About Big Bear Lake

California is known for fun and sun, and Big Bear Lake has an excess of both. Located in southern CA, the city of Big Bear Lake is a great destination for families who enjoy spending their time outdoors in pursuit of recreational activities. Although it is located in the San Bernardino Mountains and surrounded by the San Bernardino National Forest, it doesn't mean that you'll need to spend your nights in a hotel or even a tent. You will be pleasantly surprised by the number of cabins that are available to rent and you'll find them right here on VacationHomeRentals.com. Often these rental homes offer more privacy and precious space for families who are on vacation. Cabin rentals in Big Bear also allow your family to fully appreciate their surroundings and the beauty of nature.

Things to do

You'll find a number of attractions that will entertain your entire family and enhance your vacation in Big Bear. One of these attractions is the Big Bear Solar Observatory, which is one of only six in the world. The Big Bear Historic Museum is another attraction that teaches the area's history. The kids will enjoy seeing and learning about the animals at Big Bear Alpine Zoo and Baldwin Lake Stables and Petting Zoo. Two of the area's largest attractions during the winter are the ski resorts Bear Mountain and Snow Summit.

Big Bear Off Road Adventures explores the canyons, streams, river valleys, hills and canyons of the San Bernardino Mountains, located about 30 miles outside of Big Bear Lake. Do you want to explore the world's most beautiful trails but can't make it to the top? Big Bear's Sky Chair takes you to the 8,200 ft. summit of Big Bear Mountain.

Climate

In terms of weather, Big Bear Lake has in excess of 300 sunshine filled days a year. The temperatures however tend to be the warmest in July and the coldest in January. During the winter months, despite its location in California, one can expect roughly 120 inches of snow.

Events

Regardless of the season, there are certain to be events taking place that people staying in Big Bear vacation rentals can appreciate. Often these events occur annually such as the annual Big Bear Cowboy Gathering in June. Another popular event is the Big Bear Valley Renaissance Faire, which takes place in August. In September, visitors to Big Bear Lake will find the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival.

Food

There are a myriad of options for dining in Big Bear Lake. For breakfast, try Amangela' Bagel and Sandwich House which makes incredible breakfast sandwiches or Moonridge Coffee Co. for your cup of java to wake up for a long day. The Peppercorn Grille and Jasper's Smokehouse and Steaks are both top notch dinner options to fill you up with meats, desserts, and more. Lastly, there are a number of pubs and taverns worth visting for a pint like the Black Diamond Tavern and Big Bear Lake Brewing company.

Clearly, Big Bear Lake has earned its reputation as a stellar vacation destination in the US, and with the number of well maintained cabin rentals available, you can't go wrong with where you stay. Add this spot to your list of must-visit locales this year.
