Bueckeburg train station accesses mantra inline to Amsterdam and Berlin, you can be there in 3- 4hours.
If you like you can try the Spas all in easy driving distance.Bad Eilsen the closest about 15mins. Bad oeynhausen has a beautiful swimming pool complex.
Taste the waters there too or Bad Slazuffeln, Bad Pyrmont or see if a classical concert is playing in the parks whilst looking at the beautiful flowers on display.
Don't forget a trip to the Pied Piper in Hameln. Only 25km away.
Or an Open air museum in Detmold. A must in my diary ever few years, it's a day out and Hermanns denkmal is worth a look too.
Near to home is Kaiser Wilhelms statue at the Minden Gap. take a boat trip down the river Weser, maybe to Rinteln a cute little town.
Lots more places to see and do things of interest, like local brewery visits or The Windmill street as its known, when all the old windmills are opened on certain days and hoards of people on bikes go from one to another to see an umpapa band or eat home made bread and sausage or eat some cake baked in the old ovens, maybe a local traditional dance troop showing their skills.
