Area Information
--Between the lakes and nearby rivers, the area boasts an incredible sport fishery. Anglers can find walleye, pike, perch, rainbow trout and all manner of pan fish in the immediate area.
Lakes Cadillac and Mitchell have large populations of walleye, northern pike, crappie, bluegills, perch, largemouth and small mouth bass. The two lakes are connected by a canal built during the long and interesting northern Michigan logging era. The canal was originally built so lumbermen could float timber from the shores of Lake Mitchell to waiting sawmills on Lake Cadillac. Today the canal serves as a convenient link between two of Michigan's most popular fishing lakes.

--The greater Cadillac area is blessed with truly beautiful canoeing and kayaking rivers, and several area lakes. Within twenty minutes of Cadillac are two designated National Wild & Scenic Rivers, the Pine and Manistee, the consensus crown jewels of Michigan's paddlesport rivers.
Canoeists, kayakers, and rafters come from across the nation to experience their raw beauty, forested river-scapes, and crystal clear waters. Numerous access sites and riverside campgrounds make it possible to paddle for just a few hours, all day, or for several days. Visitors can choose to paddle a calm stretch of river, a more spirited stretch of river, or a little of both.
While snowmobiling, downhill skiing, snowboarding, and year-around fishing are Cadillac's best known recreational winter pursuits, winter enthusiasts are not restricted to the formal constraints of most resort areas. Cross-country skiing, treking, snowshoeing, hunting, photographic quests, and camping adventures in this area rival any in the country. During winter we offer over 200 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, 34 downhill ski runs with over 485 feet of vertical drop, over 60 miles of cross country ski and snow shoe trails, and several acres of frozen lakes for ice fishing.
