Above The Ridge fantastic Smoky Mountain views
|Per night||$190 - $250|
You can sit on the decks and watch the twinkling lights from the cabins on the distant mountain ranges. Everyday has a masterpiece of colors waiting for you as they dance across the mountain from daybreak to sunset.
Up to the Top! Like all great secluded mountain cabins, you have to "climb" the mountain to get to the view. Any normal vehicle can make the "climb", but it might be one of the steepest roads you've ever driven!
After a long day hiking, fishing, or running the Nantahala River on a raft with a bunch of your friends and family, you can return to this cozy cabin as you stretch out on the comfy leather couch in front of the gas stone fireplace. You'll find what you need to make dinner special in the well appointed kitchen. Don't feel like cooking? Check out the variety of restaurants just down the road in downtown Bryson City. If you still have the energy you can have some fun on the foosball table in the loft or sit around the fire pit as the fire cuts through the cool night mountain air. When you're ready to retire for the night, you can crawl into a cozy bed and dream about the next day's adventures.

Reviews for this vacation cabin rental in Bryson City, North Carolina
April 9, 2015
The cabin was roomy and had a nice view. The hot tub was enjoyable after a day of hiking. Only two things were negative about Above the Ridge. The driveway was really steep and we got stuck at the top where the concrete transitioned to gravel. Just make sure you are going fast enough to get over the that spot. Also there were dead lady bugs mostly near the windows and doors on the first floor. Had to sweep since there wasn't a vacuum. But all in all Above the Ridge was very cozy and as long as a steep driveway and some deed bugs don't bother you, go for it

The best part about this cabin was it's location. It is close to everything which is why we chose it. Above the Ridge had beautiful views, great electronics, and a well stocked kitchen, but there were some quirks that were quite disappointing. This was our first time staying in Bryson City, but we have rented cabins in Traphill, NC and camp in Cherokee every summer. The first problem: There is zero water pressure, and if any person in the home flushed a toilet or turned on a sink at the same time another person was showering, the shower shut off completely. I understand the cabin is on a well, but for over a grand a week, one would think this would not be an issue. Honestly for a night or two we wouldn't have minded, but we stayed a week so we had to do a load of laundry and run the dishwasher and nothing could be done while showers were happening. We only had three people! I can't imagine staying here with a larger party. We haven't had this situation in other cabins and they were a lot more rural than this one. Second issue was the cleanliness. I understand the ladybug epidemic so when I found them in bed or other places I didn't have a problem, but the pile of dead ladybugs on the floor under the bed in the loft was pretty gross. I made the mistake of opening a window to find a literal pile of old dead bugs inside which was also pretty disgusting. The last issue was the driveway. We came up on a very rainy day and the top of the driveway was very muddy. We ended up having to get a wrecker. After getting some tips from him, we made it up the driveway, but this situation impacted our trip negatively as we felt uncomfortable trying to make it up the hill in the dark in our front wheel drive vehicle. I seriously recommend that you forewarn your renters. I almost didn't pick this cabin because of the reviews that talked about the "treacherous" driveway, but the management comments about how easy it was changed my mind. I imagine many of your renters are not from the mountains so a little warning is pretty necessary. Had we been warned we would have happily rented a four wheel drive and had a better trip. Overall the cabin is very pretty and, like I said, we loved the kitchen and the TVs in each room, but we would not choose this cabin again.

The house was very nicely laid out and worked perfect for my family. The house was clean with the exception of a little trash left in the yard. The view was just as described and illustrated in the pictures.

It is my understanding that the individual who rented this cabin for us contacted the owner about 4 of the 6 people who rented this cabin developing bed bug rash. An email was sent and phone calls placed, to be ignored. For this reason, I post this review.

We really enjoyed our girls weekend at the cabin. The only thing we did not like was the driveway and we set the ADT alarm off thinking we could use the same code as we did to get the key out of the lock box. I would suggest warning people a little better about the driveway and also the alarm. We also didnt realize we had left a few things there until a few days later and nobody has tried to contact us about it. I feel like if someone leaves something you should contact them and ask them if they knew and if they wanted it mailed back of course with us paying for postage. The check out time was a little early. Who wants to leave a beautiful place like that so early?!!? Overall it was a great weekend with a great view.
