacking all basic condiments and spices (except salt and pepper). You need to bring your own toilet paper and firewood as well. Local street and drive are gravel and should be easily traversable except during inclimate weather (ice, snow, heavy rain) without 4WD.

Perfect Getaway

May 5, 2009

We had the best time ever!!! It was roomy enough for everyone and yet so private. There was an air of relaxation, even though there were plenty of activities and fun. The kids loved it, the adults loved it, even the grandmother loved it. Everything was perfect and beautiful. You could tell the owners put a lot of thought and care into making a great getaway.
